Summary: Neville goes for a pint and to talk with his mate
Completion: Incomplete

Neville had a long, dizzying day. What with the students not really paying any attention being Monday and all. Then the stack of parchment that just seemed to be a chore when all he wanted was to be around Megan. His thoughts turned to distraction and he ended up watching out the window and just thinking on all sorts of things while he waited for Helios to return. She must have her hands full today. Neville thought before looking at the clock.

He couldn't really sit still much longer but wanted to give Megan her space if she really was busy, so he decided to head out and get a pint, maybe talk a bit with Harry. Neville hadn't seen his friend since... well since back in January and he chastised himself for not going to the pub earlier, just like he felt guilty not calling on Luna sooner either.

The pub was still quiet but he liked it that way. Seeing Harry behind the bar, he nodded and smiled in Harry's direction, happy to sit on one of the stools and offer a hand in greeting. "Hey mate. How's business?

Harry had had quite the eventful day, for once. Instead of sleeping in and spending the majority of the day either cleaning the pub from board to rafter or chasing Aberforth and his goats out while he tried to have some peace, he'd actually ventured into London to establish a new supplier for Muggle liquor.

Having only just arrived back just in time for the early evening crowd coming in, Harry had only been back for just over an hour when a familiar figure came in the door.

Harry ignored the hand offered to him as Neville approached the bar; instead he leaned over and gave his long-time friend a hug, pulling back to offer a somewhat sheepish grin.

"Hey yourself. Doing all right here, how's the new crop of Hogwarts finest?" He greeted in return. He was genuinely happy to see Neville, someone who he'd always had a huge soft spot for. It didn't matter how many years passed, he would never be more proud of anyone than he was of the man now sitting in front of him. Well, except perhaps Teddy. But Teddy was like a son and that didn't really count, in Harry's mind. "Can I get you a drink? On me, mate."

Neville laughed quietly when Harry leaned over the bar and forwent the handshake for a hug instead. I should know better by now. He returned the hug though, clapping Harry on the back before they parted and Neville settled in, smiling and glad to see Harry in good spirits.

"The crop's turning out well considering the kids are so inattentive lately. I keep wondering if we were this bad." His brow furrowed when he tried to remember once again what he had been like before the years when all thoughts turned to keeping his friends alive and sort of... drawing fire.

"Oh, I can't let you do that mate, this is your business. I'll just have a pint of lager."

Harry couldn't help but smirk.

"Most of us were that bad, I'm sure. You and Hermione were probably the only exceptions," He confirmed, nodding a bit before moving away to fill a pint glass with the best lager. He set it in front of Neville, pulling out a rag from his back pocket and wiping the bar free of condensation.

"My business, my choice of who I booze up for free." He stated, shoving the rag back into his bum pocket. "Now stop arguing and drink up, mate." He leaned against the bar, thoughtful as he considered his friend. "Thanks for the invite to your party, Neville. I'm sorry I wasn't more...social. There's no denying my social skills are sadly lacking these days, what with only interacting with people here for the most part."

He was laughing at what Harry had said about himself and Hermione. "Hermione was only good because she's smart, I had to pay attention because I was not the best scholar." Neville raised an eyebrow making his point. The only time he'd really been rebellious was when he was trying to draw off the Carrows' from other students - and it really wasn't much of a school in that year.

Neville accepted the pint with a shake of his head and watched Harry mop up some droplets from the bar. "Next time then, you can't get away with it twice in a row." Raising an eyebrow he took a sip of the amber liquid and settled in to talk with his mate.

"You're welcome... and it's alright. It was just a good chance to see everyone and get together again. Even if you didn't feel so sociable, it was good to see you out and about." Neville set his drink down on the bar for a moment and leaned on his elbows. "You should come out to the house sometime on the weekends. I'm usually out there in the greenhouses...if I'm not in Hogsmeade at the Orphanage." He knew his friend had grown introverted over the past few years... well, even more so as to not draw more attention to himself. Neville knew what that was like, but for different reasons.

"Well, that's to your credit then. I wasn't the best scholar either, but you really excelled at Herbology. I never understood your fascination with plants, but I think it's great you've got a life long passion." Harry told Neville with a gentle smile, leaning against the bar again and propping his head up on a bent arm. "I think it's always better for students when they're learning from someone who's passionate about the subject."

Harry definitely spoke from experience there. He remembered in their school days and how much more interesting it was to learn from a professor who loved the subject he or she was teaching, rather than the boring droll of someone who really wasn't passionate about anything(History of Magic came to mind).

"Yeah, it was. I just feel bad for not really talking to many people. It's been so long since I've really been out and about, y'know? It becomes habitual after a while, just interacting with people in my safe little box." He gestured around him to imply the Head. "I pop over to the Orphanage once in a while to be honest, usually at night to read the little ones stories before they go to bed. The lights are already out, I'm not even sure if they know who I am. I sort of like it better that way."

Neville never could take a compliment easily but he smiled nonetheless. "Well, when you're really not so great at everything else, you tend to latch onto the one thing you know you can do well. Everything else seemed to catch up." Turning his pint on the coaster, Neville thought over what Harry had said and he knew what he meant. "They captivate the students and show them there's more to learning than just books. At least that's how I try to teach."

He remembered nodding off sometimes in Professor Binns' classes and Divination was none too great either but, he was determined to try and make something of himself so he had to apply himself.

"Well, if it's any consolation I thought you did well and really, you get to see a lot of people walking in here." Neville smiled when he heard that Harry stopped by to read to the kids at the Orphanage. "That's great Harry, I know most of them really like hearing stories... at least you don't get bows in your hair. The little girls like tea parties... but then, they're too adorable I can't resist." Not to mention that he was seeing the kids more often whenever he went to visit Megan. "I've actually been dating Megan Jones... so, I'm there quite a bit. But even if we weren't, I think I'd still be there as often."

He knew Harry would know why Neville spent so much time donating his time and goods to the Orphanage... though Neville had his gran, his parents were all but dead, and then Harry's parents. Neville always had a spot in his heart for kids who needed someone to look up to, and if he could be one of those people, then he'd do everything he could.

"Neville, the only thing you ever lacked in school was self confidence. There wasn't anything wrong with your abilities." Harry chided gently, meaning every word. "Mmm. If I ever taught, it'd be Defense Against the Dark Arts." He admitted with a sheepish grin, pushing a hand through his messy hair almost in embarrassment.

"I suppose. I do talk to a lot of people, but it's still sort of...isolated. My conversations usually center around my customers and their lives, in a structured setting," He explained, nodding and giving a little wave to an older witch that had just taken a seat down the way; a regular. "I'm not daft, yeah? I realise that this isn't the real world."

Harry held up one finger to let Neville know he'd be right back, moving down the bar to assist the old witch. He fetched her the usual order of a pint of hard cider with a shot of firewhiskey dropped in it and then returned, a pint full of cider for himself in one hand.

"Sorry about that. Anyway, so you're dating then? That's wonderful!" He grinned. "No, no bows in my hair. I don't like going during the day. Did that once and the next day, my picture was in the Prophet. You know that I like publicity just as much as I like cockroach clusters." He wrinkled his nose in disgust before taking a long drink from his pint. "Been thinking of using my cloak and just going in the back door, though. Maybe bring Teddy with me, I think it'd do him some good."

Neville knew Harry was right - though he thought that the self-confidence was directly linked to having abilities, and he didn't have many until he got older. Upon hearing Harry's class of choice if he were to ever teach, Neville wasn't surprised. "Well, you do have past experience in that subject, even if only a few of us know how good a Professor you were." Neville smiled and remembered when he was finally able to pull off 'Expelliarmus'... and now he was the Professor.

He was nodding along, understanding exactly what Harry was saying until he was beckoned to help one of his customers. Neville sat sipping at his lager until Harry returned with some cider for himself. Neville, of course, couldn't help but beam when he thought of Megan and with Harry thinking it was wonderful, he thought of her even more. "I am.. and Megan's just, well like you said, wonderful." Neville blushed and looked into the depths of his lager.

Understanding again what usually happens to Harry when he goes out anywhere to do something nice for people - publicity. "The kids would get a thrill out of seeing you appear out of nowhere." Neville laughed somewhat and nodded again. "Even if Teddy wanted to come along next time and help me unload some of the produce I usually bring, he'd be very welcome... both of you."

Harry grinned almost bashfully as Neville mentioned Dumbledore's Army. Despite the horrors going on in school, Harry looked back very fondly on those hours spent in the Room of Requirements, teaching his fellow students how to use defensive spells, how to duel; how to believe in themselves. Neville had shown the most improvement, of course.

"I wouldn't have called me a Professor. I didn't teach anything, except perhaps the Patronus Charm, that you lot hadn't already learned. I just...taught it in a different way, I expect." He explained with a little shrug, staring down into the amber liquid of his own pint full of cider. "I sometimes miss those lessons..."

He grinned, waving a hand away dismissively and nodded as Neville talked more about Megan. Harry didn't know her well, but she certainly seemed nice enough. Anyone who could make Neville happy was all right in Harry's book.

"Anyone who can make you blush and smile like that," Harry pointed knowingly to Neville's flushed face, "must be wonderful."

Harry shifted his weight, becoming thoughtful and somewhat pensive as Neville continued on about the kids at the orphanage.

"I dunno. Do kids these days even know about the War anymore?" He asked, shaking his head. "It's a new generation, yeah? I know that Teddy has very limited knowledge of it. I mean, he knows I took part in it, and that his parents died fighting in the final battle, but...well, he doesn't know my full involvement. I've sort of tried to shelter him as much as possible from it all."

"Well, we may not have thought of you as a Professor, but we did learn a hell of a lot Harry. You actually wanted to teach us to defend ourselves instead of just hearing about what could happen." Neville noted the wistful look on Harry's face when he'd talk about the lessons. "I miss them too, they were fun, even if I was behind at the beginning, I liked seeing everyone."

Neville could feel his ears burning with the blush that was probably creeping up his face. "She is... it's really new still and we're going slowly, but I'm... I really like her, a lot." He was going to admit to Harry that he was falling for Megan very hard, but he knew his blush would tell the story for him. Harry was always very perceptive.

"They probably don't know about the war, but I'm sure if one of Miss Megan's friends showed up from under an invisibility cloak they'd want to know about the adventures you've had with it - and not even the ones pertaining to the war." Smiling over another sip to his lager, Neville knew that Harry wouldn't really want to talk of the war, but regular mischief and tales of sneaking about after hours might entertain the kids. "It's good though, that Teddy knows that his parents were so courageous, but letting him know it was the past and we've been moving on peacably... Teddy's very lucky to have you around."

"Of course I did. Cedric's death was still so fresh in my mind, yeah? Besides, that toad Umbridge was completely useless in a time where we really needed to learn those things." Harry explained needlessly; Neville was one of the last people who needed to be reminded of those days. "Are you having a laugh? You were the biggest success, Neville. No one improved more than you did."

Harry watched as Neville's blush reached his ears, grinning a bit. It was hard NOT to see how much Neville fancied this Megan girl.

"Mmm, well who knows. Maybe she's the one, yeah?" He took a drink from his pint, leveling his mate with a knowing look. "Just relax, you don't have to do anything but be yourself."

Once again Harry held up a hand in pause, shuffling off to assist a customer that had just taken a seat at the bar. He set the man up with a pint of cider and returned, flashing an apologetic smile.

"Er, maybe I'll forego the cloak then. I haven't really been bothered by publicity lately," He said, considering just going up to the Orphanage one day without notice. He couldn't help a sad little smile as Neville continued talking about Teddy and his parents. "It's sort of...a fine line with him. To be a parental figure without making Ted feel like I'm trying to replace his father. Making sure he knows about his parents and everything they believed in and fought for, without exposing him to the horrors of the war...I don't know how lucky he is, I've no idea what I'm doing. He just...doesn't deserve to grow up like I did."

Neville remembered the year so well, he was actually surprised he remembered it so vividly. "She was really useless wasn't she?" he laughed and shook his head. "You probably saved us more than you know Harry." Blushing even more at being complimented he was happy that his mate thought so well of him. "I tried my best is all. And... I had something to fight for." True, his parents hadn't died like Harry's did but, still, they were a very good reason for Neville to prove his worth and help his friends through a very tough time.

Talk of Megan being the one made Neville's heart hammer hard against his ribs. "Maybe she is..." he only whispered, daring not to say anything more, not wanting to jynx anything because really, Neville had never felt that way about anyone before. "We'll see."

"The kids love when visitors come, cloak or no - if you play with them and just have a good time they love it." Even a game of wizard chess, or... tea parties are helpful to the kids and Neville loved being there so Harry might want to spend more time with the kids too. Neville hadn't seen Teddy in a while so he really had to take Harry's word for how he was. "Still, Remus and Tonks must have known that you would do a great job with Teddy... so there's something in that I'm sure." Neville raised his glass in a cheers and smiled. "You can be sure he'll know his Herbology back and front, I'll make sure of it... you know, just in case he needs some Gillyweed."

"We've done right by them, Neville." Harry assured his friend, offering a fond smile. The smile faltered and he looked down at his drink. "Well, you have at least."

Harry perked back up but said nothing more about Megan, not wanting to give Neville too hard of a time.

"I think it's also great for them to have an adult to relate to, someone who had something short of an ideal childhood. All kids need someone who understands where they're coming from," He said thoughtfully; growing up he'd always been the only orphan he knew, which had been a very isolating experience. Besides the fact that Dudley made sure no one befriended him. "I suppose, though I doubt they actually thought they'd need me to step in." He frowned, then blinked in surprise. "That's right. Merlin's sagging bumcheeks, has it really been that long? I suppose it won't be too much longer before we can expect Teddy's letter. Little blighter's full of magic already, I'm sure he'll be one of the most talented wizards Hogwart's seen in a while!"

"We both have... I know. It's bloody hard sometimes to know for sure since we will never hear it from them, but I think we have." He thought about his addled parents - his Father always just sat staring, and his mother - while knowing that Neville was 'someone' in her life, she would never remember just how important he was.

"Well, there's plenty of us to stop in and say hello, let them know they have older people they can talk to, even if it's just playing."

Neville snorted somewhat into his lager when Harry referred to Merlin's backside comically. "I have no doubt that he will! Maybe he'll become an animagus as well... may run in his blood." Taking a napkin from off the bar, Neville dabbed at the lager droplets he'd spurted in surprise a moment before. "So he's shown his first sign then?? May I ask what it was? I always like hearing these because they were always better than mine was." Neville laughed at himself and at the memory of his first sign of magic.

"Like I said, you have. I've...well, let's face it. I've been wasting my days holed up here." Harry shrugged, then looked at Neville curiously. "How are your mum and dad? I mean, I'm sure they have their good days and their bad days, yeah?"

Harry sat contemplating Teddy's future and finally shook his head.

"Well, neither of his parents was an Animagus. But he's been a metamorphmagus since the day he was born," He explained, grinning a bit. "He's started to turn his nose into all sorts of things, just like Tonks use to! Besides that, I've caught him doing little things. Like levitating rocks the other day and stacking them one atop the other." He ran a hand through his hair, contemplating his next words before going ahead. "Did I ever tell you I became an Animagus? Took a few years, but I managed it."

"I try..." Neville trailed off and watched his friend downplaying his daily life. "Some people just need someone to talk with, and as co-owner of the pub, I'm sure you get a lot of people looking to you to lend an ear. Listening helps more than you know." Turning his glass on the coaster, Neville looked up. "They're doing well.. and yes, it's mostly good days. I mean, you saw them.. they're not dangerous the way some people go mad, they're just - quiet, distant. And Mum's more like a child than anything so, they're well as can be expected." Neville gave Harry a weak but heartfelt smile inquiring after his parents like that, it was nice of him.

He nodded his head, mentally kicking himself in the arse when he was reminded that Remus wasn't an animagus after all... he'd always forgotten. Neville listened to all of Teddy's talents with a quiet smile on his face, trying to picture a tiny baby contorting his nose with no knowledge he was doing it. "He sounds like he's got a lot of talent running through him, no doubt he'll do his parents proud as well."

Neville's eyes shot up and he smiled brightly. "Really? That's brilliant Harry... are you able to say what you can turn into, or do you like to keep it a mystery?" Neville didn't want to pry, but he was intrigued.

"Well, I can't help but think that they'd be disappointed in me. That I should have become an Auror, or a professional Quidditch player or something." Harry admitted with another shrug, scowling down into his pint glass before taking a long drink from it. "Maybe I'll go visit them sometime. I think your mum liked me," He said, returning Neville's weak smile with a wider one.

"Ted's just overflowing with talent. I see so much of his parents in him, but I try not to tell him that too often," He mentioned, "I remember how after a few years of hearing it constantly myself, it got really old."

Harry couldn't help but beam a bit as Neville commendedd him for his accomplishment.

"Gyrfalcon. Sort of white and grey bird," He answered with a proud smile, chest puffing up a bit. "I really thought I'd be a stag like my dad, but I expect flying is too natural for me not to be of the feathery variety."

Neville shook his head and raised his eyebrows while he tried to reassure Harry. "I don't think they would've been disappointed at all, you can't think like that, trust me." Both of Neville's parents had been Aurors... and if he let himself think on it, he should have been one too. But being a Professor makes him happy. "You only need to be whatever makes you happy and comfortable. Even if you had a very demanding grandmother." He laughed into his lager and nodded when Harry mentioned visiting his parents. "Mum did like you, she's more attentive than Dad is. I'm sure they'd love a visit. I'm actually going to see them soon. Let me know if you want to come along."

Whether Harry knew it or not, he could identify with his mate, quite a lot actually. For years he'd heard what great people and Aurors his parents were.. and he was just, Neville. It was probably the same with Harry, only he inherited all of their talents and it was more recognizable. "Maybe only save it for special occasions then, when it would mean the most and just enjoy seeing Remus and Tonks in him the rest of the time."

Sliding his lager aside, Neville leaned on the bar and listened attentively, liking the proud expression that Harry wore. "That's brilliant mate! I'd probably give it a go but...I'm more of the plant person and I don't think turning into the Whomping Willow would be very good for my social life."

"Maybe not. But everyone expected such great things of me. For me to become an Auror, or professional Quidditch player or sommat," Harry waved his hand dismissively, frowning. "I would have loved to have done, but the publicity was too much. Instead I became an unsocial lush." He grinned at that one, finishing his pint as if in demonstration. He left to go fill it back up and to tend to a few other customers before coming back, wiping his hands on a rag once he set his new pint down.

"I'd love to come with you to visit your parents, Neville. I'm honored that you asked," He responded to his friend's earlier question. He knew it couldn't be very often that Neville asked people to accompany him to St. Mungo's. He remembered the time, years ago, when he'd witnessed the exchange between the then awkward teenager and his mum. He guessed that Neville probably still kept every gum wrapper he was given.

"Still can't believe Teddy is turning out all right. I mean, Andromeda is wonderful with him. She's got practice! But me," He gestured helplessly, "I've never been around children, nor did I grow up knowing how they're suppose to be raised. I was neglected while Dudley was doted over to the point where he probably still hasn't got a clue how to take care of himself. But somehow, Teddy is all right. Miracle, really."

Harry rolled his eyes when Neville downed his magical abilities, taking a slow sip from his cider before setting it down again.

"Neville, I doubt you'd turn into a plant, as much as you love them. I've not ever seen you not accomplish something you set your mind to," He encouraged with a warm smile. "If you're really interested, I could help you."

"Who really matters though? You or 'everyone else' who expected all of these things from you?" Neville knew the pressure of expectations, it weighed on him every weekend. "If you didn't like the publicity then, it's all up to you."

He knew that Harry would accept the invitation - really there were only a couple people he would ask to see his parents with him. One being Harry, and the other being Megan. Though he wouldn't ask Megan for a while yet, he wasn't entirely ready for that. "I'll let you know the next time I'm going yeah? Should be soon but still, notice is nice." Neville was always slightly nervous going to see them, but it would help having Harry there with him. Then maybe he would be ready to ask Megan.

Neville shook his head and wasn't sure if Harry really saw the benefit of how he was treated when he was young. "Well, at least you know how to treat him well - growing up with Dudley you must have had 'I'll never do that to my kids' kind of thing. Even though Teddy isn't yours, you can still care for him in the right way." His eyebrow was raised when he finished off the last bit of his lager and leaned on the counter.

"It'd take me twice as long to master than it took you though. Still... I'll think about it. Might come in handy to be an Animagus." Neville didn't know what he would be, but the thought was intriguing and altogether exciting - if he could pull it off, it'd be a major achievement for himself.

Harry just shrugged. This many years later, he wasn't sure anymore what he'd wanted more. Anonymity or to do something worth while. Neville was right though, and besides. Hadn't he done enough?

"Sure, just send me an Owl or something. If it's during hours here, I'll just have Aberforth mind the bar," He said with a nod. While the old man seemed to be getting stranger by the day and preferred the company of his goats and just Harry to their patrons, he could still trust the wizard to barkeep for a night when necesasry.

"I know. I mean, I learned by example how NOT to treat children," He agreed with a shake of his head. "He might as well be mine, anyway. He's been calling me 'Dad' in private now for a few years, and has started doing so around others. I think he got tired of calling me 'God Father' and 'Uncle Harry'." He rolled his eyes, grinning.

"Don't worry about it, it took me a couple years even with McGonagall helping me a bit." Harry flashed a playful smile in Neville's direction, taking the man's empty glass and heading off to refill it. "Maybe you'll turn into a toad, at least you won't lose yourself!"

Neville could see Harry's mind working something around, but he didn't ask, not wanting to try and drag things from his mate.

"Sure. How is Aberforth anyway?" Neville really missed the older man. They had worked together when Harry was away in seventh year, keeping everything in order at the school covertly. In recent days Neville just realized how ashamed he was that he hadn't kept up with his friends very much at all and it made him heartsick.

Though Neville smiled when Harry considered Teddy as 'his' anyway, being called Dad in private. "It would be only right then - if he thinks of you as a 'Dad' then you should probably think of him as a son." Harry was rolling his eyes but grinning at the same time, which meant he couldn't really keep the secret of loving being called Dad a secret for very long.

"Ha! I wouldn't at that...besides, if I turned into a toad or a frog, would get Megan to kiss me and see if I turn into a prince, yeah?" Neville was joking of course but it was fun to think of - especially since the possibility of becoming an animagus was prickling at the back of his brain. Harry returned with a full glass of lager for him and he silently said that this was his last one.

"As crazy as ever and twice as senile," Harry joked lightly, grinning. "He keeps to himself most nights and lets me handle the customers, though he'll come in once in a while to help out when it's busy."

Harry nodded thoughtfully. Though he would never even want to replace Remus as Teddy's father, why shouldn't he consider himself the surogate? He'd been there for Ted's first steps, his first words, he'd changed more nappies than he'd care to remember; there'd been countless nights of rocking and singing the baby to sleep, invisible monsters to chase away out from under the bed and the closet(and a couple Boggarts).

"Yeah, we're close. He's a great lad, really. He'll do brilliantly at Hogwarts, he gets along great with other kids and he's really bright." He explained, still smiling as he took a few long swallows of cider. Teddy was obviously one of his favourite subjects to talk about, at least with a good friend. Harry certainly considered himself a proud godfather.

"Well, I dunno. If your girl is off kissing frogs or toads all day, what does that say about her?" He asked teasingly, raising an eyebrow. He shook his head, still grinning to himself as he wandered off to refill someone's ale.

Neville shook his head after a chuckle, hearing about Aberforth keeping to himself, and no doubt his goats. He and Neville had grown close that last year, sneaking in and out of the castle through the portrait, it was brilliant of Aberforth to permit that, and Neville never knew if he could possibly ever come up with a way to thank the man properly.

His thoughts turned to Teddy though, seeing the look in Harry's eyes as he talked about his god-son being very bright and how well he'd do at Hogwarts. "I can't wait to see him in class, no doubt you've taught him a few things on top of everything else, so it should be interesting to see how he gets on."

Neville was smiling, thinking of Megan, and then laughing at Harry when he took the shot at himself a totally different way. "I doubt she does that Harry...I just meant that there may be a prince underneath if I had turned into a frog. Bad joke, sorry." Neville waved a hand and had a few long pulls on his second pint of lager while Harry went to go and refill one of his patrons' drinks.

It was getting late and he should really get going. He was getting slightly anxious and wondering if there had been an owl while he was gone. Neville liked the anticipation of waiting to hear from Megan but, he worried about her too.... there was lots of things to do at the Orphanage and if she was shorthanded, he wished she would ask him to come by so he could help.

But he would have to wait and see. At the moment, he was enjoying a drink with his mate and easing himself into a light haze of well-being, supplied by the lager.

"As long as he's more studious than I was and doesn't have the same, er, what was it? Oh, 'disregard for the rules', I think he'll do just fine." Harry commented with a wry grin. He knew that even if Voldemort hadn't been around, he still would have gotten into all sorts of mischief at school; a gene he'd definitely gotten from his father. A habit he hoped he hadn't passed to Teddy.

"Yeah, I know exactly what you meant." Harry said, waving a hand absently when Neville explained the frog thing. "Just thought I'd put a spin on it. Nevermind." He grinned sheepishly, rolling his eyes. He thought of Marcus briefly, knowing that the man would have appreciated his strange brand of humor. He shook his head, pushing away the thought.

"I'm sure Teddy will get into some kind of mischief... who didn't really? In a place like Hogwarts it's hard not to." It was true, the whole castle was like a giant playground and while Neville really didn't do anything out of sorts until 5th year, he always secretly wanted to.

He was blushing and looking into his lager even while Harry explained about putting a spin on his backhanded comment about himself. "I know you did mate.... thanks." Neville raised his glass in a cheers and noticed that Harry seemed lost in thought and wondered what it could be. "So I'm guessing a lot of people like to unburden themselves to you? Being a bartender and all... who do you talk to?"

"Mmm, true. Though I think being friends with Hagrid warrants enough trouble on its own!" Harry answered with a grin; Hagrid and his love for unusual and often dangerous creatures. He wondered how Buckbeak was doing, or Witherwings rather. "I should visit him..." That would require going to Hogwarts, something Harry had avoided for years.

"Hmm? Oh, yeah. I don't mind though, I'd rather talk about other people's issues than my own." He admitted with a sheepish grin, once again moving down the bar to help a few customers before returning. "Oh, I dunno. I suppose a barkeep is a lot like a woman's salonist, yeah? People of all sorts talk to me. There's sort of an unwritten rule of confidentiality, or sommat. Strange really, but it works. The more people talk, the more they tend to drink. It's good business!"
