Neville... was so smitten. He’d been mooning about the castle ever since Valentine’s Day and often got somewhat down when he thought of how much he missed Megan. Things at the castle had been really busy and it was very trying to get away to see her. Neville had been very glad when Luna had stopped by the castle, even though he felt terribly guilty for not seeing her before then, a visit was nice.
Still, he couldn’t stop thinking of Megan - how they had spent their evening on February 14th, and how whenever he looked at the picture she’d painted for him, his face burned red hot remembering what had happened after, and the memory of her skin under his palms. He was still constantly being poked in the ribs by Susan whenever he was in his own little world and the only other inhabitant was Megan. Though Susan seemed to be distracted as well and Neville often wondered what was going on with her - he would have to visit her very soon and find out, even if it meant a grilling about how things were going with Megan.
So instead of acting like a goofy git for the rest of the day, Neville had an idea and it was far enough in advance to actually plan to be away from the castle if she said yes. ‘If’ ... he thought and rolled his eyes - Megan was making him more confident every time they saw each other, small admissions from the both of them were cementing how fast and how hard he was falling for her. It scared him somewhat, falling so completely. But the dizzy happy feeling made everything so wonderful that the fright dissipated quickly into want to have her by his side.
Megan,
I’m so very sorry I’ve been so scarce lately sweeting. Things here at the castle are keeping me from spending time with you and just know that it’s almost painful how much I miss being together. The only thing getting me through the days here is remembering your smile and the sound of your laugh.
That’s why, I was wondering if you were going to be free this Thursday night? I don’t have to be at the castle then and I don’t have class until Friday afternoon ... I’d like to take you out for dinner and dancing in Edinborough, spend some time together after two very long weeks of scarcely being able to meet for more than a couple hours at a time.
Send Helios back with your answer... I’ll be watching the skies until then.
Yours,
Neville
Neville sent his owl off with the small note tied to his leg and backed away from the window. He sighed when he turned around and saw the stack of parchment that still needed to be graded. Dismissing the stack, Neville sat down in his chair that faced the door, gazing at the cross-section painting that Megan had given him in December. Papers forgotten, he only sat, swivelling back and forth in his chair and looking at the painting, his elbow propped on the armrest and a finger to his bottom lip, remembering what it felt like when he kissed Megan. He smiled quietly then and tried to regain focus, but still anticipating the return of his owl.
