Summary: Scarlett brings the kids home from an extended trip

It had been a long time, too long actually since Scarlett and her children had been home. They went to the Voo-Doo Isles, presumably only to stay for a couple weeks and have Scarlett look after some of the livestock and perform some humanitarian work in the meantime. The children had to accompany her however since Terence couldn't stay home to watch them - his business was much too important.

The trouble was, that a couple days before they were supposed to port-key back home, Gwendolyn had caught a nasty fever and fell ill. They couldn't leave and Scarlett was distraught as it was, having run out of supplies and such. She had to rely on holding a makeshift clinic to heal more livestock in return for herbs that would bring Gwen's fever down to a point where she could travel and she would no longer be contagious.

It took quite some time, but her little girl was mending nicely and they had taken a port-key back - over 2 weeks after Scarlett's 30th birthday. It was fine with her though, she didn't like too much of a fuss being made.

Once home, TJ lumbered off to his room to reclaim his toys and most-likely fall asleep - port-key travel always made him weary. Scarlett was then left to bring Gwendolyn to bed to recuperate further. She stayed with her daughter, singing her to sleep and watched her carefully for a few minutes. Scarlett had almost fallen asleep herself before she sensed a presence and turned her head to find her husband, standing in the doorway but approaching to see Gwen sleeping soundly with a plush bunny tucked under her chin.

Terence scowled as he packed up his briefcase with work to do at home. The stupid Wizengamot had once again made an idiot ruling. As he was walking out of his office, he passed a picture of his wife and kids. Grinning, he reached a hand out and touched it gently. It had been far too long since he had seen them.

"Mrs. Brannigan," he said to the older woman who was his assistant. "Clear my weekend schedule. I'm going to the Isles to see my family."

"No sir," Mrs. Brannigan replied.

"Why not?" Terence objected like a first-year he was told he couldn't go to Hogsmeade.

"Because, your family returned earlier this evening," she returned to her work.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Terence's temper was rising fast.

"Because you were in a right state," she peered at him over her glasses. "And I wasn't about to let you go home to them angry."

"Whack job," he muttered as he hurried out the door to apparate home.

Terence flew through the house to Gwen's room. He stood in the door way staring at his sleeping daughter and wife.

"Hi," he said softly as he walked toward them, kissing Scarlett hello.

Scarlett craned her neck back and forth trying to get the kinks out as she stood up from her seat on Gwendolyn's bed. She was starting to feel the wearying effects of travel and supposed she looked glazed over and dreamy - but not so much that she couldn't accept a kiss from her husband.

"Hello yourself." Seeing him again after being away stirred up many things in Scarlett, but most of all she was glad to be home again, she hadn't intended on being away so long. She looked over her shoulder at their sleeping daughter and smiled. "She's fine now, just tired and missing her own bed." Scarlett searched Terence's eyes and slipped her arms around his waist.

	Terence reached down and kissed his daughter on the forehead and stroked her hair, while his wife stood up. He sighed happily as her arms wrapped around his waist. "I'm glad you're back, too." He kissed her again softly. "Is TJ still up?" He asked as they walked out of her room, closing the door. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Scarlett couldn't help a small smile when Terence leaned down, kissing Gwen's forehead. Their little girl turned in her sleep and wrinkled up her nose in an almost-waking glance before rolling over. It had been scary for all of them with her being sick so far from home, but Scarlett managed to keep a cool head to get her daughter home safely.

Now that she was out of danger, and they were all happily at home, she could relax. It seemed that her husband felt the same as he sighed under her touch and kissed her softly. Her eyes opened dreamily and she heaved a sigh of her own, wondering just how glad he was to have his family home.

They walked out of Gwen's room, letting her rest and strolled down the hallway arm in arm. "He should be. You know how he gets though after a trip. Needs to check on his dragons and warriors and once he counts them all..." Scarlett opened the door to their son's room and found him lying on his pillow, above the covers and clutching a plastic Chinese Fireball replica to his chest. "...and then he falls asleep."

Scarlett wandered in and tucked her half-asleep squirming boy underneath his covers, touching his nose lightly and kissing his temple. "He helped so much when Gwen was sick. You would've loved it - taking charge the way he did." Scarlett was whispering as she closed the door and joined her husband in the hallway yet again. "Have you eaten yet?" She touched the side of his face and could tell that he had had 'one of those days'.

	Terence listened and beamed with pride as she explained how helpful their son had been. He looked in at TJ and laughed. "Growing up to be the man of a house, eh?" "No, I haven't," he said looking at his wife. "I'll make the tea. If you make the sandwiches." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

She was laughing when Terence beamed brightly and seemed to puff up proudly when he heard what his son had done. "Wouldn't let anyone near his baby sister the whole time she was sick." With a playful look on her face, she loosened his tie and with a wink quipped back. "Yes he is. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to put on one of your suits and ask for coffee in the morning."

Scarlett's hand lingered on her husband's face, feeling the light beginnings of stubble under her fingertips. He was looking at her and she was staring back - sometimes he was so hard to read, but other times, such as this one, she knew he was happy to be home and have his family under one roof. "Sounds like a plan to me. And you can tell me how your day was."

"That's my son," Terence said with great pride as Scarlett retold the story about TJ's protectiveness. "That would be quite the sight to see, I must say."

After staring into his wife's beautiful eyes for several moments, Terence's stomach grumbled. "I think I need to eat. I haven't eaten since breakfast."

Terence walked into the kitchen and filled the tea kettle with water and put it on the stove, lighting the flame with his wand. "It was long, too long, and that's saying something."

He moved to a cupboard and got out two mugs along with some plates, silverware, and napkins.

Scarlett laughed softly at Terence's pride and wishing he could've seen his son being so protective. "Well if that was any indication of his behaviour in the future, I'm sure you'll get to see him in action for yourself."

They were standing there for quite a while, their eyes locked and Scarlett had the inkling to forgo the food and just... go to bed with her husband, whom she hasn't seen in almost a month. But it sounded as if he needed a good meal after the day he had. "I think you do." She said quietly as they made their way down to the kitchen.

Scarlett took out some bread while Terence filled the kettle - there seemed to be some left over roast beef in the ice box, so she took some of that out for the sandwiches. "I'm sorry." She said with a sympathetic glance and squeezing his hand lightly as he set the table. "Did everything get resolved though? Otherwise I'm sure you'd be up in your study."

"Hopefully," he said with a slight grin, but thinking, Not if I continue to let my work dominate my life.

He watched from the stove as his wife took the roast beef out of the ice box, grateful that he had had Brej, their house elf, make the dish yesterday. And grateful that he hadn't eaten it all.

"Nah," Terence hooked his arm around Scarlett's waist and drew him to her. "That's not the kind of work I want to do." He leaned in and kissed her passionately.

Scarlett winked at her husband, knowing that tone in his voice when he said 'Hopefully'. "You will." smiling at him as encouragingly as she could.

Brej had done an excellent job on the roast beef from the night before as it was still very tender and Scarlett only needed a fork to break the meat apart for the sandwiches. She was surprised that there was any left.

Scarlett finished off the sandwiches and cut them quickly with a spell as she was speaking and before she could even give Terence his plate, he had her spun around and in his arms - not to mention engaged in a very passionate kiss that left Scarlett's legs weak with want. She'd gone without being by his side for nearly a month and her body told her that was far too long an absence.

She kissed him back fervently, tugging lightly on his loosened tie to bring him closer before slipping her slender arms around to his back.

Terence's body pulsed with energy as he tasted his wife. It had been way too long since they had been intimate... since he had been intimate with any one. Despite the enormous opportunity to do otherwise, Terence had been faithful during his wife's absence.

A shiver of delight went through him as her arms slipped around to his back. He nipped at her neck teasingly, then moved his head back, grinning evilly.

"What do you say we warm the food up later? I mean, we have warming charms for a reason, right."

He took a long finger and traced the outline of her jaw.

Everything seemed to be moving in slow motion outside Scarlett's body, but inside she was in a flurry and wanted so many things in that instance. Especially when their kiss ended with a soft sigh and then a gasp, equally as quiet, when Scarlett could feel her husband's teeth nipping gently at her neck.

He had that look in his eye, all over his face actually, an evil grin on his face ... not malicious, she just knew what he was thinking when he smiled like that.

Scarlett caught her breath and smiled a mischievous grin of her own when Terence suggested that they let their dinner be for a while. "I think we can manage that." She raised an eyebrow and took his hand in hers, first kissing and then sucking gently on the finger that traced a trail along her jaw.

"I'm glad we're in agreement," he whispered back.

A shiver ran through Terence's spine and he shifted forward in his seat as his wife's wrapped around his finger. He loved it when she did that. She was so good at it.

"It's a shame the kids are upstairs," Terence said with a childish grin.

He then stood up and started to carry his wife toward the stairs. "I've missed you, Scarlett, I really have."

Scarlett loved the reaction she got every time she teased him mercilessly with a rarely used flirtation. She hummed slightly when she was finishing, watching Terence move slowly, pouting about the kids being upstairs. "Well, that's what silencing charms are for dearest." she said matter-of-factly.

With her husband bending slightly and scooping her up, she was glad to hear that she was actually missed. "Really? You may just have to prove it... and I can show you in return."

Her husband's strong legs carried them up the stairs easily, cheeky grins being tossed back and forth until they reached their bedroom and Scarlett easily pushed the door open with one hand, simultaneously kissing her husband and almost halting them with her insistence.
