Ginny headed over to George's shop from Madame Malkin's. She had been given a thirty minute lunch, and Ginny planned to visit George for that time. She smiled as she approached the door and saw him sitting at the counter working on something.

Ginny opened the door and walked over to the counter. "Please tell me you aren't doing the paperwork. I told you I would pick it up today and return it on Thursday. Or is this a fake set of papers that you were filling out horridly wrong and then you were going to surprise me with and say April Fools?"

Ginny set two different gifts on the counter. One gift bag and one gift box. Inside the large white bag was George's old Quidditch sweater, his old Gryffindor scarf, and a miniature Quidditch equipment set. "Open the bag first, and then the box is next."

Ginny pushed the large bag toward George, and scooted the small blue box to the side. "Happy Birthday!"

George was in the shop, poring over receipts and accounting paperwork that Ginny had told him to not put his hands on... most likely he'd mess them up. But he needed something to look at, something to do instead of thinking of his birthday and the half of him that was always missing - he always felt more empty on this day... a second fiddle to one later in the year.

But when Ginny came in, he put on a brave face and held up his hands in surrender. "You got me... I'll leave them for the expert." He smiled kindly at his sister but gave her an exasperated look when she presented gifts! "Gin, you know you shouldn't have."

He gulped as he opened each gift in turn, following Ginny's instructions and felt greatly moved - looking over the mini Quidditch set and feeling the fabric of his old Jersey in his hands. The scarf though he flung jauntily over his shoulder and stood up, taking his little sister into a huge hug.

"Thank you sweetheart... these are very thoughtful, I can tell you went to a lot of trouble." He held onto her for a little too long most likely but, then again, she was probably expecting him to be overly emotional.

Ginny smiled at her brother when he held his hands up in surrender. "Always remember that."

Ginny chuckled when he gave her an exasperated look. "I shouldn't have, you're right. But I just couldn't help myself. I know this is isn't the best day for you. And I wanted to try and cheer you up."

Ginny held on to her brother tight when he hugged her. She didn't mind the extended time that he held her. She understood he was going through a hard day. As she hugged him she had a thought. "Why didn't you ask someone to take your shift for the day? You could have taken Kings out to lunch to help celebrate your birthday! He would have put a smile on your face."

When George let go Ginny grabbed he little blue box and handed it to him. Inside was the gift Ginny couldn't wait for George to see. It was a gag gift she had instantly thought of when Susan had told Ginny she and George were together.

As George opened the gift and saw what was inside, Ginny repeated the saying that was posted next to the condoms. "To protect your 'Wand' from 'Hogwarts' when entering her 'Chamber of Secrets'. What it's really for is to make sure Mum doesn't have any more grandchildren just yet. Susan told me you two were together, and I couldn't resist. Besides, what kind of sister would I be if I didn't get you a gag gift on your birthday?"

George let go of Ginny, by and by, pausing to cover up his sniffles at one point and try and hide everything he was feeling. "It's alright, Kings and I had very strange looking pancakes that were nothing like 'mum makes them'. We blew bubbles in our chocolate milk and he made me smile all morning. I didn't get in until maybe an hour ago so..." George shrugged and rubbed the back of his head. "He's promised to help me blow out my candles tonight when I pick him up at Mum and Dad's. I think I'm gonna go up to the castle." George sighed and remembered to be careful. "Going to see Susan you know?"

And as if telling Gin that he was going to see Susan didn't make him turn red enough... the gag gift certainly did the trick. "Good Lord! Fred and I really were a bad influence on you weren't we!" He was laughing so hard though and reading the box over and over again. "Although these may come in handy in the future Gin, and I appreciate the precaution, I don't think we want to rush into anything. So there's no worries about becoming an Auntie again." George winked and set the box down behind the counter where no impressionable youths could see.

"Thanks baby sister, I knew I could count on you for a smile or several!" George hugged her again before sitting down behind the counter. "You should come over this week, Kingston's been asking for you... we could have some dinner or something. Sound good?"

Ginny pretended she didn't hear her brother's sniffles, but they were kind of hard to miss since he was still near Ginny. She chuckled when George told her about his morning with Kings. "Nothing better than blowing bubbles in your drink. I bet he's telling Mum all about it right now. And she is thinking 'What did I teach that young man? Never blow in your drinks unless they are hot!' You're in for it. And when you go to the castle, tell Susan hello for me."

Ginny laughed hard with George when he opened his gag gift. "Yes, you guys were. And I'd watch out for your cake tonight. You never know what might have happened to it with Kings there. And Mum has picked up a couple of your tricks."

"It's not that I don't want to be an Auntie again. I love being Auntie Ginny. I just think that there is plenty of time later. So I'm glad you won't be rushing into anything."

Ginny returned George's hug. "Yes, I'm always around for that. I would love to go over there this week. I sure do miss my Kings. And if I don't visit him often, I might be forgotten. And I most certainly can't have that."

"Well Kings certainly liked the opportunity to have the bubbles in his drink. I usually don't encourage that, but... " George shrugged, basically saying that it was a special occasion so, why not. "Mum would have a very stern look on her face that's for sure. She never needed words, well, except for Fred and I." George laughed again and nodded when Ginny asked for George to say hello to Susan for her.

He was still laughing and reading the back of the packet of condoms when Ginny said to watch out for the cake. "I don't know if I've instilled any kind of mischief like that in him yet... we'll see though."

"I know sweetheart, don't worry, we're taking things slowly." George really did like Susan very much and he didn't want to screw anything up. He hugged his sister again just as she was answering his invitation to dinner.

"Sure come on by or send me an owl whenever you're hungry and we'll work something out - Kingston will be all over Auntie Gin so, be prepared. But we all know you love it." George eyed Ginny with a small smile on his face.

"I bet he did. Though just between you and I, I let him blow bubbles when at my house. I figure that's a special occasion too." Ginny laughed remembering all the times their Mum had yelled at the twins. "Mum needed words with you, yes. But sometimes she got so angry she couldn't find the words to say. I think those are the times she just wanted to ring your necks."

Ginny gave him a 'Yeah right!' look and chuckled. "He's a Weasley and your son. It comes naturally for him. No instilling necessary."

"Of course I love it. It makes me feel special. Besides, who could resist Kings? He is the cutest thing alive! But I'll owl you before I come. I don't know when I can, but I will!"
