Who: Marlene McKinnon and Professor Ogden What: Ogden wants to speak with Marlene about something she let slip. Where: Arithmancy Class and then Ogden's office When: Just before the lightning strike. Rating: TBD, not high Status: Incomplete
Marlene carefully took time putting her things away as students filtered out of class. She watched them all as they left, first in groups and then more of a trickle, till she was the only one left in the room with Professor Ogden. Getting up, she shouldered her bag and walked up to his desk. Her mind ran through all the possible reasons that he could have to talk to her. As far as she knew her grades were one of the highest, if not the highest, of her year. She had not approached him yet this year about any extra credit and as far as she knew he was not running a tutoring program for other students. Usually he did not take much of an interest in the students either so she could only fathom what it was that he wanted to talk about.
Of course there was there was that underlying fear that somehow he had heard about her family. No one at school had found out anything about that, and she intended to keep it that way. But perhaps Professor Ogden knew someone, someone who had found out. Marlene had no idea what his politics were. Sure he was her favorite professor but that really did not mean much of anything to a lot of people.
Still, she put on her most pleasant smile and looked up at him from the other side of his desk. "You said you wanted to speak with me, Professor?" she asked innocently enough, even if her heart was starting to race a bit in panic.
