The moment Draco set eyes on Vasili, he had fancied himself in love. He had been on a business trip to Greece to check on one of his many Malfoy holdings, and had taken a late evening walk down to the beach. There were still a few people enjoying the sun of the remaining day and Draco had just turned to head back to his hotel when something in his peripheral vision caught his attention. He turned in time to see a dark head of hair emerging from the surf. He turned to watch and he could have sworn he felt his heart stop when the face appeared. He woke slowly, feeling warmer than he had in some time. He opened his eyes slowly, blinking against the harsh light of the sun shining through the window. Once his eyes adjusted, he took in his surroundings. The walls were wood, midway between light and dark burgundy in color. The furniture was made of the same, decorated in all different shades of brown. He lay back against the pillows, rubbing his eyes as he tried to recall how he came to be here. The only thing he could remember were bright green eyes and being cold. He ran his fingers through his hair, wincing when they came upon a large knot near the base of his skull.

Why I am recommending it: Now I really don't care for Harry/Hermione pairings, but the summary intrigued me and I wanted to see what it was all about. But Naia has managed to put a lifetime of Harry in 4 chapters. It's a Harry-is-betrayed with a twist for lack of a better word. It delves into exactly how prejudice wizards and witches are to those who have little/no magic, but yet when it's time for action on Harry's part, he refuses to co-operate, for why should he help wizards when those same wizards shunned him for most of his life? An intriguing story from beginning to end. And dude...I just read HET for pete's sake! You HAVE to read it now!

The last of the invited guests stumbled out the door and the house elves began the arduous task of cleaning up. The select few that had been invited to stay the night, congregated in the family room of Potter Manor. The warm glow from the fireplace, and the fairy lights on the Christmas tree in the corner were all the lights needed as each person settled into chairs, on the floor or wherever they felt comfortable. Someone turned on the wireless and the soft strains of Christmas music echoed around the room.

Chapter 6: Participation is Required...But Not Necessarily Requested

Harry took a short nap like she had promised and upon noticing the time, groggily made her way to the Great Hall for dinner. Walking through the semi-dark dungeon corridors gave her a sense of peace and calm she'd never felt before. As she was about to climb the stairs, the quiet sounds of someone crying caught her attention. She followed the sound down a corridor that was barely used and came to a locked door. She tried the handle but the door wouldn't budge. She waved her wand, discovering an simple locking spell, and quickly removed it. She opened the door and saw a young girl, a first year from the looks of her, sitting on the floor.

"Hello." Harry stated. The girl looked up, quickly wiping her tears when she noticed Harry's Slytherin crest.

"Hi." the girl sniffled.

Draco walked into his home, more tired than he'd ever been in his life.

He thought working for the Ministry would be rewarding and exciting. But it was dull and tedious and left him with a migraine and the urge to quit on a daily basis.

It also made him question why he did it. What was there for him to make him suffer the tedium day in and day out?

He walked into his bedroom and stopped. He stared at the figure laying in his bed, a shaft of moonlight caressing the angles and planes of the body he'd come to love.

"Harry." he whispered. Harry shifted in his sleep, causing the sheet covering the lower half of his body to slide down his legs. Draco saw he was only wearing black briefs, and his shifting exposed one rounded buttock to Draco's hungry gaze.

Harry must have sensed him there for his eyes slowly opened, their sleepy green focusing on Draco immediately. He smiled and whispered Draco's name in a husky voice.

Draco melted. He took off his own clothes and joined his lover in bed, inhaling his scent. He kissed the chest beneath his chin as he felt Harry's hands caress his back.

This is why he did what he did. Because he had something to look forward to at the end of his day.
