Draco
Crabbe/Goyle
Draco entered the Leaky Cauldron a few minutes before nine, eyes surveying the crowd before he made his way over to Tom, paying for a bottle of Elderberry wine, and taking it to a secluded table. There were a couple of things that he wished to discuss with Crabbe and Goyle, and for the moment, he had no desire of anyone else knowing what was being discussed. And, from his vantage, he was afforded a glimpse of the entire room, so could stop discussing matters if the need arose well in advance of anyone hearing anything. Of course, not everything would be business. There were some things that he could not tell anyone just yet, and, to be honest, he just needed to get away from the house for a bit.
Vince and Greg decided that they were going to meet before they arrived at the Leaky Cauldron, and walked into the pub making small talk about food - what else was new there? Vince usually had the sharper eyes and sure enough, he spotted their friend and employer in the far corner. He nudged Greg to follow him and the two soon reached the table with their normal apathetic expressions. "Hi," said Vincent, with Greg grunting a greeting next to him.
They sat on the empty chairs and Vince realised that Draco had that look in his eye that meant something important was going to be discussed, or at least it would be necessary for them to pay close attention.
Draco nodded, remaining quiet as he poured himself a glass of wine. "Crabbe, Goyle," he said, looking at the two. Get you anything?" He motioned Tom over, waiting for their orders. It was true that what he had to discuss was rather important, and he knew their attention tended to wander if there was some distraction, say the wafting smells of someone else's dinner. Best to have such things taken care of before hand.
They appreciated the chance to be able to eat, because they could help better when their stomachs were full. Vince nodded and then said, "Fish and chips for me." He glanced over at Greg and listened for his order, although he was sure he knew what it'd be.
"And a hamburger for me with Butterbeer," added Greg. So their orders might have been a bit Muggle, but they were oh-so-good. Now that they had food on the way, Vincent looked back at Draco curiously.
He frowned. "What is it?" he asked. He hoped that neither one of them were going to be fired, because work was all he did. Vince really didn't have much of a social life... or any kind of life at all.
Draco took a sip, glancing around the room before leaning forward. "Have the two of you been keeping up with things? The journals? There's something of slight interest. It would appear that we have a traitor."
Vince nodded. "Yeah, I got a journal but it's really boring to read lots at a time," he said. The mention of a traitor was news to him. "What makes you think there's a traitor? How'd you know?" Surely if there was one, they'd use top secret wards or something illegally.
"Well, each journal is registered to one particular individual. Thus, if I make an entry, and you add to it, I know it's you through the magical link and registration." Draco took another drink. "Now, I don't know if you noticed, but a few days ago, there was a particular entry to an unregistered journal. One talking about purebloods being egauls with mudbloods. And, it has to be by a halfblood or pureblood, since no mudblood can get their own, nor do they have wands to conceal their identity. Thus... a traitor."
Greg stared as he just took a bite of his hamburger that arrived moments before. "What're y'guna do?" he asked with his mouth full of food.
Frowning, Vincent mulled this over for a couple of seconds. What would be the correct solution to this? He wasn't good at problem solving; hitting people worked well enough for him. "I guess we have to wait a little bit longer and see if it happens again."
"For the moment, I shall do nothing but sit and wait," Draco answered. "I have no doubt that further messages will happen, and as we have no clue as to their identity, there is very little that I can do. Only when we have enough information can we act accordingly. So, I'll need the both of you to watch out for anything... unusal from anyone."
Vince nodded. He would try as much as he could to see what was happening in the journals, but he wasn't the most observant guy in the world. "I'll see what I can do," he said.
"Me too," Greg added and he and Vince exchanged important glances. "How do we be sneaky?"
"We just read and don't say anything." Vincent was sure that he was right, and looked at Draco for confirmation.
"Exactly," Draco replied. "You just read. And listen whenever you're out in public. You might be surprised at how much people reveal in publi without being aware of it. and anything that might be of importance, report it to me."
