(DYLAN is sitting under a pier on the beach looking out at the ocean. She looks to her right at the other beach goers and then back out at the ocean. In the background we see CADYN walking up from behind her.)
CADYN: Hey, Dyl. Whatcha up to?
(DYALN looks behind her and smiles at CADYN.)
DYLAN: Just sitting and thinking for the most part. How about you?
(CADYN comes up and sits beside her.)
CADYN: Not much. Just talked to Chris. Devon knows he's a witch.
DYLAN: How'd he find out?
CADYN: I told him. He was attacked last night. I couldn't explain it without telling him.
(DYLAN looks down at the sand and slowly back up at CADYN who is looking out at the water.)
DYLAN: How'd he take it?
CADYN: A lot better than I'd expected actually. He didn't totally freak out... just a little bit.
DYLAN: Well its better he knows right? At least then he'll be able to protect himself a little.
(CADYN nods.)
CADYN: Yeah. I just hope he doesn't do the stupid thing and not call me. He still doesn't have an active power so he can't do much.
DYLAN: Don't worry about him, Cade. If he needs you, his subconcious will call, remember? I needed help that one time taking on Aceline and I absolutely refused to call Wyatt; but he showed up anyway. Saved my sorry butt just in time. I'll never do that again.
(CADYN laughs and nods.)
CADYN: Yeah, you're right. I've had that happen to me. I'll get a call from a charge and they never verbally made one.
DYLAN: Exactly. So don't sweat it. He'll be fine.
CADYN: Yeah. So tell me. What's on your mind?
DYLAN: Huh? Oh, nothing all that important.
CADYN: Nothing all that important, huh? That's bull, Dylan. I know you better than that.
(DYLAN looks out over the ocean with a blank expression. The girls are silent for a moment before CADYN speaks again.)
CADYN: Dylan?
(DYLAN takes a deep breath before answering.)
DYLAN: I just worry, yanno? I worry about our futures. I worry about the Destined, whoever they are. What happens to us if one of them have already been killed off?
(DYLAN turns her eyes up to CADYN, a concerned look on her face.)
DYLAN: What if they never realize what they are?
CADYN: Dlyan, you can't think like that. You've got to trust the Power. You've got to have hope.
(DYLAN sighs heavily and her shoulders slump slightly.)
DYLAN: I know. It's just... so hard.
(CADYN put her arm around DYLAN's shoulder and hugged her lightly.)
CADYN: I understand.
(We hear wind chimes and CADYN sits up a bit straighter.)
CADYN; Devon. He's in trouble. I... I gotta go.
(Without another word, CADYN orbs out. DYLAN sighes heavily and looks up at the sky.)
DYLAN: You're killin' me, yanno?!
(When the camera angle changes we see ELDER to the side.)
ELDER: No we're not, Dylan. You're very much still alive.
(DYLAN jumps slightly and turns to look over her shoulder at ELDER, glowering.)
DYLAN: Normal people give warning when they come up behind someone. And I was being sarcastic.
ELDER: Well that works out perfectly then because I'm not a normal person.
(DYLAN rolls her eyes and turns back around to the water.)
DYLAN: To what do I owe the pleasure of having you grace me with your presence?
ELDER: Most certainly not that attitude.
DYLAN: Oh spare me the behavioral lecture, please. I have a right to be sarcastic with you all. You give me the gift of foresight to stop certain things from happening and to insure other things do happen, then I go and see one of the only things the side of good has going for them and I'm not allowed to tell a soul.
(DYLAN goes silent for a moment. You can see she's wondering if she should have said that.)
ELDER: I realize it's frustrating, Dylan, but we're not ready for everyone to know she's a Destined. If it gets out that she is and gets killed we won't have a chance at making things right again. Good would never have a chance.
(DYLAN pulls her knees up to her chest and rests her chin on them, sighing heavily.)
DYLAN: I know, it's just... so difficult. She's one of my best friends. It's wrong to lie to her about this all.
ELDER: It may feel wrong, but trust me, when I say it's the right thing to do.
(DYLAN nods and looks back at ELDER.)
DYLAN: How much longer do I have to keep it secret?
ELDER: We're not sure. Hopefully not much longer. We're hoping these witch hunts will make the Power come out soon.
DYLAN: Wyatt and Chris are getting as many leads on that as they can. They're getting desperate about finding the Power. Chris even went so far as to suggest scrying for one of the Destined using the Book of Shadows.
(ELDER suddenly becomes very interested.)
ELDER: They haven't tried it yet have they?
(DYLAN becomes a bit suspicious.)
DYLAN: Not to my knowledge. The last I heard, Cadyn had convinced Chris not to, saying they had to wait for the Power to come out on its own. Why do you ask? It wouldn't work would it?
ELDER: If all three parts of the Power are dormant they won't find any of the Destined, but if one of the parts has become active they'll find that Power. As far as we know, her power still hasn't become active. You need to make sure they don't find out, Dylan.
DYLAN: Yeah, yeah. I know. Keep the secret and keep it safe. It's what I've been doing for the past, oh I don't know, eight years? I guess I could handle it a bit longer.
ELDER: Your efforts are greatly appreciated, Dylan, and won most certainly won't be forgotten after all is said and done.
DYLAN: I know. I apologize for my attitude. It's just how I deal with stress.
ELDER: It's quite alright. I understand. Just be careful with your temper, it may get the best of you one day.
(ELDER orbs out. DYLAN stares incrediously at ELDER till he/she disappears.)
DYLAN: Could you be more cryptic?!?!
(DYLAN gets up and walks more inland, leaving the beach.)
