From Wednesday evening to Saturday afternoon was something of a blur. Emotions running high tended to have that effect, well, that and a little bit of a bender. Being home and alone took some getting used to to begin with, and Cam getting all the way to her front door had made being all by herself just a little bit scary. Not that she would admit that to anyone, even herself. By Saturday afternoon, she just plain missed Bene’s company. Enough to pack up what she needed to get ready for the ball in a backpack, grab the garment bag with her dress, and head over to the Hotel Rome. She hadn’t called ahead, but she still hadn’t returned her copy of the key so she could always let herself in to wait if Bene weren’t home.
She was happy to find that there would be no need for that as she wandered in to find Bene on the couch. Penny stood by the door for a minute, looking at the back of his head as he stared out the window. It wasn’t exactly a nice day out, and she couldn’t imagine he was particularly happy if he was just laying there staring at the dreary sky. She lay her things down, careful to make sure her dress wouldn’t wrinkle before padding over, stopping at the arm to rest a hand on either side of his head and lean over to look down at him. Penny’s hair was down, and the espresso waves fell to form a curtain around her face, a few locks tickling one of his cheeks. She pulled her lips into a smile, even though her eyes gave away her concern.
“Hey you. If you missed me that much all you had to do was call.”
