______________
Fitz was waiting in human form when Ben arrived, the man had gotten good at keeping an eye on his surroundings, making sure he wasn’t followed. Fitz had already laid down the blanket they kept stashed nearby and when he saw Ben come through the bushes he immediately pulled him into a deep and passionate kiss. It was as if he was testing himself, making sure the way he felt about Ben hadn’t changed since Ezra- or Levi as he was not called, had come back into his life. Those feelings he’d had seeing his old friend, that love that was more than friendship. The love he’d started to feel for Ben, had admitted to feeling.
His hand slid into Ben’s hair to hold his head as his other hand pulled his hip close. As their lips pulled apart for a breath he looked into Ben’s eyes. “Hey sexy.” He breathed as his fur soft lips started to kiss down Ben’s neck.
Getting pulled into a passionate kiss as soon as he saw Fitz was a bit of a surprise, as were the messages that he had received earlier. He didn’t want to admit that the first one of We need to talk had sent butterflies looping in his stomach, the last time he had heard that sentence from someone he cared about it didn’t end well at all.
After that initial moment of shock Ben kissed back, equaling the passion and trying not to think about what had gotten his boyfriend into such a mood. When their lips parted he smiled up at Fitz, hands on the other man’s hips. “Hey.” And then those lips were moving down his neck. “You alright?”
“Just love you.” He said softly, running his hand from Ben’s face to his chest. “Dreamed about you.” Fitz whispered in his ear. “Want you.”
He knew he needed to tell Ben about Ezra. Kyrie would want to share the good news and Fitz wanted her to be happy. But he didn’t want Ben to have second thoughts about how he felt about him. He wanted to show him how much he meant to him.
--
“You did?” He’d often dream of Fitz too but it wasn’t something that he would message the other man about. What had happened that was so important, he was sure it wasn’t just because Fitz was horny.
A hand reached up and rested on Fitz’s slightly stubbled cheek, he liked this bit of scruff but didn’t want the full blown hobo beard back, Ben would pin Fitz down and shave him if it came to that. “I want you too, but I think you know that.”
“So show me.” Fitz smirks, pulling Ben back to the blankets.
What happened next was something that only seemed to solidify how he felt about the other man. It was passion, desire, not as needy or lonely as it had been when they first met. Fitz had gotten to know the other man’s body, and while trying new things was always on the table, he knew what felt nice, and what Ben liked. Sure, he learned new little things each time, like how Ben had a sensitive spot on his neck down a bit, behind his earlobe and for some reason only on his left side.
That day Fitz took bottom from above. Wanting to please his boyfriend. His fur soft fingers lining the other man’s chest once they’d both been shed of clothes and aroused. They were far from people, but still couldn’t be too loud and as they had many times before while being together- whether outside or in the other bedroom- they each found the other covering mouths as moans escaped to prevent the risk of an echo.
Fitz took their afternoon slowly, not in a hurry to get off and be done with it. He yearned for the connection of them joined, the pleasure of Ben and the pleasure he could give Ben. But, at some point it did have to climax, and once cleaned and underwear put back on at least, Fitz felt himself being pulled back into Ben’s arms as he lay on the blanket. Fitz curled against the other man. “I love you… you know that.” He said softly, eyes closing as his head laid upon Ben’s chest. They both gleaned with sweat as their breathing calmed.
Any time that they could spend together was something that Ben enjoyed, even when they were just lying around on the couch or in bed and not doing anything in particular. But he would admit that there was something special about the times like these where they were able to take their time when it came to physical intimacy - engaging in kissing, touching and slow foreplay.
Hand roamed over that soft downy furlike skin as Fitz rode him, exploring the now familiar skin as if it was brand new. As it was still daylight he knew they couldn’t be too loud, not that it bothered Ben, neither of them were screamers which was probably a good thing.
Content and relatively clean they could bask in the afterglow for however long they wanted to, it wasn’t like either of them had places to be right now. His fingers ran through that short brown hair as Fitz rested against him, his eyes closed and breath now back to normal. “Oui, I do. I love you too. And I don’t think you brought me out here just for that.” Ben said cautiously, wanting to know why exactly they had met out here.
That ball of guilt formed again. “No, it’s not. But it was more important.” He said, laying a kiss on Ben’s chest before turning his head to look at him. His blue eyes tried to hide the guilt he was feeling, the fear and shame. “Something happened last night. Something unexpected… when I got home… after we…” Said I love you for the first time. Fitz pushed himself up and sat, his back facing Ben. He’d felt so much happy and joy the night before, first when he was with Ben and then it exploded when he saw Ezra- despite him initially being fearful of the man knowing he was there… until he realized Kyrie had already let him out of the bag. Now, he felt bad about being so happy. But Ezra was more than just an ex-crush. They’d been friends, best friends. Unrequited- or unable to requite feelings aside, they’d known each other for years before he’d lost him. Of course he’d be thrilled he was back. “Apparently, um… Ezra’s not as dead as we thought.” He still didn’t understand the whole story. His fingers went to the dog tags around his neck, his with one of Ez’s. Maybe it was true and they just couldn’t identify him. So, he’d just started over. “He’s on the island. Survived, but lost his memories. Kyrie found him.” He closed his eyes and lowered his head, if only to not cry again.
Ben stayed lying down for a moment when Fitz sat up, listening to what the other man was saying. He knew about Ezra, having heard tales about the man from both Kyrie and Fitz, how he was presumed dead after something that happened while overseas fighting the US’s war, Ben didn’t push for details because they weren’t important and he knew there were some painful memories hiding deep down. But to hear that not only was the man alive, but he was on the island even though he had memory loss. Sitting up Ben scooted closer to Fitz, legs either side and arms looping around the shoulders. “That’s fantastic news that he’s alive, chéri!” But not about the memory loss. He had seen the look in FItz’s eyes when Ezra was mentioned, there had been some kind of feelings between them.
He smiled softly. “Yea,” he leaned back into Ben’s embrace. “He’s staying with Kyrie, in the spare room.” His room. Fitz was making due. “I think I’m still in shock over the whole thing. I’m sure Key’s going to tell you all about it too. But I wanted to tell you first.” Because it felt like the right thing to do.
His fingers ran over Ben’s hand as it wrapped around him. “And he does know about me- Kyrie told him. So you know.”
“Do you want to come and stay at my place?” Ben asked when he heard that Ezra had taken over the spare room, he had gone over his apartment and thankfully the cameras and microphones were still down which meant that it was safe for Fitz to be there in his human form. “I mean, if you want to.” It was good to have a heads up about the situation, he just hoped that if Ezra got his memory back that Fitz wasn’t going to leave him.
“How do you feel about that? Someone else knowing about you?” Not that it was really any of his business but he really did care about Fitz and another person who knew the truth meant another person who might spill the secret.
“I trust him… or the him I remember.” Fitz nodded. “But putting someone else at risk. It’s bad enough you and Key-” He closed his eyes, he could hear Ben hushing his guilt.
A small smile crossed his lips and he turned to look at Ben at the offer of residence. “Of course I’d want to. But I don’t want to invade your space or anything.” He rested his head back against Ben’s shoulder. “What if you get sick of me?”
He didn’t expect it to be a long term thing, Fitz staying with him because Ezra was in ‘their’ room but they would see how things went. “Chéri, I greatly doubt that is going to happen any time soon.” Ben smiled, giving Fitz a quick kiss on the cheek. “I would not have offered if I didn’t mean it. I have classes or lessons almost every day, you’ll get some time alone and I can come back and cook you dinner.” It all seemed quite domesticated but he was thinking of it more as a ‘roommate’ kind of deal rather than them moving in together.
Fitz had no delusions that it was anything more than a kind offer. Perhaps a part of him expected that someday Ben would find someone he could be with in the open. “Maybe for a night or so. I just still worry about Key. Even if Ezra is there.” Or because he is? It was his friend, but there was so much missing time now. Maybe all his time being invisible in the Faction had him overly paranoid.
The Faction. If things were going to get serious with him and Ben, at some point he’d need to drop that bombshell too. But Ezra was enough for that day. “I’m just glad we’ll have a safe bed again- where we don’t have to worry about the someone in the other room.” He chuckled and nuzzled Ben slightly with a small hum. “You are such a good man.”
There was no expiry on the offer, for as long as Fitz needed a bed there was one, as long as he was happy to share it with Ben though there was the couch if he didn’t. “You’re always welcome at my place, any time at all.” He could understand the worry, Kyrie and Ezra might be related by blood but at the moment she was still a stranger to him.
“Mmm…” Ben hummed as Fitz nuzzled at his neck. “A safe bed is good, although I do like coming out here. We don’t have to worry about waking the neighbors if we get a bit noisy.” Hehad gotten loud more than once, especially when he was the one on the bottom. “And we have our scouts, no one will sneak up on us.”
“Thank you.” Fitz sighed, just letting himself melt into Ben’s arms.
“Come here, let’s lie back down.” Ben said, gently pulling Fitz back down onto the blanket. It wasn’t cold enough to need a blanket on top of them and the filtered sunlight was warm enough without worrying about getting sunburnt. It really was a lovely place and he was glad that they had it to escape to when they wanted to be alone without human eyes watching them.
He gave Fitz a slow and gentle kiss, content at this moment despite the news.
