Who: Lavender Brown and Padma Patil When: Sunday, September 27, 1997; around 8pm Where: Gryffindor Common Room What: Padma comes to the Gryffindor common room to hang around with Lavender and catch up. Rating: PG, I think.
There were still a few random students lingering in the common room finishing up homework when Lavender came down from her dorm room. She had tried to go to sleep right after dinner but she didn't have any luck. Lately, nightmares had plagued her and Lavender often woke up several times during the night. Tonight was no different. Instead of just lying awake for hours on end, Lavender thought it best to get up and move around, but first she wrote in her journal to see if anyone else wanted to hang out with her. Once she was done, Padma wrote back to her rather quickly and they arranged to meet in the next few minutes.
While she waited for the knock at the Common Room door, Lavender's mind started to wander a bit. She was doing quite well in school so far this year. She had done all of her assignments on time and even studied a bit. That wasn't what she was worrying over. It was the strange men patrolling the halls and the heavy feeling of trouble hanging on her shoulders. She knew that she was no where as good of a Seer as Professor Trelawney, but she felt that she could See something coming. Something bad. The few times she confided in one of her friends, they usually rolled their eyes and told her she was being paranoid, but with all the business about the marriage law and with Professor Snape taking over and Harry, Ron and Hermione missing, how could anything good be happening? It was scary.
Not long after she sat down in one of the over-stuffed arm chairs by the fire, Lavender heard a noise at the door and got up to let Padma in. She walked quickly to the door and pulled it open to see the identical sister of her best friend standing there, "Hello," she smiled and stepped back to let Padma through, "Thanks for coming to hang out with me for a bit."
