RP: Owl for Terence Higgs
Date and Time: 6 February 2008 Late morning
Characters: Daphne Greengrass, Terence Higgs
Private/Public: Private
Location: Skies
Rating: PG
Warnings: Some scheming on Daphne’s part…
Summary: Daphne owls Terence in hopes of obtaining representation.
Completion: Complete

Daphne left her shop closed one more day to get her affairs in order. She let the Hit Wizards in England – who were working in conjunction with French authorities – that she was available at any time at the Manor, in case they had news concerning Lynus’ disappearance.

But no matter how certain Daphne was that her bases were covered, that Anne would not betray her, obtaining a lawyer seemed the safest move. She dug through what few records she had concerning the Ministry’s seizure of her family estate, searching for the name that escaped her these many years later.

“Ah!” Daphne said triumphantly while crouched over an old trunk. “Higgs. Terence Higgs.”

She carried the legal form stripping her family of their lands and monies into her personal study, which Draco had given her for use as a studio. But the writing desk was perfectly cleared of dust and debris. Daphne took several minutes, pondering how to word the potentially important letter.

My dearest Mr Higgs,

You many have forgotten me over the last decade or so, but my name is Daphne Greengrass. You once represented my brother, Lynus, and I just after the war as we tried to retain our ancestral home. Unfortunately, the case was lost, but that is not the reason I am writing.

I may have need of your services. I have not forgotten that you once crusaded to protect the rights of people like me, children of Death Eaters. This is why your name was the first to cross my mind during this trying period.

I should like to meet with you as soon as possible; I am available at any time that is convenient for you.

With warm regards,
Daphne Greengrass

Terence was sipping a cup of tea when his secretary, Honora Brannigan, brought him an owl that had missed the morning post. He glanced over the note. "Bring me the Greengrass files, Mrs. Brannigan."

After he refreshed his memory on the case, Higgs wrote his reply.

Dear Ms. Greengrass,

I'm honored that despite the unfortunate outcome of your case, you have chosen to entrust this matter to me.

As luck would have it, I have an opening this afternoon at 3 p.m. My office is located on the sixth floor of the Debevoise & Plimpton Office in Diagon Alley.

Sincerely,
Terence Higgs

Daphne had not expected such a swift reply, but when Dmitry handed her the folded parchment, part of her sighed with relief. Going over the letter quickly, she told Dmitry to inform Draco that she would be out for a time in the afternoon and responded to Mr Higgs confirming the appointment.

Dearest Mr Higgs,

The case was not lost because of a lack of hard work on your side, so of course there is no animosity.

I shall meet you at your offices this afternoon at three o'clock. Thank you for so swift a reply.

With warm regards,
Daphne Greengrass
