The summer continues its warming trend, though the proximity to the mountains and the breezes sweeping down off them ensure it never gets too hot. Granted, most people are going to be worried about things other than the weather ... all things considered.

Events
July 4 - It's still America, and as far as anyone knows, still independent. An Independence Day celebration starts around noon in and around the community center, though it might bleed into backyards and nearby businesses. Much like the recent block party, residents are encouraged to bring a dish to share, though local eateries that are up and running will be responsible for most of the meal. At 9:00 PM, there's a 15 minutes fireworks display over Goose Pasture Tarn, to the south of Breckenridge easily viewable from anywhere in town. Those interested in getting a closer view are welcome to take the short trip to the Tarn itself.
July 7, 17, and 22 - On three separate days of the month, there will be extremely unusual storms. While there will be a sort of rain, it isn't going to be normal. It's not acid rain, but there's definitely a non-rain texture to it, like it's dirty water somehow. Accompanying the rain on these days will be electrical storms. There won't be much by way of thunder, and the lightning will be blue and also not normal for the area. Anyone caught out in any of these storms will have their powers go wonky for a period of time - anywhere from two days to three weeks. Each exposure to a storm exacerbate the issue - everything from the ability not working at all, not working correctly, working more strongly than usual, or triggering at random. For passive/always on abilities, they'll flicker off and on at random. Each exposure to a storm will extend the issue another 2-21 days. (INFO POST; no future mod posts for this event)
July 9 - Rumors start circulating that the pony express is being rebooted. The rumors are confirmed by an announcement later that day seeking volunteers as riders, and indicating anyone who wishes to attempt to contact people by mail should submit their letters to the post office no later than July 11th. (INFO POST)
July 15 - Because the month isn't unstable enough, an earthquake hits the town at 1:12 PM. The epicenter is later to be reported roughly 150 miles north of Breckenridge, though reports vary. The quake itself is a 5.3, very easily felt by most people in town. Less stable buildings will rattle, things will fall off shelves, and some unstable objects may fall. Overall, the damage won't be awful, but it'll be noticeable. (No further info posts)
July 25 - Someone with a TV with an antenna caught a broadcast from Denver. Word spreads that Denver has working TV, and empty houses are checked for TVs with antennae that catch the broadcast. While the majority of the day is devoted to reruns of sitcoms and judge shows, there are news breaks at 5 PM and 11 PM. The news from Denver, while not directly anti-gifted human, has a very pro-human flavor, causing a little unease to trickle through town. Denver's not really that far away, after all ...
