FIC: Follow the steps of the suns, (Ambrose/Cain, DG/Jeb) PG-13

Title: Follow the steps of the suns
Author: [info]mentha
Rating/Warnings: PG-13, Smut, Fluff
Word Count: about 9K
Summary: Written for [info]wook77, a late (very late) [info]slashfest entry: Glitch teaches Cain how to dance in time for Ahamo and the Queen's second wedding/renewal of vows.
Notes: Notes and credits ran quite long; you'll find most of them at the end of the fic. However, I would like to profusely thank [info]fleshflutter, who really came through for me on a last minute beta (entirely my fault). Any errors that are still outstanding are mine and mine alone. Deepest thanks also to [info]sopdetly!

Two Random Prompts!

A couple of new challenges for the comm:

Challenge 1: Old Prompts Revival
We know that not everyone was able to use all of the previous drabble prompts, so we're going to revisit them a bit. Your challenge is to use any two (or more, if you can manage it!) previous drabble prompts in a ficlet -- that is, a piece of fiction longer than a drabble but under 1,000 words. (Of course, if you happen to run over 1K, we're not likely to object to that either... And as always, artists are encouraged to play along.) The prompts are: transportation, magic, Longcoats, Azkadellia's Tower, relationships, information, time, Viewers, and time storms.

Challenge 2: The DVD is Here
Write a piece of fiction (any length) or produce a work of art inspired by the DVD release. Incorporate some aspect of the DVD release (a "missing" line or scene, some new piece of character information, etc.) into your work. Did a line strike you as particularly interesting? Did the DVD release change your view of a character? Tell us about it, and let it influence a piece of fiction or art.

ALSO, remember that you're welcome to crosspost any of your other work to this comm. In fact, you're encouraged to do so. We might have missed it when it was posted elsewhere, and we want to read it! ;)

Glitch's Brain (or lack thereof)

Hi fellow Tin Man fen!

I was watching the DVD today and it struck me that apparently Glitch's entire brain was removed by the Alchemist. Since seeing the show on SciFi the first time, I'd been thinking he had half a brain still and I think it is because, at one point in the show where they're talking about courage (just before they go into the Tower to shut down the machine), Glitch says something to the effect of:

"It's funny, but I have twice as much courage with half a brain as I did when I had the whole thing. Just think, if I had no brain, I'd be four times as brave!"

And then D.G. goes on to tell him he's the smartest person she knows.

So, now I'm really confused. Did the Alchemist take his whole brain? Or just half of it?

By definition, a "drabble" is a work of fiction exactly 100 words in length. Similarly, a "drawble" is a piece of art, generally a simple drawing or sketch, that requires no more than about 20-30 minutes to complete.

Your challenge is to produce a drabble or drawble based on the prompt: time storms. Twisters, tornados, etc. They are used for travel amongst other things in the miniseries. Share please!

Don't forget that any of the past drabble/drawble prompts are still open if you like, and now that the DVD is released, we're working on some more challenges and other ideas.

The DVD is Here!

I preordered my copy from Amazon.com back in January, and it arrived two days ago. What about the rest of you? Ordered? Preordered? Have it already? Still waiting?

I've been busy with other things, unfortunately, and haven't had time to watch all of it yet. But there appear to be some lines and scenes on the DVD version that didn't make it into the original SciFi run. Anyone spot those? Were there any new bits that clarified any aspect of plot or characterization for you, or made you view something differently?

Or have you picked up on anything new with a more recent viewing?

Discuss!

Your challenge is to produce a drabble or drawble based on the prompt: Viewers. We don't know a whole lot about them, but several things were alluded to during the miniseries. Share something about Raw, Kalm or Lylo with us.

Fic: Five Things That Might Have Happened...

Title: Five Things That Might Have Happened On the Night Following the Eclipse
Author: [info]r_grayjoy
Characters: Cain, Glitch, Raw, DG, Azkadellia, & Ahamo in various combinations (one Cain/Glitch)
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 2,770
Summary: A series of five unconnected ficlets all taking place in or near Azkadellia's tower on the night following the end of the miniseries.
Author's Notes: A couple of weeks ago, this comm issued the drabble prompt "Azkadellia's tower." I couldn't seem to write a drabble for it to save my life; everything I started to write tried to grow on me. Eventually I took several of my false starts and half-formed ideas, and turned them into this.

Drabble Prompt 7: Time

By definition, a "drabble" is a work of fiction exactly 100 words in length. Similarly, a "drawble" is a piece of art, generally a simple drawing or sketch, that requires no more than about 20-30 minutes to complete.

In light of the fact that this prompt is going up a day late (oops), your challenge is to create a drabble or drawble based on the prompt: time. In the O.Z., people generally speak in terms of "annuals" rather than "years." Is it possible that the O.Z. annual and the Earth year do not exactly coincide in some way? How would people keep time in the O.Z. if either the sun seeder or the anti-sun seeder had come into use? What does "time" mean to the various inhabitants of the O.Z.?

Ficlet: The Reliability of the Source

Title: The Reliability of the Source
Author: [info]r_grayjoy
Characters: Glitch, Raw (Glitch/Cain)
Rating: disturbingly tame
Word Count: 335
Author's Notes: Inspired by the "Information" drabble prompt. I can't seem to write a drabble lately to save my life, but I thought I'd go ahead and post this silly ficlet as a consolation prize.

Drabble Prompt 6: Information

By definition, a "drabble" is a work of fiction exactly 100 words in length. Similarly, a "drawble" is a piece of art, generally a simple drawing or sketch, that requires no more than about 20-30 minutes to complete.

Your challenge is to produce a drabble or drawble based on the prompt: information. There are many ways to glean information in the O.Z.; one can pay, blackmail, plant spies, send out mobats, or consult a Viewer. As the sayings go, information is power, but not all information is of equal value. How does the information highway run in the O.Z.?

Drabble prompt 5

By definition, a "drabble" is a work of fiction exactly 100 words in length. Similarly, a "drawble" is a piece of art, generally a simple drawing or sketch, that requires no more than about 20-30 minutes to complete.

Your challenge is to produce a drabble or drawble based on the prompt: relationships. Everyone in the miniseries had a relationship of some sort with another character. We have so many options between attraction, family, hatred, chain of command, friendship… why don't you share some of them with us?
