Hi
Not sure how to start, never posted in a support group like this before.

Feeling insecure and worried because of anxiety attacks and trying to avoid agoraphobia and gently trying to push out of long-worn detrimental patterns. Any ideas, sympathetic or just bouncing back and forth bitching about symptoms might help.

Thanks in advance and hope you all are holding orbit with your own problems.

Have you received treatment in the past? CBT has decent success rates with the anxiety disorders.

In general, I find that even getting out and reading in cafés helps minimize the downward spiral of isolation.

Yeah, I agree. I am way anxious about social stuff, but I force myself out there, realize it isn't so bad, and it gets better and better the more I do it.

There are meds for it, but I dunno. It depends how badly it's interfering with your life. I am medicated for depression, but find that a healthy outlook and good nutrition help me very much in synch with the meds.

*nods* Doing light exercise in the outdoors helps me best. Just hearing all the sounds of nature and the fresh, earthy air... it's really healing.

Yeah, I love the fact that we have sparrows living in the rose bush next to my front window. There is nothing (to me) like tiny little birds chirping to brighten one's day! Plus, the cute!!!

I remember that I used to love going to the big Chapters' downtown because everyone read books there. Just having that aura of shared knowledge was peaceful.

... I also liked reading books in malls, because then it felt like I was connected in my own solitude, as hypocritical as that sounds. ^_^;

Wow... thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. Didn't think that joining the group would spark new ideas so quickly. I am pleasantly proven wrong. ^^

Hey, I love hanging out in a crowded place like a mall and reading. I don't know why, but it's comfortable. Plus, when you get bored of reading, you can put down the book and play, "What are these people doing and why?"

Exactly. You can still have curiosity and touch base with people without having to directly speak with them. It's a mood thing, imho.

It's odd how malls are like that... personal and interpersonal and yet separate.
