I visited a town in New Mexico today and got some cherries in exchange for some peaches (our local fruit). It was cloudy there, but my host was very nice. :-)
It was the first time for both of us to use Wii Speak, the microphone that lets one whole room of folks connect to another! It certainly makes visiting much nicer, to be able to talk with others about what we're seeing, what we're doing, just generally chatting. :-)
Bunnicula is taking care of most of the landscaping and fossils and gyroids (when we start finding any).
I'm the import/export dealer, going out into the world to find new things for us. ::grin::
Animal Crossing: City Folk is feeling more fun for me now. :-)

(cross-posted [and slightly edited] from the gaming group I am in)
Instead of the viewpoint of "gotta catch 'em all!" (which is how I approached both the DS version and this one--which is daunting!), maybe just going to the town and city to *have fun* and not worrying about what we get or not get and when we pay off the mortgages would be a less-stressful, more enjoyable way to play the game.
I think once I get my full complement of tools, I'll feel happier. :-P Then I can go night-fishing, which I love. I think I might just go see if Wisp is around; and who is still awake and who is not.
If I am less obsessive about completing the catalogue (which I didn't in WW and which I'm pretty sure would take two or three YEARS to do in CF), I think I'll have more fun. :-D And that will take a lot of the competition out of it. So what if I don't get complete sets or series? I will eventually. Maybe I won't even join the HRA for a while! ::shock!::
And I know that Bunnicula will enjoy playing no matter what. :-) I think we'll trade off days as to who gets to forage for mushrooms. But we're BOTH going to be after Franklin! LOL!
I'm thinking of starting a second character who can pick up extra items (K.K. Slider songs, stuff like that), but who might never pay off his/her mortgage. hehehe He might even be named Occupant. :-D
In a better frame of mind,
Mousie

| Animal Crossing problems |
[19 Nov 2008|12:01am] |

The following is most of what I said this evening in a group I'm in devoted to video games.
Preface this with: the latest version of Animal Crossing allows for only one save-game/one town and up to four players. In the past Bunnicula and I had our own copies of the games/our separate towns. This time we would have to share a town.
Here is pretty much what I said:
Tonight, after Bunnicula and I having played today, we are having a discussion that is upsetting. B. thinks he should stop playing the game. In both the other versions, he and I always were able to help each other out with items and Bells and such. This time we are in direct competition with each other as to who gets what. And each getting only half the proceeds for things. Today he bought the fishing rod and net, thinking that if I held the items, they'd be in my catalogue (just like in the DS version). Wrong. So I borrowed his tools and paid off my mortgage, then gave them back. If I want to play late tonight, he'll have to get back into the game to give them to me again.
And how are we going to divvy up mushrooms? We each get one side of town? That just sucks.
I don't want him to quit, but I also feel we are both being cheated of having a whole town.
He says I'm the one who likes the more social aspect of the game and he doesn't care about WiFi-ing. He only visited my town and Cat'r's town, not others' towns (people he didn't know) in the DS version. So he sees that as another reason he should quit and I should have the entire town and game to myself.
I just hate that Nintendo has put us in this position. It's the opposite of cooperative play. I can see in the DS version where it *would* be cooperative play, all paying off one mortgage. But this isn't. We will be competing for Bells to pay off TWO mortgages.
I know he was looking forward to playing this game too, but he's the kind of person who thinks of others first; and it was his idea to not play anymore. That's just the kind of person he is. I love him and hate that it would have to be like that. :-(
I'm probably more upset about this than he is. He's very easy-going. He says he has lots of other games to play. ::sigh:: I'm over-reacting.
Stupid Nintendo. :-(
------------------------------
I guess we'll decide tomorrow what to do. If I play alone, I'll probably start over with a different town name, as the town name was the one he would've used if he'd had his own separate town. The name I would've used would've been a continuation of the names from Flora Thompson's books.

B. is still out shopping. I got the dishes done.
I made sure the time is correct on the Wii. I even made a new Mii for myself. You can get a makeover at Shampoodle in the City, using any one of your Mii faces!
Waiting waiting...........maybe I should knit.

Waiting for UPS to deliver our Animal Crossing: City Folk, the strategy guide, and the wireless USB keyboard that are on the way. They are due today.
We are going to have to have a town together. :-/ We've always had our own separate towns, to design and do with as we would. There is only one save-game per Wii with this version of AC. Grr.
Bunnicula has gone to the shopping center and to Fresh Market to get some things we need. I need to wash dishes.

Street date was yesterday, so some of our friends are playing already; I pre-ordered from amazon.com, so our copy won't arrive until tomorrow. :-/
However Bunnicula *did* get an extra strategy guide at GameStop today (we each need one and I forgot to order him one), so I've been avidly reading that this afternoon!
WOOHOO! *This* is the entire reason I bought a Wii over a year ago, for THIS game! :-D

Just a dusting, but *still*! :-) I woke up around 7am. Cat'r had been up for a couple hours and was fixing breakfast for himself. I was going to get more sleep, but looked out the window before heading back to bed...and saw SNOW! I raced back into the kitchen to tell Cat'r!
After we marveled a bit, I took a couple photos (they're not up yet). Then back to bed for a couple more hours' sleep.
Late this morning Bunnicula went out for a newspaper and upon returning told us it was flurrying a little...and COLD.
Cat'r and I went out to shop a little in the early afternoon. It was *crowded* at the shopping center; and it was COLD out! It was windy; and though most of me stayed warm, I should've warn a winter hat and not one that I had knitted for autumnal wear. And my NOSE got cold! I think our bodies are just not ready for this yet.

President-Elect Barack Obama will be giving a weekly video address that you can get from a variety of places, including his new web site Change.gov. After the inauguration, the addresses will be available at The White House's official site.
This is a version of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Fireside Chats for the 21st Century! How cool is *that*?! :-)

It rained all night, which is a Good Thing, since we need rain. It is a nice steady gentle rain. I had the window open around midnight, when I was having a late meal. Everyone else was asleep--very peaceful, with the sound of the rain.
I've got the window open now, and I'm having breakfast. Lots of tires-on-wet-pavement sounds from outside, and the sound of sizzling bacon coming from the kitchen. SMELLS yummy too!
It's in the low 40's now, and it's not supposed to get any higher today. By the end of the day, the temperature will have slid into the 30's. There may even be snow showers tonight!
