Olivia "Livvie" Moon had spent all of dinner in the Great Hall simply picking at her food. She rarely had enough of an appetite to eat in public and lately she had quite a bit on her mind. Not only was she arranged to marry someone she'd never properly met in person, but she'd had the inconvenience of meeting him first through her journal.

Terry Boot was a Ravenclaw. A Ravenclaw with the backbone of a Gryffindor who'd spoken to her in a way no one had ever spoken to Livvie Moon in her entire life. His insults and shortness with her probably could've qualified him for a seat in Slytherin house too. He was, without a doubt, the most intriguing person she'd ever met without really meeting. This wasn't to say she wanted to meet him or had any desire to get to know him, it simply annoyed her. Livvie was used to being liked by the people who met her. She still hated Terry on principle, she'd rather fall off the top of the Astronomy Tower than marry him, but she wanted him to like her so she could at least feel like the natural order of things was restored and she was the superior one in this arrangement. After all, she was Olivia Moon, was she not? Any boy would have killed to marry her, so what exactly made this boy so different?

Clearly, he's never seen me up close and in person, she mused as she walked out of the Great Hall after dinner, taking her time and trailing a bit behind the crowd. After all, Livvie was good looking and Slytherin. Essentially, that was a recipe for being conceited as well.

After dinner, Terry had made his way to the library to grab a book that he needed for research on a History of Magic assignment, it was on the way there however that he realized he had left his planner in the Great Hall. He doubled back quickly, knowing that the title of the book he needed was scribbled in his untidy hand under today's date. It was as he approached the Great Hall that he rounded a corner sharply and nearly collided into another person. He apologized softly but didn't really take care to see who he had nearly run over.

Livvie gasped a bit as she narrowly missed a collision with a boy. She glanced up at him and noticed the Ravenclaw crest on his robes, "And with my luck, you're Terry Boot aren't you?" she said teasingly, not really thinking it was possible. He wasn't the only male Ravenclaw in existence.

He stopped in his tracks and turned toward her. The Slytherin crest on her robes caused him to frown instantly and he shook his head at his own luck. They both seemed to be pretty lucky in this instance, didn't they? "Yes," he answered easily. "Olivia Moon I'm assuming?"

"You assumed correctly. You are a smart Ravenclaw, aren't you?" she mused a bit and looked at him a moment. "Oh, by the way-- try to not look so happy to see me."

She was doing her best to pretend the situation was more amusing than it actually was. "How was your dinner?" she asked with all the manners that her excellent upbringing had provided her with.

"It was fine." He said briefly, wondering whether or not he should bother asking her about her own dinner, or class or her day or anything. Terry figured that as long as he kept it brief it wouldn't kill him. "And yours?"

"Nice." she shrugged, "a bit dull though. You know, all any of the seventh years talk about is the marriage law, all the fifth and sixths years talk about are their exams, the ones older than first year and younger then second year talk about who they can push around, and all the first years talk about-- whatever it was we found interesting when we were eleven." She shook her head and smiled, "By my third year I found it to be a slightly ridiculous and pointless cycle."

She tilted her head at him, "Where are you off to in such a hurry?" Oh, she was going to keep him in this conversation for as long as possible.

ooc older than first year and younger than fifth year* rather because it doesn't make sense as it is.

She was rambling, that much he knew and he had an idea why. Ever since they had spoken through their journals it had become something that had bothered her to know that he didn't like her. Not even as a person. "The Great Hall. I forgot my planner."

She paused and gave a soft thoughtful nod and turned to walk away, "Well, nice meeting you."

She froze a moment and turned back around, "Have you ever heard the expression, never judge a book by its cover? I mean, you certainly have it's a common one and you probably know about it in the literal Ravenclaw sense of the expression too, yes? Well, you probably shouldn't judge a person based on house and the fact that your situation with them is less than convenient for either of you. Because maybe that person is just as unhappy as you are and she finds it rather rude-- and surprising-- that she's the more polite one in the relationship." she sighed a bit once she'd babbled all that out. "I mean really, who's the Slytherin supposed to be in this arrangement?" she teased lightly and shook her head. "Good night, Terry."

She turned back around. She hoped he'd feel guilty or annoyed, either way-- she wanted him to stop her for her own selfish and slightly distorted reasons.

He stared at her back for a moment, letting her words sink in for a moment. It was more words that he had ever expected her to string together for his benefit. "I'm sorry," he called after her, figuring that it was the least that he could do.
