the sky is falling (Frigg, Odin)
Forseti spent so much of his time with mortals these days. It was not that they were simpler creatures to deal with, or that he disliked Gods, he simply wanted to help those that suffered. And suffer the mortals did. No matter if he was Justice or not, he could not stop everything. Corruption ran wild on the Mortal plane so much that his head spun and he felt like his head was constantly aching. When he did take a break from working, and from running marathon for the hell of it he liked to go back and visit those that made him smile.

Those that didn't need him so much to solve problems.

Frigg and Odin were his favorite people to visit. Not just because they were his grandparents. Not just because Frigg would dote on him as if he were a child, or because Odin always looked to him proudly. But because they were comfort in a way no one else was. They reminded him of home. They had his father in their eyes. It was what he needed at times. The look he was sure Baldr had gotten from his parents was the look they gave him from time to time.

He needed that just to even the keel of his life.

"I'm.." He almost said home when he stepped inside their temple. "..here." This was not quite home to him. Not really. But a home.

"Grandma?" He hesitated there, he never did like to go in too far without being welcomed. It was just polite.

Frigg would have just as well have liked to have summoned her grandson to Fensalir -her hall. It was not for any great dislike for Valaskjalf -her husband's hall. It was just that the expanse of Odin's hall felt so cold and empty when he wasn't around. Right now, he was in Asgard, so it was warm and inviting and she gladly shared his bed and the expanse of the space surrounding it. But, she would have still liked to have summoned Forseti to her personal hall where her handmaidens and other ladies would fuss over him and Frigg could ruffle his hair and coddle him in all the ways a grandmother would coddle her grandson.

Her only grandson. Oh, Odin had others sure. And Frigg had, by proxy, step-grand-children through say... Thor. But Thor was also her brother and that made those also her niece and nephews. But Forseti was her only true grandchild. Baldr and Hodr were gone and unable to give her anymore. Hermod... well, the Foremost Among the Asyniur had long since resigned herself to the realization that Hermod was never going to make her a grandmother.

So she coddles Forseti and she knew she did it. She also knew that Odin probably wasn't the most fond of her coddling, so she would meet with him in Odin's hall. That and it was far more appropriate to bring Forseti for serious business in Odin's more formal hall. Not to mention how awkward it would be for her husband in Fensalir.

Even so, she couldn't restrain herself from running up and embracing her grandson the second she heard him calling for her. Frigg ran forward, arms extended and the second she could, wrapped them around Forseti's form. She loved him completely. She had loved his father completely. She still loved his father completely even though he was far from this world.

Frigg pressed her lips to his cheek, and took him by the hands. “Come, your grandfather and I have news for you,” and led him to where Odin was likely to be found.

Tired. Odin felt so very tired. Everyone needed to be told, and everyone certainly had a right to know, but he was getting tired of all these meetings. At least Thor's went well, so that was a plus. Hopefully Loki was able to stay well out of Thunder's radar, or that promise might not hold. Thor acted all too often without thinking things through.

Now, as he heard his grandson's voice in his hall, Odin knew there was yet at least one more that he had to handle personally. After Forseti, the rest could find out as they found out, probably through the usual channels of gossip. By then, the most critical players would already know and be prepared.

Hard. This one was going to be hard, he knew. The Alfather stood as his grandson entered the room, following his wife's lead though it was unbeknownst to him, and gave him a brief embrace before clapping him on the back.

Most of Asgard had reason to fear or hate the Trickster, but Forseti's was perhaps the most just reason of them all. Both his parents gone. His mother's death was her own doing, and as far as Odin was concerned showed a weakness he would never have expected of any resident of Asgard, but the blame would likely forever lay at Loki's feet. At least in the boy's mind.

"Come, Boy, have a seat." Boy. It would probably be how Odin would always think of young Forseti. Not that he was the only one- Odin still occasionally called his sons by the same title. One meant in fondness, of course.

Forseti felt comfortable at once. His grandmother had that effect on him. He had felt a bit out of place because it had been so long since he visited. He knew they understood of course. He had things he just did, and when they needed him here he was here. When any of the Gods needed his guidance he was there. He just, it still felt a bit empty.

Just a bit.

"It is good to see you both." Forseti took the offered seat and smiled at them. "Forgive my recent absence. I was thinking, and working a little with mortals. You know, to keep me busy. There's not as many disputes here anymore, which is good news." Just a little boring though.

Frigg moved to sit near Foresti, opposite Odin's position to him in an attempt to flank the boy. To have him be surrounded by people that loved him and would gladly guide him through the difficult news that was about to be laid at his feet. There was a mug of ale for Odin, but Frigg grabbed two bottles of beer from the nearby table and handed one to her grandson whether he wanted it or not.

The other bottle was for herself, stemware be damned... she wasn't that kind of Queen. Frigg took a drink from her bottle and looked over to her husband. He was going to lead this conversation. She was there for comfort. Well, that and if she broke the news there was likely to be a lot of unnecessary venom spat forth and that would be counterproductive.

“No news is good news,” she said with a soft, insincere smile. “Unfortunately, dear, we have news. Something has happened and you have a right to know and hear it from us first.” Which was absolutely true. How horrific if Forseti heard news that Loki was free from the gossip tree -the boy had lost his father to the Trickster's wicked deceit of Hod. Or worse, if he ran into Loki himself.

She shuddered at the thought.

Frigg was going to leave it to him to break the news, apparently. Which was right, and proper and all that. He was the king, he was the Boy's grandfather, and he was the one who had found out first. The responsibility fell to him.

Sometimes, very briefly, Odin wished he had died when he'd hung himself from that tree. This was one of those times. Would have avoided a whole lot of mess.

Fortunately, it was always a very brief thought. One he never actually meant.

"Things have taken a turn. Old, long buried things." He was beating around the bush, something he hadn't done with any of his own sons. He'd come right to the point, laying everything out. Why was his stance so different with Forseti? Frigg was here, she would be more than happy to do the necessary coddling if the boy took it badly. With that thought in mind, he proceeded a little less cautiously.

"The cave is empty." Only a little less cautiously. When had he become such a pushover?
