Who: Lavender Brown and Neville Longbottom When: Thursday, September 24, 1997; around 10pm Where: Gryffindor Common Room What: Lavender and Neville catch-up on current things. She asks him about getting Dumbledore's Army back together soon. Rating: PG, I think.
There were still a few random students lingering in the common room finishing up homework when Lavender came down from her dorm room. She had tried to go to sleep right after dinner but she didn't have any luck. Lately, nightmares had plagued her and Lavender often woke up several times during the night. Tonight was no different. Instead of just lying awake for hours on end, Lavender thought it best to get up and move around. Perhaps read a book for awhile until she felt tired again. She grabbed a random work of fiction - romantic fiction - and collapsed into one of the stuffed arm chairs by the fire. With the dim light and the comfy seat, she was sure to get sleepy soon.
Lavender thumbed to the last page she stopped on and started to read about a young princess meeting a man who work for her father, the king. Romantic novels seemed silly to her, but she couldn't help but think they were fun to read. It was nice to escape reality for a little while, at any rate.
She only read about five pages when her mind started to churn with random thoughts. Lavender was doing quite well in school so far this year. She had done all of her assignments on time and even studied a bit. That wasn't what she was worrying over. It was the strange men patrolling the halls and the heavy feeling of trouble hanging on her shoulders. She knew that she was no where as good of a Seer as Professor Trelawney, but she felt that she could See something coming. Something bad. The few times she confided in one of her friends, they usually rolled their eyes and told her she was being paranoid, but with all the business about the marriage law and with Professor Snape taking over and Harry, Ron and Hermione missing, how could anything good be happening? It was scary.
It was several moments before she came back to Earth and realised that someone had joined her by the fire.
