Falling up for morganmuffle Title: Falling Up For:morganmuffle Author: Only Santa Knows... Rating: 13+ Summary: "Fillyloo play tricks on everyone, as you should know. They twist things around and around until no one knows which direction is which and start falling up instead of down."
"The fillyloo have had a nice lie down. Things shall get interesting again."
Seamus snorted softly, shaking his head as he continued to clean up the bar not far from where she sat. He never really understood the former Ravenclaw – she always had her head in the clouds, as his Da would say – but he had to admit that he liked her. Luna may be a bit odd, but she kept her tab paid up, was never rowdy or disruptive and she did keep things interesting as well. Watching her, he could see her lips forming unspoken words and she never looked up from the sprigs of herbs she was twisting and tying into a longer strand.
"And how will the fillyloo shake things up? Are we going to enjoy it, or is everything going to go pear-shaped?" He asked, coming closer to watch her carefully construct the trinket before her.
"And rosemary for memory." She was saying softly to herself, as a final stem joined the others. Once she had tied them into a charm, Luna offered it to him. "Fillyloo play tricks on everyone, as you should know. They twist things around and around until no one knows which direction is which and start falling up instead of down. You do not want that to happen to you, you could hurt yourself again."
"Then I'll just have to watch out for those fillyloo, keep them from bothering me." Waiving off the trinket Luna had made, Seamus offered her a second gillywater. "What else did you put in there? That's not all rosemary. Are they for memory too?"
"Hypericum, basil and vervain." Shaking her head as she stood, Luna quickly slipped the handmade necklace over his head. "You will see why. You shall need to wear it all the time, until they are resting again."
"Oh, is that so? And when will that be?" He didn't move to take it off, having learned early on in their friendship that Luna took her offerings seriously and when she insisted - truly insisted - to give you something she wasn't going to let it go.
"You will know when you know." Gathering her sprigs of herbs and bits of colorful string, she stood to leve. "Good luck and don't bollocks things up this time. They only give you one second chance. You want to fall the right way."
Other customers took up his attention as she left and Seamus gathered empties while joking with Felix Farsnip about last weekend's Quidditch match and the upcoming game between the Kestrals and Harpies. He put on a cheery face while he forced himself to not think about falling, up or down, or the one person he'd fallen for. He didn't think about how they had screwed things up, or how he was certain that he didn't need a fillyloo to ruin any chance he had of a second go at that relationship. If there had even been a relationship, they had barely moved out of the friendship stage into the 'testing the waters' stage.
When he heard the door opened and shut he automatically pulled out another gillywater, turning to where he expected Luna to have seated herself again. He could barely keep his breath from hitching in his throat when he saw who it really was.
"So," Dean said as he leaned against the bar in Luna's usual spot. "What's good here?"
It wasn't. But it was. Grinning, Seamus easily replied as he headed over. "What did you have in mind?"
Maybe Luna's charm worked against fillyloo after all.
