WHO Penny and Aislinn; Appearance by Cameron
WHAT Regression and its consequences
WHERE Penny's Gig and.. well..
WHEN backdated Thursday
PROGRESS In Progress
RATING PG-13 (intoxication and drug use)

Aislinn stared at her wine glass, really really concentrating on not leaning over to the side, which for some reason, she really wanted to do. Maybe it was the third glass of wine, possibly the assorted shots/drinks at Penny's or even the last joint (of a few) she and Penny had shared in the dressing room. Whichever it was, Ash and her balance were not seeing eye to eye at the moment.

Earlier that day, Ash had re-read the texts between her and Cam the night before, and thought about the date that was supposed to be happening Friday. It sucked. Even though whatever it was that was going on between the two of them wasn't exactly defined, or maybe it was and could be classified as acquaintances/friends/people connected to Riley Drake with benefits, it still really hurt to have him text her.. TEXT her and tell her that they should cool it. So high school! Yes, telling her Riley was upset over text, that was fine. But to not call afterward, and actually talk? Did she mean that little to him? Maybe, maybe not. They were going to go on a date. So maybe they were more then just title with benefits. Maybe. Were. There were a lot of maybes and past-tensing. Too much. It was all to hard to think about, that was for sure. And so she resorted to her adolescent way of dealing with things like this. Calling one Penny Layne, whom she was supposed to meet up for shopping anyways, and asking her to include a little herbal remedy in her makeup bag. Penny always had the best shit. Shopping was a haze, but it did result in the wicked "dress" she was currently sporting. Sure, most women could wear it as a shirt, but Ash was a midget. Or at least, that was what she had been telling the people at the boutique where she bought it. So the shirt was (barely appropriate) dress length on Aislinn, and in the current state of mind she was in, it was perfect. Their afternoon had been spent in Penny's apartment "getting ready" for her gig, though that was a blur as well. She had sobered up enough after the pizza had arrived, but she couldn't exactly remember how her hair got curled or why some of it felt a little burned. The taxi driver seemed really nice when Penny and Ash had poured into the back of his cab, giggling like school girls. And the door man at the club that escorted them to the dressing room was very friendly, but too short. Ash liked them closer to 6 foot or taller. Thinking of him, Ash looked over towards the front of the club and gave him a little wave. Maybe when she'd remember. Looking back to the stage, she noticed Penny had finished whatever song she'd been wowing the crowd with, and had to stand up.

"Whoo! Penny!" She cheered and whistled, clapping her hands as loud as she could, where the rest of the crowd were more polite. If looks could kill, the table of haughty business women would have incinerated Ash ten times over. But whatever. She was hotter then them. They were all pencil skirts and face-lifting buns. Alright, so what she was wearing herself could have easily been appropriate for her job, but that didn't mean she deserved the daggers. And so she sneered and turned her attention back to the stage, where the Louise to her Thelma was currently entertaining the crowd with some beautiful music and banter that Jim Morrison would have been jealous of.

What was supposed to be a relaxing evening spent with Bene had quickly gone to hell in a hand-basket. Maybe Cesa was getting in digs at work -- yeah, great, Bene was with Cesa eight hours a day now. She wondered how often the little Nazi bitch was able to squeeze in an anti-Semetic comment. Further, she wondered if Bene stood up for her or just sat quietly. It was unfair of her to assume that would be what was going on, but whether or not she had forgiven she had yet to forget. Maybe by the time she saw him on Saturday for her ride to the airport she would be in a better mood, but right now she was still upset.

Ash's being available to go shopping had been a G-dsend. No, it was better than that, because Ash seemed to be in as much of a funk as Penny was, and had the same remedy in mind. Dress shopping would likely be remembered as a near disaster. To say that the two women had acted like a couple of obnoxious 16-year-olds was likely giving them too much credit, but Penny had gotten a dress and had fun while doing it. She had spent a tremendous amount of time stroking her dress, explaining to the salesgirl how she didn't even know how soft it was, and explaining to the dress that it didn't know how pretty it was.

At least tonight was a guitar gig, far away from the Jazz Club. If Bene had showed up for a business dinner, she might have been embarrassed by her current state. But with a crowd of strangers and Ash, Penny just plain old didn't give a shit. Dressed in jeans, a wife beater, and an oversized flannel shirt in a pink and green plaid, Penny played and sang and explained nonsense to the crowd over the mic in between songs. The house band knew better than to try to talk to her right now. Penny was in one of her moods, in her dark place. The set had taken on a decidedly angry tone. But it still sounded good. She had pulled out old songs, one's she had written just after her arrival in Chicago five years earlier. Songs that had been placed on the shelf after she had adjusted to her new life. She had even finished the set with one.

"Oh, you're, you're so lame/your tired words are all/your tired words are all the same./Yeah, I would walk/I'd walk away/If I wasn't such a sucker for you."

It was followed by an overly confident pledge to be back, because she could hear that these motherfuckers loved her. Yeah, it was one of those nights. With that she stumbled off stage to find her partner in crime, hugging her and giggling as she found Ash. "I reallly want a cigarette," Penny only smoked when she was tanked, which she clearly was, "Can we go smoke a shmigarette?" or another doob. Penny could smoke another doob. But she also kind of wanted to go outside.

Ash had stumbled around her table when Penny had come off the stage and towards her. Hugs didn't work well when there was a four foot table between the huggers. Actually, they failed when that happened. Especially if the individuals involved were both just over 5 foot. Hence her moving. At the suggestion of a cigarette, Ash frowned and tried to remember if she smoked. She didn't, not cigarettes anymore. But she'd regressed almost a decade already, why not go a little further? So with a smile, she nodded and laced her arm with the other woman's before heading in the general direction of the door. "You are fucking adorable when you're on stage, you know that? Like.. buttons would be jealous. So fucking jealous. Not that you aren't always totally adorable, cause I wouldn't hang out with you if you weren't, but onstage? The adorableness definitely multiplies." Ash sighed, shaking her head. Even if she had the voice, she didn't think she could do what Penny does. Unless it was drunken karaoke. That, she could do. Maybe they should.

Walking past the doorman with a smile and wink, Ash pushed the door open, and curtsied. Why? Because she could. And bowing would have bared her ass, which wasn't so cool. She laughed softly at herself and headed to the closest pair of smokers huddling together in the cold. "Hey, can we bum a couple smokes off you?" Ash asked, rubbing her hands over her bare arms. She was bouncing on the balls of her feet to attempt to warm herself up. Why was it so cold? It was only November. Smiling her thanks as she took the cigarettes and a book of matches, she headed back to Penny, already lighting one. "Fuckin' christ, I wish I had a jacket." She grumbled, handing the lit cigarette to her friend before she lit her own.

Penny was in rare form. She could knock 'em back with the best of them but it was usually slightly less, well sloppy. Arms hooked, Penny leaned into the barely smaller woman, half in some form of affection, and half becaue she felt like she needed the support to manage walking right now. If they leaned into one another, they'd be more stable. That was a pretty clear way to stay ahead in the ongoing battle against gravity. It was a rule of Physics, something to do with the pressure involved, and if that hadn't been true before, Penny had decided it was now. It would henceforth be known as the Schwartz Principle. The lean decreased some at Ash's comment about buttons. A clumsy hand swung in the air in front of Penny's face for emphasis, "Some day,Ash, some day I will destroy all of the buttons." What? Why? Neither of those things mattered, Penny had decided that was what needed to happen.

Managing to make it outside without Earth turning sideways and dumping Penny flat on her ass was impressive. The bouncer winking at Ash threw a less friendly look in Penny's direction. The small brunette was supposed to be working. This wasn't exactly professional behavior. Professionalism, though, was for grown-ups. Penny was feeling much more like an abandoned 16-year-old than a grown up tonight. When that old wound was reopened, it took at least a few days to heal over.

"Thank you, new friends!". Penny waved to the folks who had provided the cigs as she took one from Ash, trying her best to copy the other woman's curtsy. Penny was not as graceful. The movement made her stumble towards the wall. Her imbalance left her surprised, and then it was hilarious. She looked to Ash before bursting into a giggle fit. Oh, this was definitely Penny circa 2018.

Composure barely regained, noticing Ash shiver made Penny aware of how cold she really was. "Why the fuck didn't we wear our coats?" The question was a genuine one. Why hadn't they? Where were their coats? This situation needed to be rectified and there were men not too far away with their backs to the two women.

Penny stumbled over to tap one on the shoulder. Perhaps if she could see straight, she might have recognized the uniform. That could have been useful information, maybe have even stopped what was about to happen. "Excuse me! Hi! I'm Penny," she pointed over her shoulder without turning, her head tilted back so she could look the man in the eyes meant she hadn't seen the silver badge on his chest, "and that's Ash. We seem to have misplaced our coats.". Being adorable enough to rival buttons paired with being full of beer, vodka, and ganja made Penny pretty certain that everyone absolutely loved her right now. She definitely loved all of them at the moment. With all the love, and two damsels so clearly in distress, the man would lend them in his coat to huddle under.

Instead, he simply stared at Penny as she wobbled on her sneakers and slurred her words. He seemed perplexed, "Would you like to file a report, ma'am?". The question struck Penny as nonsensical. Her nose crinkled as she tried to figure it out.

"A report about what? What does that even mean?" She looked over her shoulder, yelling (not that she had exactly been speaking at an appropriate volume prior to this) "Ash, what the fuck does that mean? You're the smart one!"

A couple more shots in her, and the use of her tiny self as a help for balance would have resulted in the pair sprawled all over the floor. The weight becoming a little less nearly did, as Penny declared war, or eminent destruction over buttons. What? Why are they destroying buttons? They were useful! Had to be a good reason, though. For their inhalation.

Ash joined in on the thankful wave at their new friends, though she had already done that and was currently smoking what they were thankful for. Who needed a proper memory when you had drugs and alcohol, right? Ash was about to say as much when Penny stumbled in the direction of the wall and all was forgotten in a fit of giggles. What was great again? Who the fuck cares?

Ash could only shake her head when Penny pointedly asked about outerwear. There was a jacket somewhere that she remembered. Did she leave it somewhere? Did she not bring it? What if someone stole it? Dammit, she liked that jacket and some stupid bitch out there is probably wearing it and laughing at her for losing it. That totally sucks! She should find that woman and totally kick her ass.. now where did she go?

Ash perked when she heard her name, clearly being introduced to some fellow smokers. She smiled and waved a little before looking back at the ground. Now, what had she been looking for? Oh right! Her jacket. It was inside in the dressing room. Ash rolled her eyes and waved her hands in an 'of course!' gesture. How could she have been so stupid? It was safe inside. Penny was yelling again. Ash frowned and made her way to her friends side, tilting her head to the side which only caused her to start veering off a little. "What the fuck are you on?" She asked the man, frowning a little before looking at Penny.

"I don't even now what he said, but this dude looks like he has a stick up his ass, so he's probably tripping on total shit right now." Ash looked the officer and his partner up and down, eyes narrowing slightly. "Look. If you're looking to sleep with my friend here.. it's gonna cost ya. I'm kidding.. you wouldn't even be able to afford us. I mean, look at you.." She laughed softly, sliding her arms around Penny's waist. "So how about you file us that report.. on.. something. Go. Run along, little doggies." Ash waved a hand at the pair of them in a very dismissive matter. They were wasting their time.

If when you started drinking you had already regressed back to being an angsty 16-year-old, by the time you had reached the heights Penny had you were likely somewhere near the maturity of a 12-year-old. At age 12, beer muscles were terribly amusing. Penny reached clumsily to steady Ash as her steps veered in the direction of her head's cant, giggles accompanying the move. "Shmammer pants!". The words were sung in Ash's direction before Penny turned back to the men in question, having momentarily forgotten the conversation at hand. It was all nonsense by now, the mere act of standing still almost too much, Penny occasionally stepping out to accomodate the fact that the earth seemed to be moving under her feet.

"Tripping? I wish they were sharers but they're not sharers, they're meanies! Blllluuuueeeeeeee meanies!". And then she'd turn back to face the officers, as though the soliloquoy hadn't been heard by them, looking up expectantly, still waiting for them to offer a jacket. Penny almost looked sober, barely conquering the wobble for a moment before it was lost to more giggles. Under most circumstances, the suggestion that Penny was a prostitute would have her fuming, but somehow it had translated into a compliment. Nearly falling as Ash wrapped her arms around Penny's waist, Penny turned to her fellow debaucherer, "Awwwwwww, you're the best. If I started ho'ing you'd totally be my pimp."

A hand extended to wrap around Ash's shoulders in an attempt to get back her balance, though it was likely misguided. By this point what the officers might have been willing to excuse was getting to be a bit much. It was apparent that the two women had been at one too many about 3 drinks ago. Undaunted by the disapproving looks of the two men, Penny had to take it a step too far. "Yes! I would like a 500-word report on sharing on my desk, STAT!" Giggles erupted again as Penny twisted to wrap a second arm around Ash in a hug before she felt a tug on her shoulder.

"Ma'am, I'm gunna need you to turn around, and walk a straight line from here to my partner down there with your arms at your sides. Toe to heel.". Uh oh. That request sounded vaguely familiar. Penny turned to look at the man, the badge finally registering. Shit. This wasn't good. But she could still pull it out. A big breath as she tried to follow the command, teetering as she walked slowly, her difficulty maintaining her balance making it look like she was trying to accomplish the feat on a tightrope rather than a level sidewalk.

"And you, the same." He was instructing Ash now. Would the blond fair any better than Penny? If not on the walk portion, perhaps she had a better grasp of the alphabet, which Penny was now doing her best to recite backwards.

Aislinn giggled at the thought of her being Penny's pimp. Why did she automatically put herself in a purple crushed velvet suit with a matching hat and obnoxiously large feather? And was that a cane in her mental image? Why yes it is. "Baby, I would treat you so right.. Only beat you, like.. once a month as long as you keep on top of your payments." She leaned in and pressed a kiss to her friends cheek before turning her attention back to the men in front of them

What kind of sick fuck was this guy.. walking lines and.. Oh. Shit. Ash had a flash of sobering when it felt like she was drenched in cold water. Of course, she was asking for trouble the moment she contacted Penny about adding a little more fun to their day, but this was just not cool. "Penny.. come on. This is fucked. We didn't do anything." She waved at the brunette, trying to get her friend back to her side. "These douche bags probably just haven't reached their quota of being dicks tonight.." Oh fucked up Aislinn.. how you forget to hold those types of thoughts in your head.

When she heard the officer ask Penny to recite the alphabet backwards, she gave the men a blank look. "Do you have a paper and pen?" She asked bluntly a moment later, holding out her hand. "What is with you guys and your stupid fucking tests.. can you recite the alphabet backwards?" She'd clearly need to write it all down first and then go from there. "I won't do it.. I know my rights. I don't have to." Ash crossed her arms and for a moment, resembled a child on the verge of a temper tantrum.

"Hey! Hands off, buddy." Ash half yelled, smacking and shoving at the hand that was attempting to guide her to where they wanted her to walk. "I.. I don't do that well even.. soberer then I am." Ash stated, shaking her head slightly. "Have you seen these heels? 5 inches.. I'd like to see you walk a straight line in five inch stilettos." She stated, poking the officer in the shoulder.

If a field sobreity test for SWI (smoking while intoxicated) wasn't enough to make a person fully cognizant of how drunk they were, it was likely nothing would be. Or maybe Penny just didn't have the appropriate reverence for police officers. After all, the woman had been arrested several times over the years, though never formally charged with anything. The past couple of years she had had a pretty good run, too. No arrests since her twenty-first birthday. Though that scene had been equally comical. The comedy of these moments was never lost on Penny. These two big tough officers getting all handsy, they were going to fill out all of that paperwork and then it was all going to disappear. It always did. Not that there was going to be any shouting about that. do you have any idea who the fuck I am? was not a question cops took well. Penny had the mugshot with the black eye to prove it. So as drunk as she was, Penny was trying her best not to damage the boys' delicate egos.

Not that she was doing a very good job of things at the moment. It was all hilarious, and Penny couldn't help but explode into giggles when she reached the letter 'p' in her incredibly slow version of the backwards alphabet. Okay, maybe she had regressed all the way to age 5. The failure spurred the next part of the test, the breathalyzer, but Penny was becoming increasingly difficult to keep focused as Ash's inner-belligerence came out. "Hey! Don't touch her! She said not to touch her!". Those were the magic words. The bouncer's head poked around the corner to see what was going on. Had Penny noticed, she might have tried to get his attention. Gianni was one of her uncle's men. The type who would call him to let him know that Penny was being arrested in front of Moody's. The exact opposite of what she needed him to do at the moment, since Al would let her sit in a cell all night and call Mr. F. What a great homecoming that would be.

With all portions of the test failed rather miserably, and the two woman making a pretty good scene, the officers had clearly had it. Penny was slammed into the side of the police car parked on the curb, her lack of balance made the hit even harder, falling into it as she was swung.

"You got anything on you I should know about?" The officer stated as he started his frisk. Penny sighed contently, no matter how drunk she was, she was well-versed on her rights. This arrest wouldn't stick either, not calling in a female officer for the search, these guys were just plain stupid. Now she just had to stay quiet, her gun and her stash tucked away safely in her purse inside. And try not to puke. Hitting her torso so hard against the car had set her stomach turning. Where was Ash though? Penny tried to turn her head to look for her companion, only to be slammed into the car again. "Dude! Chill the fuck out!". That one had hurt, her face hitting the window. If she could feel the throb through her drunkeness it was going to leave a mark. How was she going to explain that to her family? How was she going to explain that to Bene?

Penny heard the officer reciting her Miranda rights, but it was background noise to her her pulse as she felt the slap of cold steel against her wrists. She had known it was coming, but it never changed the discomfort of a person having her in such a vunerable position. Better yet, without her arms for balance, managing walking was even more difficult. Penny fell as he turned her to walk to the rear of the car, the officer barely holding her up. But at least now she could see Ash, at least long enough to shoot her a look Penny hoped read keep your mouth shut

One minute, Ash was ignoring the request from the officer to walk in a damn line, and the next she knew, she was on the ground with the weight of a full grown man keeping her there. Struggle, thy name is Aislinn. It was natural instincts to try and get up and not be restrained, but even if she had been completely sober, Ash had no chance in hell of getting this guy off her. Honestly, she was doing more damage to herself then helping. She clenched her jaw, biting down on her tongue to keep from saying anything more stupid then what she'd already said. With her hands being restrained at the middle of her back by only one of his, she was frisked which only made her urge to struggle that much worse. "I don't thin anyone could hide shit in this dress, genius.." she grumbled, only to have the grip on her wrists tighten a little which drew a little sound of protest from her. Alright, shutting up for real this time.

Ash heard Penny yell at her officer to chill out. What did these guys think? They were both tiny in comparison to the officers, what kind of damage could they really do? She rolled her eyes as she was read her rights, turning her head to watch as Penny had the same done to her. Handcuffs were clamped around her wrists and she grimaced at how tight they were put on. Maybe she had actually hurt him.. The thought brought a smirk to her face that disappeared a moment later as she was lifted from the ground by her bound wrists. She hissed in pain as her shoulder protested the movement and a scrape on her knee stung to life. Awesome. As if work wasn't made enough at her, but now she had a rather visible injury. That was always great for business.

Ash looked up at Penny in time to catch her warning look, which only had her own narrowing. What the hell did she think, that Ash would just suddenly blab everything? She was smarter then that, under the influence or not. Besides, every time she opened her mouth, it seemed it was an insult that wanted to come out before anything useful to anyone. She managed to not fall on the way to the back of the squad car, which was a feat while walking in five inch heels with some jackass dragging her along. "Watch your head." He barked, pushing her head down as he dropped her into the back seat, where she scooted over and tried to get comfortable with her slightly throbbing shoulder and arms locked behind her back.

Ash waited until Penny was seated in the back before saying anything, angling her body so she was looking at her, rather then the back of the officers heads. "I'm sorry.. I feel like this is totally my fault.." She said softly, glancing at the men as they settled into the car. "I should have just drowned myself in Ben & Jerry's.." She snorted softly, before sighing and shifting again. If it wasn't going to bruise, this shoulder was at least going to be sore for a while.

Inside the confines of the police car, Penny could already feel her left cheek swelling. There was a hefty sigh as she shimmied in her seat, trying to find a position to reduce the pressure on her arms that didn't give her the spins. She hadn't planned on being in a moving vehicle for another few hours. Who was she kidding? She had assumed she'd end up walking home. Now she was both in a car and headed someplace that was definitely not home. Why had she not realized these guys were cops?

When Ash spoke she threw her weight off the seat so she could turn to face her friend, falling back into her shoulder roughly with a groan. Penny shook her head in protest. "Naw. It's not your fault these JACK ASSES ruined our night. If it's anyone's fault it's mine. I probably shoulda noticed they were cops.". Penny laughed before noticing Ash's knee. It was the first she saw of the cut on Ash's knee.Apparently they would both would have battle scars. "They do that?"

Because if they had done it, they had some balls on them. This wasn't Jersey, but Mr. F would not be pleased to hear that Chicago's finest took such liberties with such small women. If Gianni hadn't already told Al, if wheels weren't already in motion, they would be soon. Penny looked at Ash then, turning her head to show her the left side of her face. The officer had managed to miss blacking out Penny's eye, for that much she could be glad. No amount of make-up could cover an eye swollen shut, or the injury to the eye itself, and this wasn't the week for a shiner. Her cheek bone, though, was already headed towards purple. If nothing else, it would make for an interesting trip through central booking. "How bad is it?"

After getting her answer, Penny would relax back into her seat, screaming bloody murder wasn't the way to undo a bruised face. It was a short trip to the station, and it was probably best if she displayed a zen-like calm while there. She didn't need another injury, nor did going all crazy in the police station help to show that the officers had been over-zealous. "So, um, unless they cut us loose at the station, I'm spending the night. Ain't a chance in hell Imma be calling Al."

Penny had barely managed to get out the sentence when she felt herself being tugged from the car. She moved onto her tip toes to yell to Ash on the other side of the car. "If they let you loose and not me, just go home. Don't worry about the bail.". Not that she expected to instruction to go very far with Ash, but she had to try, right? The yelling did, however, get her a decent jab in the side. Nothing too hard, more a reminder of where she was. Penny grunted before turning her body in the direction it was being steered. She had navigated central booking before, the place didn't bother her too much. It was even better when she recognized a few faces from Al's annual New Year's party- men on the payroll. Relief washed over Penny. The two goons wouldn't be getting another shot. "Picked up these two girls causin' trouble outside of Moody's. Brunette's drunk & disorderly and resisting arrest. Blond's the same, add assaulting an officer.". The cop who had Penny barked.

Ash couldn't stop the snicker when Penny emphasized jackasses. It got them both a dirty glare from the guy in the passenger seat, but Ash simply looked back at him coolly. There was no reason to be nice to them now, since she hadn't been from the get go. And they were jackasses. When Penny asked about her knee, she looked down at it for the first time. She knew it was there, but never really looked to see how bad it was. It was.. going to be there for a while, but it wasn't like she was going to lose a limb. "Yeah.. apparently my outfit calls for being thrown to the ground with a million pound gorilla on my back. Cement does wonders for my skin under those conditions." She grumbled. How was she going to explain this to Cam? She frowned at the thought but was distracted by Penny turning her head and showing her own injury. She gasped softly, "Oh honey.. It's already bruising.."

If looks could kill, the glare she was sending up to the men in front of them would have had their heads exploding. It was good then, that looks couldn't kill. Brains and blood probably didn't come out of clothes too easily. Other then that, though, she would have loved to have seen it actually happen. As they pulled up to the station and with the little moment of privacy they had, she agreed with Penny's decision not to call Al. He would be none too happy about this. But Ash would find a way to get them home. And again, a certain Irishman popped into her head. Maybe, just this once, she would risk upsetting Riley. It was practically life or death. "I'll handle that.." She said over the top of the police car after she was hauled out of it. The officer holding onto her arm gave her a questioning look and Ash simply raised an eyebrow. She hadn't co-operated so far, did they really expect her to start now?

Ash snorted with laughter when Penny told her to just go home. Her officer did too, which was weird. "Yeah right, Louise.. we're together in this til the end.. Which is coming near.." As they walked up the stairs to the precinct, Ash was suddenly hit with the realization of what was happening. She had just been arrested. Arrested! She has never been arrested. She wasn't the type of girl that this happened to. Ever. Well, maybe not ever. Her time in New York had been pretty wild, but they never got caught. Ash almost shied away from the other people in central booking. Almost. The last thing she wanted to do was either offend those she might be spending some quality time with or make the officer guiding her around that she was someone he could bully.

When the cop said what they were arrested for, Ash actually laughed. "Assaulting an officer? Really?" She was shoved lightly, though the grip on her arm made it look more like she was trying to pull away. Ash shut up then. This was their territory. She figured no good would be coming of this. "Alright.. so I'm new to this.. when do I get my phone call? I'd really like it now, so that by the time you're through doing whatever it is that you do, our ride will be here.." Ash looked at the officer, eyebrow raised. "Sit down, and shut up." He barked, making Ash flinch then scowl. Asshole

"I can still see out my eye, so I'm assuming it's not blacked out." She sighed, as she sank into the seats of the cruiser. That was fucking great. This wouldn't be something Penny could just sweep under the rug. She needed an explanation for her face, at least for Bene. Mr. F. had a way of smoking out the truth that Penny couldn't avoid, she had learned quickly there was no hiding anything from him. But based on Bene's slow action with his sister, he was less willing to use his connections for personal matters.

The walk into the station house brought with it relief. After being placed not too gently on the bench beside Ash, Penny was strangely all business for how drunk she was. Closing one eye so she could stop seeing doubles long enough to gauge the mood in the room. A detective who looked vaguely familiar seemed to be arching an eyebrow at the two officers, and a beat cop was trying his best to look nonchalant. There were eyes here, and either someone would have words with the officers now, or someone would have more than words with them later. In any case, Penny knew she was safe now.

Ash, however, seemed to be losing some of her earlier bravado. Placed roughly on the bench beside her friend, Penny would turn and whisper, "Prints, mugshots, then phone calls." It was only a few minutes before the booking officer was ready. Penny was tugged up first, taken through a process that should have been less familiar. There was something comforting in repetition. Five fingers rolled over a pad of ink and the familiar card twice. Left, right, center holding up the black felt board with the little letters fixed on front, 3 flashes. It was too comfortable, too familiar for such a young woman. But it never went anywhere, and so Penny could take comfort in the ritual.

Then, after turning down her phone call, to the holding cell. Safely behind bars away from the officers. She was still too drunk to interview, not that the cops would think that was necessary. Right now they were in the back filing their reports, showing off the results from the breathalyzer. Penny sat on a bench rubbing her wrists as she thought about it. They would bruise, too. They always did. At least it was winter, long sleeves to cover them. For now, sleep sounded good. Penny took off the over-sized flannel, balling it into a pillow and then curling up on her side.

Penny explaining the process quickly helped calm her a little but it wasn't enough. As she was led away, the weight on Ash's shoulder seemed to worsen. Now she was alone in a room full of police and criminals, handcuffed and totally defenseless. How did this happen? This was not who she was anymore and it was all over what? A great guy, who was proving himself to be even greater by putting his family before everything else. Ash sighed and closed her eyes, letting her head fall back against the wall as she tried to make the seat on the bench comfortable. It didn't work so well. But it helped to pass the time, it seemed. Had she fallen asleep? Because the next thing she knew, she was being lifted off the bench and lead further into the station.

Watching movies and cop shows made this process look more glamorous. It was actually rather disappointing. There was no dramatic music, shockingly bright flashes or cool lighting. Nope, none of that. First, Ash regressed back to kindergarten and her finger painting ways as she put her fingerprints on file. Seriously? That's what they looked like? She examined her inky fingertips and frowned. They didn't look that big. And then she was asked to remove her heels for the pictures. As if she didn't already feel small, now they wanted her to look ridiculous and take pictures which she was sure would be oh so flattering.

Finally, it was her turn for a phone call. "Yes. Yes, I want to make a call, please." There was only one person she could think to call. No it wasn't Riley. To hear any form of disappointment in her voice would kill Ash, plus it would just be another mark against her on a list that was probably going to be rather long. Rory? That kid may be skilled doing an vast amount of things underage, but this was one thing he couldn't help with. It had to be Cam. He was her only option, and her first if she was going to be honest. Led to a bank of phones against the far wall, she was handed the receiver and then faced her next challenge. What was his number again?

Ash had to concentrate, praying to whatever God was listening, that her drunken memory wouldn't fail her now. Why didn't she have her cellphone in her bra like most girls that go pubbing? Noo, she had to leave it in her purse which was currently in the backroom of Moody's. Taking a deep breath, she dialed what she hoped was the right number, looking around once she was done, as if there would be a sign that she had gotten it right. Instead, she found the officer that was escorting her who stared back. "What? Are you going to watch me the entire time? Creep." She sighed the last word, side stepping so she could partially hide behind the phone.

"Come on, Cam.. please pick up.." She begged the rings, twisting her fingers in the phone cord.

Movie watching had been movie watching and Cameron always enjoyed the time with his sister no matter what they did. Never mind that he had 10 beers consumed by 10 p.m. and ended up passing out, due mostly to being exhausted rather than drunk. Although he had been fairly buzzing but not the kind of buzz that wouldn't have disappeared with a couple of hours of sleep. The apartment was dark and he was on the sofa, one leg hanging off at an uncomfortable angle that he couldn't feel while he was snoring. He'd notice it when he woke up. Which happened to be several hours sooner than he'd planned.

He was glad he still had his phone on vibrate so it didn't wake Riley. Who would be calling him at around midnight on a Thursday? The possibilities were really kind of endless. If could be work (you never knew with the mafia, is was not a 9 to 5). It could be a past hookup who was now drunk and looking for a repeat. It could be one of his friends who found themselves drunk and in the gutter somewhere and wanted a ride. But when Cameron checked the caller ID, the number didn't register. He answered it anyway, mostly out of curiosity and a little bit out of annoyance for whoever had woken him up. They were about to get a piece of his mind. A nasty piece.

"What?" he hissed into the phone, not willing to raise his voice and risk waking Riles. Whoever it was better have a good fucking excuse for interrupting his nicely buzzed sleep. The buzz was long gone and all he was left with was a heavy lethargy that made him cranky.

Ash was carefully studying the writing on the wall when the phone stopped ringing and a hissed answer came over the speaker. Shit, she probably woke him up. Never poke a sleeping bear, and she'd just jabbed him with a pointy stick. But before she let her natural reaction of apologizing and hanging up with a dash of hoping he'd forget she did that kick in, Ash remembered where she was and that angry Cam wasn't as scary as jail. So she tightened her fingers around the cord and let it go.

"Cam?" A flood of relief washed over her body. "Cam. It's me, Ash. I'm in a little trouble." The moment that little sentence came out, it was like a tidal wave. She didn't even let him have a chance to respond. "I don't know how it happened, but I got arrested. I was at Moody's with Penny and we went outside for a smoke and somehow wound up in the back of a squad car.. okay, maybe it wasn't so much a somehow, but they were being jackasses, but I didn't assault either of them even though that's apparently what they were saying I did.. I just really don't like it in here and I didn't know who else to call, you were the only one I could think about. I was hoping you could bail us out? I have money in my apartment, feel free to bust the door down, it's in my underwear drawer and the back of the freezer. Cliche, I know.." Ash took a moment to calm herself again, her voice having slightly risen and started to shake. "Please, Cam.. I'm sorry to do this to you, but I need you."

It was Ash. And she sounded... She was talking a mile a minute and the fuck if he was even really fully awake. Cameron shoved the blanket aside and sat up, already blindly groping for his boots. There was something about jackasses and assault and jail. Of course the first thing that went through his mind was; if some jackass touched her, he would kill that jackass. But the second thing that went through his mind was that, Ash was scared and he needed to go get her. The second thing was more important than the first, at the moment. The first, it would keep.

He pulled his boots on, his hand brushing across the coffee table to feel for his keys. "Ash, I know jail sucks, baby, but try to calm down. Okay? I'm on my way. I'll get you out." She wouldn't have very long for her phone call but he'd keep talking to her as long as they'd let her stay on the line.

With keys in hand, he let himself quietly out of Riley's place, his phone still tucked against his ear as he pulled his jacket on over the guns he'd fallen asleep with still strapped to his back. Funny how he could sleep comfortably like that. He'd have to take them off before he walked into the station of course.

"Aside from being in jail, are you okay? Did anyone hurt you?"

Ash nodded her head, even though Cam couldn't see her, before leaning it against her arm. "Thank you.." She whispered, taking a couple of deep breaths to calm herself down. Hysterics would do her no good, and Cam was already on his way. She was okay. When he asked if she was hurt, she shifted her shoulder, which throbbed, before looking down at her knee. "Nothing major.. I think I might live." She joked, half for herself and half for him. It meant she was fine, even if she was a little freaked. "No knight in shining armor antics tonight.. I don't think they'd let us share a cell."

A tap to her bad shoulder had her taking a sharp breath in and she turned to glare at the officer who was motioning for her to end the call. "I have to go, but I'll be seeing you soon. Thanks-" A hand pulled the receiver away from her ear while another hung up the call, and Ash narrowed her eyes. "Okay, I get it. You wanted me off the freaking phone.." Why did she have to be so lippy sometimes? The officer wrapped a hand round her elbow and led her to the holding cell, taking her handcuffs off before closing the door. Ash continued to glare, rubbing her wrists, then gave up on trying to intimidate the man. She'd never be really good at that, she was too short. Taking a seat on the bench, she wrapped her arms around herself to attempt to warm up.

Nothing major? Oh yeah, someone was definitely gonna die. But she was right, it wouldn't be happening tonight. Tonight, she was his main concern and he needed to get her out of there. Jail was just no place for a girl like Ash. He hated to think about her tiny little self in one of those cells and he just fucking prayed that she was alone. Better alone, than with some crazy junkie who was tweaking because they needed a fix. Tweakers were unpredictable and possibly dangerous. But jesus, his mind was wandering and not in good places.

She had to go, time up. "Okay, I'll be there in..." The phone was hung up before either one of them could finish their sentences. Fuckers. He tucked his phone away and headed back to his apartment for his emergency stash of cash and then it was down to the precinct to retrieve his...to retrieve Ash. And, begrudgingly, Penny. Cameron figured Ash would probably refuse to leave if Penny was still stuck behind bars. So, he bailed her ass out too but he hated every second of counting that cash out. Penny was fucking paying him back. Or...well...she did have to buy a new door because of him. Okay, maybe they were even.

The clank of the metal door to the holding cell had startled Penny. It was a testimony to how drunk she was that she had been able to pass out so quickly on the hard bench. She shot up into a seated position, her momentum almost carrying her all the way over to her other side, which roused a giggle. There was an officer standing at the cell door. "Schwartz, you're out."

Penny blinked, her mouth falling open for her jaw to bounce as she searched for words. The real question was who? Not that she had the where with all to actually get it out. Had Gianni spoken to someone? And if so, who was it bailing her out? Al? That was totally out of character for him. And where was Ash? She stumbled out, grabbing her flannel as she went, down the hall, and outside onto the precinct steps. There, all questions were answered. Ash and one Cameron Drake.

Her eyes narrowed as she swayed at the top of the stairs. Fuck. She turned to one of the officers standing nearby, muttering a question about where the nearest ATM was. She wasn't the type to let a favor hang over her head. Especially not a favor from an Irishman. With the question answered, she made her path to the pair, which was more of a zigzag than a straight line.

Penny couldn't even look Drake in the eye for fear of what she might say in her current state. Instead a heavy "Thanks," fell from her lips. Quickly followed by, "there's an ATM two blocks up, how much do I owe you?" The going rate was usually someplace around $500. With the two of them that meant $1,000. That was a lot of dough. And most of Penny's cash wasn't in the bank. You couldn't just go around depositing wads of cash. That had to go to Rafe, to go to Bene, to come back around through nightclub gigs. What was her account balance right now anyway?

Penny was silent except for the occasional hiccup as she made her way down the block towards the ATM, a hiccup breaking her stride every now and then.

Ash refused the urge to close her eyes, blinking rapidly a few times to keep herself from somehow drifting off.  From the time she sat down to the cell door opening, she had managed to go through the alphabet backwards in her head, twice.  It really was harder then she thought.  At least it was when your mind wandered so easily to the grumbling in her stomach and all the food she had in her house. "Maher, you're out."  Oh thank god!  Wait... Had she told Cam about Penny needing to be bailed out too?  Shit, she'd totally forgotten!  But she mentioned her, right?  So he'd bail her out, too.  He wouldn't let just rot in here.

Ash still had her arms wrapped around herself as she was led away from the holding cell.  Not wanting to wind up back in there, she kept her mouth shut about the helpful improvements they could make, like bigger space heaters or some blankets and maybe more comfortable seating.  Not that it would really effect her in anyway.  She was planning on never coming back here again.  She noticed her arresting officer as she walked past central booking and waved.  Okay, so she wouldn't say anything that could get her into any trouble, but wave was friendly, right?  Even if it had an air of snark to it.

The cold air that hit her as she stepped outside made her shiver harder, her arms tightening a fraction more.  Her eyes immediatly fell on Cam and she could have cried in relief.  But she didn't.  Instead, she practically ran to him (baby steps with these heels) and wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing into his warmth and the security that always washed over her when she was with him.  She didn't want to look up at him just yet, in case he was mad or upset in anyway, so she lay her cheek to his chest and closed her eyes.  "Thank you, thank you, thank you."

Before anymore could come out, the door opened again and she saw Penny standing there.  Her arms tightened a little around Cam in a silent thanks that she would definitely repeat verbally once they were getting away from this damn place.  Before she could say something to her cohort, she said something about an ATM and was stumbling off in a different direction.

It was a relief to see Ash in one piece, a relief when he had her in his arms. Hers wrapped around his waist, her cheek pressing against his chest and he held her tight there, one hand smoothing down her hair. He pressed his lips to the top of her head, he probably shouldn't have but he couldn't help it. Cameron wanted very much just to take her home with him and crawl into bed with her, wrap her in the safety of his embrace. But he knew that wouldn't happen. Instead he'd take her to her apartment, make sure she was okay and settled, and then he'd leave. He'd leave because if he stayed...

He lifted his gaze when he heard Penny's voice. She was asking how much she owed him and going on about some ATM, stumbling just a little. Cam smirked, snickered even, as he watched her weave off down the sidewalk. He didn't want her money, they were even now as far as he was concerned. Besides, he just wanted to get Ash home, not wait around for Miss Drunky Drug Dealer to get cash from the ATM. Penny was probably the reason Ash had found herself in jail and he didn't really appreciate that but he wasn't going to get into it on the sidewalk in front of the police station.

"Let's get you home," he said to Ash, keeping one arm around her shoulders as he tried to steer her towards his waiting car. It was cold out, late, and she was probably still slightly intoxicated. He wanted her to tell him exactly what happened on the drive to her place so he'd know who's ass he had to stomp for this. She told him she was basically okay but that meant kind of not and that wasn't okay with him.

The intent hadn't been to blow past Ash without a word, but right now, despite her drunkeness, Penny knew it was best not to let her guard down. Explaining this, should anyone find out about it, would be interesting to say the least. Oh, yeah, Cameron Drake bailed me out. And I totally still owe him a favor. Favors were currency. Even the appearance of having one waiting to be called in by an Irishman wasn't in Penny's best interest. Whether or not people knew her as Laynie Favale, her appearance wasn't that of a full-blooded Italian. Nevermind that the world repeatedly showed that Laynie's chosen loyalties were much stronger than those that should have been understood by virtue of blood. Owing an Irishman a favor was not something Laynie could stand.

Cam's failure to respond to her question, however, had her stopping halfway down the block, spinning on her sneakers in a way that was dangerous given her current state. She lost balance, stumbling into a retaining wall and catching herself. At least she wasn't directly in front of the police station, but a beat cop pulling in did raise a brow. More sober than she had been when they arrested her an hour ago, she realized she should probably at least try to act like a normal human being. She took careful steps back towards her companion and the Irish Animal, who seemed to be heading for a car. "Yooooo!" She cringed as the sound rang out around the station, realizing just how loud she had been. Penny looked around to see who was staring. The one beat cop, but she looked remorseful enough for the noise. She kept going in her stumble, managing to reach the car as they did.

"Look," Penny was alternately shutting each eye so she could focus on Cam's face as she spoke. She clearly had something very serious to say, her tone stern, or as stern as it could be when every word was garbled by the fact that at the moment her tongue felt too big for her mouth, "Number 1, no taking advantage of Ash, because thas my Ash and you," she lifted a hand to point a finger right at his nose. Ahhh, beer muscles. Actually, these were more like whiskey muscles, her drink of choice on her Jim Morrison-esque nights,"you need to be extra nice to her. Because... because I said so." Oh yeah, this was whiskey. This was the belligerence of coming down from whiskey that only whiskey could bring. "And B," the transition seemed to be punctuation for the first portion of her list of demands, her voice calming some, her hand falling away, "I can't go get moneys if I don't know how many moneys I needs. So tell me the number of moneys." She stumbled again then, though she had managed to stand mostly still, catching herself against his car.

Ash was enjoying being tucked against Cam's side, and would have liked to stay that way for the rest of the night but not enough to let him think that she would just leave Penny behind to wander off without a way home. She pulled away the moment they got to the car, looking after her friend, though she stayed close. Apparently, Penny wasn't too happy about Cam's decision to leave either. Though her reasons were probably more about the fact that he ignored her question. She giggled softly when Penny fell into the retaining wall, but stopped before an embarrassing snort could follow like it usually did when she was drinking. Not to self, never drink around Cam.

Ash slid her hand to the small of Cam's back as Penny came back, smirking as she seemed to want to put him in his place. She snickered at the mention of Cam taking advantage of her, thinking that it wouldn't be that hard. And it couldn't really be considered 'taking advantage' when she'd go willingly, sober or drunk/high. Oh, while this was so very amusing right now, especially with how close Penny was coming to poking the man in the nose, it could get ugly. It was cute that she was looking out for Ash, even when she was with her Cam. "Honey.. Your purse is at Moody's.. you can't get your money anyways. Or a ride home.." She looked up at Cam now, batting her eyelashes at him as she turned her body into his again. "Can we give her a ride home? Please? I mean.. you already know where she lives.."

Cameron was this close to grabbing Penny's finger and... Damn it, he would never do that to a female, not even this annoying one. Maybe he could just bite it? No, no. That was no good either. What the hell was she doing with her eyes? Jesus, these girls were wasted. He hated to think about how Ash could have been taken advantage of in her state of intoxication. And contrary to what Penny thought of him, he would not be taking advantage of Ash. He would never hurt her. He'd sooner cut off his own arm that cause Ash harm. In any way. Aside from hurting her by refusing her, that is. It wasn't because he didn't want her. Goddamn, he wanted her. He just couldn't have her.

Because he could not cause Penny bodily harm either, he resisted the urge to smack her hand away from his face. The only time he'd willingly and purposely cause physical damage to a female was if she were threatening his life in some way. That day in her apartment, he would have put a bullet in her head or chest if he'd had to, in order to make it out of there in relatively one piece. But it didn't come to that and he was fucking grateful as hell now that he knew Ash and Penny were friends. "I don't want your money. Consider this payment for the door."

He was already turning back to the car, reaching for the passenger door handle, when Ash looked up at him and asked him to give Penny a ride home. Was she serious? Baby, no. "No," he said simply, his arm securely around her waist as he reached around her and opened the door. "Just get in the car, Ash."

Sober Penny would have likely seized on the idea of Cameron Drake giving her a ride home. That was a bad idea. After the man showed up unannounced a second time, the boys who guarded her building had been provided a picture and his name. That was all they needed to find a host of other information, and what car was registered to an Irishman bold enough to kick down Laynie Favale’s door was likely high on the list of what they would be looking for. Instead, she seized on the fact that Ash didn’t seem to believe in Penny’s omnipotence. Apparently, whiskey muscles applied even to inanimate objects. Penny pushed off the car and stumbled a step closer to point towards Ash’s nose. This pointing was less belligerent, but it was still pointing. “The ATM” hiccup “will understand. If it doesn’t, I’ll make it understand. I will threaten to destroy” hiccup “all its buttons and then it will give me my money. And if it doesn’t” hiccup “then, then,” hiccup “then I will destroy the buttons!” Her finger moved skyward then, as though to call the wrath of the very gods forward to help her in her quest, the movement made more ridiculous as her shoulders rose and fell with another hiccup.

Oh, great. She was back on destroying all buttons. What was with the button vendetta? It was likely for the best that Penny’s malevolence was distracted by the buttons at the moment. Otherwise a very drunk Penny might have gotten into a very clear explanation about how Cam couldn’t drive her home because he might got shot full of holes. But unfortunately, her distraction couldn’t last forever. She was relieved by Cam’s firm refusal. Penny wouldn’t have to be the bad guy tonight. But it was still kind of dick to force a tiny wasted chick to walk home by herself while wasted. Especially when her gun was so far away. She lifted two middle fingers in Cam’s direction as she began to back peddle in whichever direction her back was facing. She needed to get back to Moody’s, though which way that was wasn’t all too clear right now. Penny’d figure it out soon enough. Focused on making sure her hatred was known to Cam while speaking “Ash! Call me when” hiccup “you gets home and lemme know if I have to beat him up.”, Penny forgot she was moving backwards, straight into a bush, which she turned on quickly with fists up. It took a minute for her to decide, standing back up straight and heading down the sidewalk again in her zig-zag, now punctuated by the occasional hiccup.

With anyone else, Ash would have backed up when someone came at her the way Penny had.  She may not have been violent, but she was drunk, and eyes could be poked if the pointer wasn't concentrating.  But Ash didn't flinch.  Penny wouldn't hurt her.  Shaking her head a little to clear it, she smiled at the ATM plan, swatting playfully at the hand in her face.  "It could work.. If it were alive and not one of the richest things ever.  It never needs money."

Ash was a little taken back that Cam would refuse to drive a defenseless, drunk woman home so bluntly.  Sure, she was a drug dealer with Italian Mob connections that had breifly attempted to use his sister against him, but come on!  She was also Ash's friend.  That totally trumped everything else in her books.  She watched Penny flip Cam off and stumble away, and took a moment to glare at him then went into action.

Sometimes being small, especially when drunk and her body tended to be a lot more fluid then when she was sober, was a good thing.  While Cam was busy trying to open the door for her, she slipped from his grip and ducked under his arms to hurry after her friend.  Sort of.  She had been using Cam for balance, apparently.  "Penny Lane!  Leave the bush alone!"  She laughed, glancing over her shoulder at her.. Whatever he was. "Thank you for bailing us out, babe.  But I can't just leave her.  I'm sorry."  She looked back to where she was going and nearly collided with the other woman.  Wrapping an arm around her waist, she tried to steady the zig zagging, and head in whatever direction they were going.

Cam made a face when Penny flipped him off, his brows drawing together and mouth thinning. Jesus, what a pain in the fucking ass. But he didn't care, he was intent on getting Ash into the car, until she slipped free of his grasp and went after her friend. He paused, looked up at the sky and said, "What? What did I do to piss you off? It's because I take your name in vain, right? That's it." He glanced back at the two women, now weaving down the sidewalk in an embrace of sorts. "Shit."

Letting Penny stumble off on her own, drunk and easily vulnerable to some mishap, was perfectly okay with him for obvious reasons; one being that he was an asshole. Letting Ash stumble off with her, drunk and easily vulnerable to some mishap, was not okay with him. He cared about Ash and had Penny not threatened his sister, he might even feel a tinge of guilt about making her walk. However, she did threaten his sister and therefore, he would not feel guilty. But it seemed the only way he was going to get Ash in the car was if he also got Penny into the car.

He went after the two girls and it did not take him long to catch up with them with his long legged strides. He was also capable of walking a straight line. You got a lot further, a lot faster when you weren't weaving from side to side. "Yeah...this is...just awesome," he mumbled, placing a hand on each of their shoulders and turning them, as a unit, around to head back in the direction of his car. "How about we get your drunk little selves in the car, huh? Don't make me carry you there." All he needed now as to get caught assaulting two drunk women on the street.

There had been a hefty sigh when Ash rained all over her ATM-robbery-through-duress plan. It had sounded like a pretty good plan to Penny. But Ash was likely right, she usually was. Thinking while drunk wasn’t Penny’s strong point. Playing a bad ass guitar solo while wasted? That Penny could do. But when it came to good critical thinking, sober Penny or even stoned Penny were far more reliable. This was even more true when whiskey came into the mix.

The bush was proving a formidable opponent. Staring at her like that. With its invisible eyes. Laughing at her really. Why Penny had let the damn bush get off with a mere warning was a mystery. She had half a mind to turn right back around and show that bush who was boss. She could make an example of the bastard for all of bushkind. Maybe even the buttons would take notice. By the time Ash caught up to Penny, she had taken up long strings of Yiddish curses directed at the bush. So absorbed in this activity, Penny had missed Ash calling after her and the clicking of heels as she approached. Her first warning was Ash’s comment to Cam, and it surprised Penny so much she nearly jumped out of her skin.

The arm around her waist came in the midst of the particularly wicked zig that had resulted from startling Penny. She was grateful for it, the shock of a moment earlier forgotten as an arm reached up to wrap around Ash’s shoulders. For once, the blond was taller than her. She laughed, “You have the” hiccup “best timing.” Her other hand was gesturing wildly on her other side as she resumed walking. “I should sing you a” hiccup “song. What song should” hiccup “we sing while we walk?”

Penny didn’t really wait for an answer. There was almost always a song in her head.

“Let’s go get stoned/woooo-ooo-oooo/Let’s go get stoned/You know my baby!/He won’t let me in./Got a few pennies/gunna go by myself a bottle of gin/then I’m gunna go call my buddy/on the telephone/and say Let’s go get stoned!”

She was in the midst of this number when Cam reached the pair. She even allowed herself to be turned to finish the verse, temporarily forgetting just who it was who was doing it until he was asking her to get in his car. Penny turned around quickly to stare at him wide-eyed. “Are you going to shoot me?” The words came in a loud whisper.

Ash could tell that she had startled the brunette, but she didn't fear the flailing limbs that were drunken Penny. She had years of experience in avoiding any hits. She was feeling slightly disappointed in Cam for his actions towards Penny, her alcohol fogged mind not finding anything wrong with her partner in crime. Penny was her totally platonic girlfriend, so she was perfect right now. And if they stuck together, they would make it through the night in one piece. Probably. Maybe. Hopefully. Yeah, no, not with how Penny like to make friends with homeless people.. they'd be stabbed eventually and that would suck. But they would do it together.

The weaving was making her dizzy, which ultimately made the weaving a little worse. "I have awesome timing, but not the best.. The best timing would be if we turned the corner, and there was pizza cause I am soooo hungry." She sighed heavily, patting her stomach. But the idea of a song distracted her. As did Penny's singing. "Oh my god, shhh. Shush!" She attempted to quiet Penny without actually covering her mouth, though she was tempted. They were right in front of the police station, was she really going to sing about getting high? She tried not to laugh, that only encourages people, right? She giggled though, despite her efforts to smother them with her hand, barely registering that they were going in a completely different direction then they had just been. She glanced back and smiled at Cam, waving at him before continuing on the trek, apparently back to the car.

When Penny spun around quickly, it threw Ash off her balance and she stumbled a bit, arms outstretching slightly to catch her balance again. What?! Shoot her?! "Woah, woah, woah! You were gonna shoot her?" She started out a little louder then necessary, but the last couple of words were no louder then a stage whisper. Her hands landed on her hips, balled in fists, and a glare was set on her face. "Why would you do that?" Her eyes narrowed further, set on Cam.

"What?!" Cam cried, a little too loudly as well. He glanced back over his shoulder, glad that he did not have his guns strapped on at the moment though he didn't see anyone of importance paying attention to them. Christ, why couldn't Drunk and Drunker just get in the damn vehicle?! "No! Maybe. Just get in the damn car!" he hissed, pausing in his annoyance just a second to admire how much he loved when Ash was feisty. Right now just wasn't the best timing, however. Besides, he wasn't supposed to be loving anything about Aislinn, which totally fucking sucked. He didn't really like being reminded of that either. He needed to get her home, so he could go home and drink himself back to sleep. Damn it.

"Look, I'm not gonna shoot anyone. Okay? I'm just gonna drive your drunk friend home and boot her ass out of the car so I can drive you home," he told Ash, then sighed in frustration with himself and the situation and...everything. Was Penny really afraid he would shoot her? Jesus. He turned his dark gaze to the short brunette. "I'm not gonna shoot you but if someone shoots at me for driving you home, I'm gonna be pissed. Now get in the car."

"Ohmig-d, pizza. Where can we get pizza right now?" These were moments when Penny's homeless friends making skills came in handy. Homeless guys always knew where there was a pizzeria that gave away whatever was left when they closed down for the night. Free pizza. Delicious. And then she was singing, rather loudly, too. It was a free country, though, right? It wasn't like she had her stash on her.

But Ash was shushing her and laughing, it was like saying 'no' while nodding. Penny had been about to start into the second verse when Cam had turned them. She finally stopped walking as they reached the car, watching him as he promised he wasn't going to shoot her. That was good. And for some reason, Penny trusted him. Likely because his car looked like it involved a lot less walking than walking. She was headed towards crawling into the backseat when he mentioned his feelings on being shot at, which was a good reminder for Penny. "Oh, yeah. You should probably just drop me at Moody's." She hoped that was explanation enough. For a ride to Moody's, she could do him the favor of not getting him shot. Gianni was always good for a ride home.

Penny decided, suddenly, that sitting bitch was a fabulous idea. She planted herself in the center seat, leaning all the way back so that she faced the ceiling, the back of her head pressed against the top of the seats. "Your car has a pretty ceiling."

Ash quirked an eyebrow when Cam said maybe. So he would shoot Penny. That wasn't good. At least he was being honest though, right? That scored him some points. And it was probably never going to change, so maybe she just had to learn to live with the fact that these two would never be bosom buddies. She just hoped it never got to the point where she had to choose one over the other. She couldn't. They were both way too important to her. Sighing, she shook her head and followed Penny towards the car, smacking her ass as she was crawling in. It was just too tempting.

When Penny mentioned Moody's, Ash nodded, sliding into the car. "Yeah, that's a good idea." She looked at Cam as he got into the car as well. "Unless I can stay with you for the night.." She smiled a little, wiggling her eyebrows before busying herself with buckling up. "I left my everything there, so I'm locked out of my place." It was a little bit of a challenge to get the buckle into the slot, but she managed. Secured in her seat now, she toed off her heels and pulled her legs up, wrapping her arms around her legs as she laid her head against the back.

Her eyes turned to the ceiling of the car, brow creasing when she didn't seen what was all that pretty about it. "I think you smoked too much. It's a ceiling.. kind of dingy looking, but it's a boys car." She stated, as if it was a proven fact that if the car was owned by a male then clearly it was going to be dingy.

Cam stared in near horror when Penny climbed into the front seat. The center, no less. He was going to be crammed into the front seat of his car with two drunk women, one of which would probably sooner shoot him in the face than... Well, she was the one sitting in the fucking middle, wasn't she? Ash climbed in behind her and Cameron just stood there for a moment, peering in after them, leaning slightly into the open passenger door. "Must be my charm, huh?" he said, a brow quirked at Penny. "I do believe you're warming up to me." With that he slammed the door shut and went around to get in on the driver's side.

His '69 GTO was not a compact car per se, but it wasn't a boat either. The three of them would be rather cozy up front like that but whatever. Fuck, by this point, Cameron didn't really care. He just wanted each drunk female to be deposited someplace relatively safe so he could go home and pretend he wouldn't rather climb into bed with one of them. The blonde one, of course. Not that Penny wasn't attractive. She was. But...yeah, that was...no.

"Unless I can stay with you for the night..." Wait, what? Was Ash talking to him? He slid a sideways glance in her direction as he started the engine. She wiggled her brows, looking entirely too damn cute for her own good. Or his. He scowled and turned his attention forward, pulling away from the curb, all the while trying to ignore the girl's chatter about the roof of his car. Apparently not only did they get drunk but they got high too. Lovely. No wonder they wanted pizza.

Understanding just what sitting in the middle meant required foresight, something drunk Penny lacked. Frankly, she just wanted to sit someplace that wasn’t the bench in the holding cell. Fuck, she hated the holding cell here. At least this time she wouldn’t have to sleep there. She squeaked as her ass was smacked, checking over her shoulder to make sure it was Ash before laughing it off. Ash smacking her ass? That was to be expected. A night with this much booze was bound to include a few ass smacks, maybe even a motorboat or two. Anyone who wasn’t Ash smacking her ass? That was grounds for losing a testicle. Well, except for Bene. Exceptions could be made for him.

It was only after Cam commented on Penny ‘warming up to him’ (a comment which only brought an eyeroll from Penny) and Cam entering the driver’s seat that Penny fully realized just where she had decided to seat. Why? Why did she do things like this to herself? And then there was the flirting across her. Oh G-d. Gross. She did not like her seat choice anymore. In fact, she hated it now. That left her with only one choice. Penny turned in her seat to climb over into the back. Actually, no, it couldn’t even really be called climbing, it was more of a sliding that ended up with her upside down in the backseat giggling uncontrollably. She had managed to do it without kicking anyone in the head, though. That much was impressive. Another plus of being short: front seat to back seat transfers. She had even managed it while responding to Ash. “What the fuck are you” hiccup “talking about? You can never smoke too much. It’s im-“hiccup”-possible. Well, not too much weed. You can smoke too” hiccup “much of other stuff.” Which was why, for the most part, Penny refused to sell those things. Leave the crackheads for the boys who could handle them. Selling crack was on Penny’s list of boy jobs.

Once safely in the back Penny righted herself. Leaning forward with her chin on the back of Ash’s seat. “Ya know who” hiccup “I wish was here, mannnn?” She paused, but not long enough for anyone to actually answer. “Mikey!” That had her flopping back into the seat again to dig around in her pockets. Usually, Penny was smart enough to keep her own phone (but not Laynie’s), her ID, and a card with emergency information on it. If you were gunna wind up shot or stabbed, it was probably good for people to know your blood type and that you were allergic to things. Tonight drunk Penny had managed to keep up the habit. “Yesss!!! Phone!!”

Nevermind the late hour and that Mikey was a real grown-up lawyer now, if he didn’t want to pick up, they could leave him a message. She hit his speed dial and waited, muttering through a song with lyrics about Mikey needing to pick up his fucking phone before she finally got voicemail.

“MIKKKKKEEEEYYYYY!!!!!! It’s ME! And I’m with Ash!" Penny was trying to tap Ash on the shoulder, though it was more of a light smacking in her current state, "ASH! ASH! Say Hi!” Penny held her phone up for the other girl to say what she needed to before leaning into the front so that both could be heard on the message at the same time. “We’ve got a” hiccup “song for you.” And then Penny broke into ‘New York! New York!’ Sober Penny might have almost felt bad for Cameron Drake at this point, had she been present, except not, because he was an ass.

Ash was enjoying the coziness of the three of them in the front. It was starting to warm her up. But alas.. It was not to be. She ducked a little as Penny slid into the back of the car, looking back in amazement that she had survived that. She would have asked if the brunette was okay, but the amount of giggling and talking was a sure sign she was fine. "Yeah.. no hard stuff.. never ever ever." She shook her head, which had her blinking a little as it made her dizzy again.

When Penny wished Mikey was here, she had to nod. "Oh yeah! He was always so much fun." Ash giggled and watched as Penny dug around in her pockets for whatever she was looking for. "Oh my god, oh my god.. do you remember that time that we played soccer with his keys and he kicked them down the drain? And then nearly got you nearly got stuck trying to grab them, so I had to hot wire his car? He was sooo pissed the next morning... that was like.. Oh no, don't call him!" Ash laughed trying to reach for the phone as Penny dialed. "Friends don't let friends drunk dial, P-Lane!"

Ash was giggling softly as Penny was clearly waiting for the man to pick up his phone, and attempting to turn in her seat though her current position with the seat belt were making it difficult. So she managed to wiggle sideways, legs now tucked under her a little more. "Oh my god.. Mikey! Hi Mikey! I miss you, you butt! I wish I was coming to see you too! Call me.." was all she managed to say before Penny was declaring that they had a song for him. A song? What song? She snorted and giggled when Penny started, but quickly regrouped and started joining in in the song. It was one of her favorites, and a staple for a drunken night with Penny (and in the past, Mikey) which always had to include a song and dance. She didn't even think about poor Cam who was now driving around his own show tunes.

He wanted to protest when he realized what Drunker's intent was; to climb over his seat, but he'd actually prefer her in the back. At least she wasn't wearing spiky heals or anything that could so easily snag or rip something (like his car's interior) to shreds! He took a deep breath, scowling at one sneaker clad foot that came dangerously close to his head. The five year old in him wanted to swerve at a rather inopportune time for her to send her sailing across the backseat. He managed to refrain but it was close.

Whoever Mikey was? Yeah, poor bastard. Actually, no. Mikey could at least hang up on the two drunks who began to sing and...not all that well in their intoxicated states. He swiped a hand down his face, clearly agitated. His foot his the gas just a little harder. The sooner he dumped off the brunette one, the sooner he'd have some fucking quiet.

He rolled his driver's side window down, fighting the urge to stick his head out the window like a dog, just so he could escape. But then he glanced over at Ash and she was so goddamn little and cute and giggly and singing and... Yeah, she really was kind of an adorable drunk and he was glad she was in his car, even if it meant dragging along her crazy friend. Because he didn't want to think about her in jail, or spending an entire night there. He shook his head slightly, smiling a little as he pulled up in front of Moody's.

“Not once! Not evah!” Okay, so maybe once, or three times, or whenever she could get her hands on opium, but that didn’t count. It smelled good, and it wasn’t like she could find it often, so there was no real risk of going all 19th century with it. Penny had been quite busy digging around for her phone, but mention of the night of the lost keys had Penny laughing harder than she had laughed in awhile. She collapsed sideways into the giggle fit, wiping at her eyes as she managed to sit back up. “He…he..he..” it took a few tries to rein in the laughter, “he wouldn’t lemme touch him with that hand.. for like… a week.”

Ash’s cries of protest went ignored, drunk dialing was Penny’s favorite. And this one appeared to be headed towards legendary as she sang, getting caught up in the song. The phone was basically forgotten, hanging in her hand near Ash’s shoulder as she swayed. It was likely the thing would cut off before they were done, but oh well. One song made Penny hunger for a second, but lucky for Cam, they were pulling up to Moody’s. Penny looked out the window. They were here! And there were no holes in Penny. That was exciting, though she was clearly sad to be leaving Ash. Penny got on her knees in the backseat so she could lean further into the front seat, turning to Ash.

“I luuuvveeeee yoouuuu!” She giggled, puckering her lips in Ash’s direction for a moment before turning to Cam. “You still suck, but thanks for the ride, buddy!” Her hand clapped down on his shoulder relatively hard a few times before she slid back into the back and then stumbled out the door and towards the club. Hands went over her head as she shouted a cheerful, “I’m back, baby!” and then stumbled towards the man at the door, Gianni, who had nothing but raised eyebrows for the car and Penny alike as he guided her inside.

By the end of the song, Ash had dissolved into a fit of giggles, mostly from Penny's... well, it couldn't really be called dancing, but it was entertaining. Poor, poor Mikey. He'd be glad he didn't pick up. Or maybe jealous. It had been years since they had done anything like this. Penny's puckered lips were coming at her, and Ash did what was natural in the state she was in. She kissed her best friend, totally platonic of course. No tongue. "I love you too!" She laughed, and flinched when she beat on Cam's shoulders. That probably wasn't a good idea. But Gianni was just outside, and Cam was smart enough not to react. Even still, Ash reached out and smoothed her hand over his arm. "Yeah.. thank you so much for this."

Rolling down her window as Penny walked away, she moved the shoulder strap out of the way so she could lean out the window a little. "Oh! Gianni! I left my.." But before she could even finish the thought, the man had come back out the door with her purse and coat in hand. "You are such a sweetheart.." She graciously accepted her things through the window before leaning out further to give the man a hug. "See you later.. keep my girl safe, you understand, or it's your ass I'll be kicking.." She threatened the now laughing Italian man as she slid back into the car properly. Draping her coat over her body, she sighed happily and turned her head so she could smile at Cam. "Home, geeves."
