Apparently, they were going to continue to sit on the floor. Zelos was fine with that. It felt good to him to be able to be casual and relaxed in this room. Zee put his own martini down on the steps, then returned to the bar to retrieve the small pitcher he had made in case anyone needed a refill to get through this. He was fairly certain he was going to need a bit more alcohol himself.
He returned to the goddesses and joined them sitting on the stairs. He was careful to sit one step lower than the queen. He wasn’t exactly sure of the protocol for step sitting, but it never hurt to allow the royalty to sit above you.
“You want me to prove to you that I want to change?” He was a little surprised that they wouldn’t just take his word for it. But it was a bad reputation that he wanted to fix. “I will do whatever you ask of me. As long as it does not interfere with my oath or put my siblings in danger.” He could handle being at risk himself, but his brother and sisters were actually more important to him than his oath. He just wasn’t drunk enough to say that out loud.
“What would you have me do, your majesty?” he asked, eager to get started. “Rescue a damsel – who could probably save herself without my help?” Women were not in distress as often as they use to be. “Slay a dragon? Oh, man. Please tell me I don’t have to clean out any stables.”
