Fuuuuuuck. He hadn’t heard Hera come. That was bad. He knew better than to slack off while in the temple. She even called him slothful. Or was she joking? He never really could tell. He was hoping for joking tonight.
Zelos was getting to his feet when the queen came over and took his glass. She then asked him what was bothering him. Was she really concerned? Possibly. No matter what Zeus said, Zee had seen Hera many times over his long service to them worry about her children and the staff. He didn’t think she liked him or his siblings very much, they did mainly work for Zeus, but he believed she cared. Not that he would ever say that to anyone else. She did have her own reputation to live up to.
He wasn’t sure if he should get up and leave or even bow to her as he usually did when she walked into the room. But she came back over to him and handed him a drink. Something men drank. And she sat beside him! Okay then. He should probably answer her questions.
“Thank you, your majesty. I do apologize for sulking in the throne room. I was told that everyone was out for the night and was trying to not bother my siblings.” He took a sip of the drink she had brought him. It was really not bad at all. Of course, he should have been playing bartender for her.
“And no, ma’am. They are not the problem. Not directly.” Might as well tell someone. Might help just to get it off his chest. “I just got back from Apollo, not your favorite god, I know. But he had to finish patching me up from when I had to beat the living sh..crap out of Dionysos in front of a group of Sumerians. Yeah, that was a fun night. The whining part is that Kratos has this girlfriend. And I can’t get one because I made this stupid as… stupid persona for myself. So girls think I’m just looking for a non-serious relationship with a lot of sex, or they’re afraid that that is what I want. So whether I want sex or not, I’m screwed.”
Zee drained his glass and got to his feet. “Apologies, ma’am. I shouldn’t have gone on like that. I’m sure I’m keeping you from something. But thanks for listening.” He smiled and bowed. “Thank you for the drink. I’ll try to remember it.”
