THE PROPOSAL
Who: Molly and Arthur Where: Empty Classroom When: Evening Rating: TBD Status: Incomplete Soundtrack: Why wait?
Arthur was nervous. He paced the floor. He counted the stones below him, trying to keep himself distracted as he waited. He was in an empty classroom on the second floor. It wasn’t just any empty classroom; he and Molly had shared their first kiss there. He remembered how nervous he had been then, and it was nothing compared to how he felt now. He could remember the first time he had seen Molly Prewett. They were eleven years old. She was standing a few yards away from him on the platform. He’d noticed her hair first – bright red that stood out from all the other girls. And then she’d turned around… And his heart had stopped right there in his chest. He’d known right then and there that there was no one else for him. From that moment on, it had been all about Molly. He would do anything for her.
Arthur had decorated the room. Small, twinkling balls of light floated across the room. He’d pushed the chairs and desks to the side of the room and spread a blanket across the floor. A dinner of some of Molly’s favorite foods was packed in a picnic basket. A violin in the corner of the room played on its own. The stage was set, all Arthur needed was the girl.
A noise sounded, the sound of footsteps in the hall, and he wondered if it was Molly. He’d told her to meet him there, and the time was almost here. Arthur held his breath, too nervous to breathe as he waited to see who was there.
