He had arrived back at Malfoy Manor much later than he had anticipated, but the business done over the past couple of days would further the family's hold over certain areas of England. Draco was pleased, and a constant smirk played upon his lips even though his shoulders ached and there was a hex that he had taken to the arm which was still healing.

As soon as he went into his office, one of his assistants came in carrying the post that had arrived while he was gone. Draco flipped through it all, and stopped when he came across the note in Daphne's handwriting. He opened it up, his eyes scanning over the contents.

Bugger

Draco was alone again, and he had no one around to order why he hadn't received Daphne's note earlier. That would be remedied. In the meantime, he quickly scrawled a letter back to the witch to be sent out immediately.

Daphne,

I am most distressed to hear that your brother has gone missing. I do hope that all will be sorted out for your dear sister's sake.

My apologies for not responding sooner. It seems my personal secretary needs another lesson in what correspondence is urgent and what isn't. I shall recitfy that.

Send for me if you need me, though I do suggest my presence in France may not be the wisest course of action. I assume you have also let Marcus be aware of this recent event, for I know he will be most concerned.
