Kevin Ford ([info]a_deathtouch) wrote in [info]deadsexy,
Of all the people who could possibly cheer another up, Kevin was likely the last person in the universe that would be qualified for such a job. He had never even spoken much to Rogue before, but he'd known all about her. Everyone did. A part of Kevin wondered if he should talk to her. In fact, she would probably be the only one who could understand what he was going through, but it still wasn't the same. Despite the fact that she was beautiful and had plenty of friends of her own to talk to, he was certain that she would want nothing to do with a monster like Kevin.

It didn't stop him from thinking about her though. He knew that she was miles above him. Kevin couldn't even look at her without his face turning red, let alone think about her. It was useless to even consider anyway. With most organisms, if Kevin touched them, they would wither and die within moments, but if he touched Rogue, a situation that wouldn't and couldn't ever happen, not only would she die, but her powers would cause him to disintegrate as well. A twisted Romeo and Juliet scenario that gave Kevin shivers.

This was often the dark road that his thoughts turned onto though. He couldn't help it. He was so constantly aware of his powers, of his limitations in everything, from his inability to wear normal clothing to being unable to eat a simple sandwich, that it was all he could think about. Kevin saw death everywhere. He'd seen so many things die from his touch that it was all he could picture now. Everything he looked at, he saw two images of. One was of the normal, real picture and the other was the dead, ashes of it's former self. He couldn't help it. He was cursed and a cursed man was doomed from birth to death.

Still, there was nothing he could do about it. There was no permanent cure yet to save him and the one that was out there had horrible side effects that not even Kevin was willing to risk. Though he had very few friends, Emma was beginning to see that sitting alone in his room when he didn't have class was beginning to drive him crazy and had suggested he start getting out more. Unfortunately, the metal shop was being used right now so he couldn't be there, which left him very little preferable choices.

Instead, he was sitting outside, covered from neck to toe in his synthetic clothing and watching normal mutants enjoy themselves. It was incredibly depressing, but that's what he got for listening to his advisor. When Kevin saw Rogue coming his way, her beautiful skin turning to ash before his eyes, Kevin quickly shifted on the stairs in front of the school, moving out of her way and trying to be as obsolete as possible.
