(CADYN orbs into DEVON's bedroom, putting DEVON on his bed with her beside him. Getting up she goes to his mini-fridge and gets a bottle of water out, using it like an ice pack on his head. She pulls up a chair and sits in it, holding the bottle to his head. She starts talking to herself lightly.)
CADYN: This is not how I wanted to let him know. Thank you, demon, for making my job twenty times harder than you had to. I'm just glad I got to vanquish your sorry ass...
(As she mutters on to herself DEVON stirs and she goes quiet, watching him. After a moment his eyes flutter open and he looks at her questioningly.)
DEVON: Cadyn? Where am I? What happened?
(CADYN shushes him lightly before answering.)
CADYN: Shh. You're in your room and you're safe. Don't worry about it.
(DEVON lays back some more, looking up at the ceiling before looking over at her.)
DEVON: What happened? I remember winning the game... and I remember going to talk to you... and then I remember Hutchins coming up to congratulate me. Then everything just... stopped. I couldn't move... and then I woke up here. Cadyn, what happened?
(CADYN takes a deep breath and lets it out in a sigh.)
CADYN: Devon, there's no easy way to tell you this. I hadn't wanted you to find out this way, but thanks to that demon there's no other way.
DEVON: Wait, what? Did you just say demon?
(CADYN nods and looks down at him.)
CADYN: You're a witch, DEVON. And I'm your whiteligher. A guardian angel of sorts.
(DEVON looks at her blankly for a while before speaking.)
DEVON: I must have hit my head in the game. This has gotta be a dream...
(CADYN shook her head.)
CADYN: This isn't a dream, DEVON. This is real.
(DEVON sat up in his bed despite CADYN putting her hand on his shoulder to keep him down.)
DEVON: How did this happen!? A witch?! What the hell does that mean?! What's going to happen to me?!
CADYN: Calm down, Devon. Being a witch isn't going to change you. You won't turn into an old hag and grow warts if that's what you're afraid of. You can continue to live a normal life.
(DEVON has calmed down drastically by now but is still looking at CADYN like she's crazy.)
DEVON: A normal life? You call being a witch normal!?
(CADYN rolls her eyes at him.)
CADYN: Stop being so melodramatic. Being a witch isn't that bad. You remember my roommate? Dylan?
(DEVON nods.)
CADYN: She's a witch. A premonisionist to be exact. That just means she can see the future in a sense.
(DEVON raises a brow.)
DEVON: The future? So she could tell me who'll win the Super Bowl next year?
CADYN: If she wanted to. She's learned to control her powers so she doesn't get random premonitions anymore. She only gets them when she focuses on something and never for personal gain. That's a quick way to get your powers taken away.
DEVON: Can all witches see the future?
(CADYN shakes her head.)
CADYN: No, some are shape shifters, some are conjurers, and others don't have an active power at all.
DEVON: How will I know if I do?
CADYN: It'll develop as you age. Keep in mind that you weren't supposed to find out you're a witch for another year, so it may be a while before your power shows.
(DEVON nods slowly, looking as if he finally accepts it all.)
DEVON: What about Hutchins? Does he have anything to do with all this?
CADYN: That wasn't really him. That was a shape shifter demon pretending to be him.
(DEVON raises a brow.)
DEVON: Pretending? Why?
(CADYN takes another deep breath and grimaces slightly.)
CADYN: I was hoping you wouldn't ask that. He wanted to kill you, Devon. That's what demons do. They kill witches.
(DEVON shakes his head and looks at her like she's crazy again.)
DEVON: Wait, what?! Kill me?! Why?! I didn't do anything!
CADYN: You're very existence is a threat to every demon, Devon. Withes hunt and vanquish demons to protect innocents, humans, from being killed or corrupted. They keep the balance between good and evil in goods favor.
(DEVON nods lightly throughout her entire schpeel, still looking at her a bit blankly. CADYN raises a brow lightly.)
CADYN: You okay?
(DEVON shakes his head, coming out of his daze.)
DEVON: Uhhh... I think so? This is just... just a lot to take in at once.
(CADYN glances at his beside table, looking at the time.)
CADYN: It's getting late. You should probably get some sleep.
(CADYN stands up and DEVON starts to panic again.)
DEVON: But what if they come back to kill me?
(CADYN puts a hand on his shoulder lightly.)
CADYN: It's okay. They don't know you're still alive yet. If you need me, just call my name. I'll be there.
(DEVON nods and lies back down on his bed.)
DEVON: Alright.
(CADYN smiles at him and goes to his door. She opens it and goes to leave but DEVON stops her.)
DEVON: Hey, Cadyn?
(CADYN stops and turns back to him.)
CADYN: Yeah?
DEVON: Thank you.
(CADYN smiles before answering.)
CADYN: You're welcome. Sleep well.
(CADYN leaves his bedroom and turns off the light. She closes the door and holds a hand over his door knob.)
CADYN: Let the witch inside this door rest peacefully as he should. Protect him while I'm way, protect him like I would.
(A soft blue light emanates from CADYN's hand and shortly dies. Looking around her, she takes a step back from the door and orbs out.)
