The derelict asylum sat silently in the darkness, the only signs of life were the scurrying of rats and other creatures seeking shelter from the storm. The wind blew wildly, causing the old iron gate at the ground's entrance to swing roughly around with a loud clang. Lightning flashed in the sky and a soft glow emanated from one of the normally darkened windows, only to quickly fade to black once more. Another bolt of lightning lashed out, splitting an old cadaver of a tree in the middle of the courtyard. Half of the wooden corpse crashed to the ground shattering an old wooden park bench where visitors once sat under the tree's protective shadow.

Inside, a rat sat nibbling on a piece of scrap in the corner of one of the many empty rooms only to squeak and flail about as something gripped him tightly. A moment later its headless body hit the wall and slid to the floor with a bloody trail in its wake as shuffling footsteps echoed off the walls.
