master of a nothing place : susan ash : ([info]endinbloodshed) wrote in [info]deliverance_rpg,
It was sort of a long running joke at the Medlab that none of the staff actually had any taste buds left to be offended by how awful that freeze dried, fake coffee was. Whatever Horizon was making out of, it couldn't possibly have been traditional coffee beans and really. Now that she thought about it, Susan didn't want to muse on the possibilities of what they were grinding instead. Mud was the popular consensus, that or some other brown substance that didn't really need to be named for the gist of the joke to make sense.

"Oh my god," Susan sighed, reaching for the little bottle that Aiden had set down on the counter in front of her, "You're my favourite person right now." So she could have taken what she'd wanted to rather at this stage needed from the limited supplies left at the Medlabs, but that just wasn't the way she worked; even when one of her co-workers had pointed out that she'd been working flat out for six hours and if she really wanted to she could just take a couple of pills and lie down in the on call room, but that just reminded the Chief that they had some perfectly good beds and might have to resort to using them. As she sat at the bar the nurse turned the bottle over in her fingers, gloves lying beside her right elbow for now, she read the dosage, though she knew what it would be already and then popped the cap off looking up, "Everything tastes better than coffee in this day and age," she pointed out with a wry smile.
