Current music:Rage Against the Machine: Take the Power Back

Who: Parvati Patil & Neville Longbottom
What: Parvati and Neville purposely go against the Carrows' and sneak about after nightfall. Bad. Ass.
Where: Hogwarts
When: 22nd September, late night
Rating: PG/PG-13
Status: Open; incomplete

It was fast approaching midnight and the common room had mostly cleared out, more and more people leaving until the only ones remaining were those frantically finishing homework and those that planned to pull an all nighter. Quiet eyes watched body after body leave, concentrating more on his surroundings than on the homework opened on his lap. His quill was grasped in his hands and every now and then he scribbled something down on the parchment though it rarely was anything particularly insightful.

When both hands hit twelve, Neville dropped his homework down onto the floor, suddenly too energised to even bother pretending to care about Charms, and he leaned forward, elbows on knees and gazed into the flames licking the back of the wall in the fireplace. His eyes, dark and deep and brown, flashed lighter as he watched them, the dancing flames reflected in the dark of his irises and he stayed like that for a time, simply watching the life contained within the fire and waiting for Parvati.

Parvati had been up in her dormitory room, reading the new Witch Weekly while she waited for the other girls to fall asleep in their shared room. Dark hair had pinned pulled into her customary plaits, scarlet and gold ribbon weaved in and out of her locks. She flipped the magazine pages quietly, waiting for the time when she needed to go and meet Neville in the common room for their midnight excursions.

Hearing the clock in their room chime softly, she eased herself out of her warm bed, and slipped her feet into her shoes. She drew a sweater over her head, and began to descend as quietly as possible down the stairs. She emerged into the common room just as quietly, and smirked lightheartedly at Neville. "Is the fire that interesting?" she inquired, announcing her arrival.

The voice made him jump slightly, startling him out of his reverie and Neville blinked in shock at Parvati, cheeks flooding with colour as he realised he'd possibly looked far to intent on flames. Scrambling out of the chair, he grinned at her, trying as best he could to make it look as if he weren't blushing.

"Aye, well, not really. It was just...I was just waiting on you, really," he said, his grin turning slightly self-deprecating as he added, "And attempting to do homework but my attention wasn't really focused on it."

Sinking his hands into his pockets, Neville pulled out his wand and summoned his dressing gown. He wasn't in pyjamas and suspected that would be an important fact should anyone catch them whilst they were out but he honestly could not have been bothered and the cover a dressing gown could provide seemed like the next best thing. Hand reaching out to catch it, he pulled it on and grinned wickedly at Parvati, stepping towards the portrait hole.

"Ladies first," he said.

Parvati couldn't help it when a giggle escaped her mouth, and she nodded at him. He was adorable, really. She just wanted to squish him. A lot. And maybe buy him a teddy bear. But that was totally all beside the point.

She followed behind him excitedly, trying to contain her giggling from bubbling over too much, and instead slipped out of the portrait hole, and glanced over her shoulder at him. "That's okay.. I was pretending to read the new Witch Weekly for like.. two hours. It was kind of boring," she sighed exasperately, but then returned to her infectious smile.

"This is exciting, isn't it? It's almost like being back in the D.A. and sneaking around!"

Neville smiled slightly and nodded his head, not saying anything until they'd passed through the portrait hole and started walking down the hall, sticking as close to the shadows as was possible. He hadn't managed to discern any routine for checking the hallways for pupils out of bed but Neville supposed now was as good a time as any to start discovering relevant information such as this.

"It is a bit, innit?" he finally said when he trusted himself to speak and not be overheard. Despite the fact the majority of Gryffindor House was against the take over of Hogwarts by Death Eaters he didn't doubt that someone could be convinced to give up a fellow housemate easily enough. His jaw clenched slightly thinking about how they would be convinced to do so. "Sometimes I right think the D.A. shouldn't have disbanded as it has. Aye, not with the castle crawling with Death Eaters." The utter loathing contained within those two words was almost tangible as they left Neville's mouth.

Parvati had the distinctest urge to begin skipping, but feared the echoing from her shoes bouncing off of the walls would draw attention to them, and while defying the Carrows seemed like a splendidly splendid idea? She'd rather not receive a detention from them, thank you very much.

It would be easy to convince anyone, especially given the mere fact that Death Eaters now ran the castle and everything within it, which therefore meant the use of the Unforgivable Curses would become forgivable, in a sense, if used. The very thought petrified her.

"No.. I think you're right," she paused for a moment, and then continued on. "What if.. we brought it back together? I'm not sure, exactly, how it would work since they would probably get wise to a bunch of students disappearing away into a room once a week, or so.. But if would be a good idea to try and train and prepare the younger students that never had a chance to learn from Harry."
