Hera flashed him a look that was nothing but pure disbelief, and it was deliberately done. “We'll see.”
Those two words made it clear that she wasn't certain he remembered how to be sweet. At least not with her. It had been such a long time since that had been an element to their relationship, she really couldn't recall what he was like when he was sweet. There were moments of tenderness, yes, and intimacy, but that was not the same as sweetness. There was an added consideration, almost a gallantry, that was implied with sweetness. Hera was sure that at some point in their courtship... no, not their courtship, as that had been something else entirely, but perhaps during their honeymoon period, certainly, that had to have been some sweetness. She just couldn’t remember him being that way with her.
Or her with him, if she was being completely honest. So after her brief, challenging glance, she settled in to the idea of being sweet to her husband. Were they a normal couple, she might ask how his day had gone. But that would literally be bringing work home with them. So instead, she said, “You haven't mentioned your horse farms recently. With spring approaching, will you have some new foals to add to your bloodlines?”
