Daryn was expecting a mumble or an unkind word, or to be ignored completely. So when the man started speaking, quite rapidly, she blinked in surprise. Looking to his face, it took a few moments for her to process the words. Her first question was slightly off topic, but it was one of concern. "They haven't paid you yet? All residents are supposed to be given an allowance for incidentals."
Bony fingers lifted to push her hair back out of her pale face. She knew she didn't look well, and tried to hide it, but it was just rude not to look to someone when speaking with them. She turned and pointed out a small area where vendors set up. "That's where most people set up shop. But if there's something you need, most people here are very nice and they wouldn't charge you if you didn't have the cash."
