Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Conor, Cameron and Riley H.
WHERE: The Lantern
WHEN: Friday Afternoon
WHAT: Business gone awry
RATING: PG-13ish?

He was already irritated and he hadn't even completed half of the business that he'd wanted to before the day was done. And at the rate things were going, Conor was fairly certain that he wouldn't actually complete it all. Yes, it irritated him. Would he be able to change this fact? Likely not. So lucky for everyone that had the blessing to be around him for the rest of the evening. He'd parked his car in the spot that he'd always used. Or rather that his father had always used. Maybe it wasn't actually a spot but the space next to the back entrance had always been used by his family. Sean had never complained. Riley likely would.

Then again he wasn't supposed to be here period right? He was due bodily harm for this soon no doubt. Though if she wanted to inflict pain on him every mention of Dante Morelli and every flirting word with any other male managed to hit the mark.

Conor pocketed the keys to his car while making sure that the sportcoat he wore covered the gun that was tucked into the back waistband of his pants as he walked into the familiar surroundings. Checking his phone for the time he found his table, and yes it was just as reserved as the parking spot in the back whether Riley liked it or not. Some things were still respected in this town. Even if Conor still didn't feel... right in the spot. Who knew if he ever would. Though a whiskey might help with it in this moment while he waited for Cameron. Whiskey without a punch to the face preferably.

This was one meeting in particular that Cameron was not looking forward to. Mostly because of the thing with Rory and Pico and then a little bit because he'd maybe made the mistake of helping out a friend; a friend he shouldn't probably have in the first place. But Cameron intended to make it very clear where his loyalties were placed if Conor should find the need to question them. He hoped Conor knew him better than that. But all that aside, he'd gone into apparent Italian territory and mixed it up just a bit with the Italian right hand man. It wasn't his most shining moment. Perhaps if he'd put a bullet in Bene's head, he'd be able to look back on the moment fondly. Except for the whole shooting Pico's brother dead right in front of her shit. Yeah, there was that. But it didn't happen and so it was moot and he should stop thinking about it. There was more important shit going on at the moment.

He swung open the front door of The Lantern and entered, his eyes adjusting from bright to dim. Cam didn't have to search out Conor, he knew exactly where his boss would be sitting, at the same table his old boss used to occupy. There was no sign of Ry yet as he made his way back to the table and slid into a seat. Did Riley really intend to park her sweet ass on his lap? Probably. If the situation were not so serious, Cam would probably laugh. As if it wasn't obvious to anyone paying attention, and anyone who knew the history, that she was pissed at him for something and trying to use Cam to get back at him. Well, not Cam specifically, any guy sitting in front of Conor would do. It just happened to be Cam's lucky day.

"Boss," he said lightly in greeting, waiting for someone to take his order because he intended to have a drink himself.

Conor wasn't exactly looking forward to this little meeting either, of course for very different reasons. Near the top of the list was the fact that Riley had seemingly made it her personal mission to drive him insane. At this rate it wasn't going to take long or it would end up with a rash of dead people that didn't deserve to be dead. Though the latter wasn't likely to happen and that was the other problem Conor was having. Not that it was up for discussion or analysis but the violence of his life was never something he enjoyed unlike many of the people that were drawn to this life. Instead it sat heavy on his shoulders. Much like the pain of his father's death, his relationship with his brother Rory, his mother... Riley, the list went on and on.

He really did need a drink.

Conor gave a short nod of his head as he spotted Cameron enter the pub. He returned the greeting as the other man sat down with a "Cameron. What's your poison before we get started?"

The boss wasn't looking so thrilled but Cameron didn't even try to guess why. He was aware, knowing the guy as a kids, that Conor didn't always enjoy the nature of the beast that was this business. It was just one of the ways in which he and Conor differed. Conor was well educated, sophisticated and civilized in a way that Cameron would never be. Cameron respected him for that and it was exactly those reasons why Cam respected him as his boss too. He may have to make the tough decisions, and Cam trusted that he was capable, but he didn't necessarily have to get his hands dirty. That was what he had men like Cameron for. Cam was typically all too eager to fulfill his orders. Justice was justice. Certain things had to be done for very specific reasons. That was just the way it was.

"Bourbon and coke," he answered. His favorite. He may lack sophistication but he knew and expensive bourbon when he tasted it on his tongue, sliding down so smooth it had the power to take him away for just a moment.

He rested his elbows on the edge of the table and swiped a hand down his face, glancing towards the bar for any sign of Riley. This had the potential to become extremely awkward.

Well if neither of the guys were thrilled then Riley certainly wasn't thrilled. How many times did she need to tell Conor to stay the hell away before he finally got a damn clue? A trillion at this rate. It really was getting ridiculous and eventually she would end up having to resort to true violence. Not that she minded getting her hands dirty but blood was a bitch to get out of a wood floor. Just saying.

Riley was in the back dealing with some paperwork when the two arrived and the bartender on duty probably risked his own life by popping his head in the back and letting her know. Grumbling to herself, she finished up what she was doing and pushed away from the desk. If Conor was going to be stupid then he was going to have to pay for it. That was all there was too it. Unbuttoning the blue top she was wearing a few buttons so that not only was she flashing some nice cleavage but there was no question what color (black) bra she was wearing, she pulled her hair out of the ponytail it was in and headed on out.

Grabbing their drinks before they could be delivered, she strutted right on over and placed them on the table. "Here you boys go," she said with a sweet smile that wasn't even remotely sincere. Batting her eyes over at Cam, she went ahead and slid right into his lap and wrapped her arms around his neck, not really giving him much of choice other than to just deal with her. Granted he could choose to look her straight in the eye so that their noses were practically touching, down so that he was checking out her rack or elsewhere but really, what fun was that.

"So how have you been Cameron? You know, I've missed you dropping in..."

And his luck finally ran out.

Conor couldn't help but sigh as he caught sight of the person delivering the drinks. The bourbon and coke for Cameron and the whiskey for him, he rarely deviated from that order unless the night called for a beer. Today, he needed something stronger then that. He should have just ordered two as it stood with Riley sashaying her open blouse over to the table. He managed to mutter an 'incoming' before Riley was there and setting the drinks down before them.

He immediately reached for his glass and took a sip, watching the little show going on in front of him over the edge of the glass. And what a show it was. Knowing that didn't change just how much watching him irritated him. He didn't let Cameron answer before he jumped in. "Thanks for the drinks Riley now if you don't mind we have things to discuss." Please leave or his head might explode.

Cameron caught the boss's little warning and his dark eyes shifted just as she sat their drinks on the table. He was waiting, waiting for what he figured was sure to come because...well fuck it all, he couldn't decide if he had shit luck or if he should just fucking enjoy it for what it was. Riley sank down onto his lap and his gaze - now could one blame him - was immediately drawn to her chest. She wanted him to look, right?

His mouth opened, gaped really, but he fully intended on speaking until Conor spoke up and basically dismissed her. Cam chuckled softly, unable to bite it back. He doubted Riley would be that easy to get rid of. What was it with chicks named Riley and their stubbornness?

Because it seemed natural and because he didn't really know what else to do with his hands; he slid one arm around her waist and with the other, picked up his drink and took a rather healthy swallow. Really, Cam didn't mind all of this even though all it accomplished was delaying the inevitable. For him at least. He had no idea exactly what Riley was trying to accomplish. Well, maybe he had a vague idea.

Riley had never been the short of girl to flaunt her assets or be overly flirtatious, it just wasn't her style. However, she was making an exception just for Conor and it was partially to see where he still stood on certain things and partially just because she knew it would irritate him regardless of whether or not he still had feelings for her. And he deserved it after leaving her so there was that as well.

Her blue eyes narrowed as she shot a look Conor's way. There was no way in hell that she was going to be dismissed that easily and if he thought she was then he really was as stupid as he acted. At least Cameron was behaving as he should be and yeah, maybe she took a little bit of pleasure in that. It was nice to admired on occasion, she couldn't really deny that. "I don't think Cameron here wants me to leave just yet, do you?" she asked as she looked down at the man and smirked.

Flashing a grin over her shoulder at Conor, she turned back and ran her fingers down along the back of Cam's neck and through his hair. "Have you been working out?" she asked before sliding both hands across his shoulders and then down his arms. "I bet you'd look great without a shirt on," she added suggestively as she maybe wiggled her hips a little.

He hadn't actually thought his words would work. He had hoped they would though. A foolish hope for certain but damn if a man couldn't try. She looked as though she was ready to settle in for the long haul and that didn't bode well for any of them. Maybe it would be worst for Cameron. He would be the one that would bear the brunt of this little encounter.

That was made absolutely certain when Cameron put his arm around her waist. Given the situation where else was he supposed to put it? Was he supposed to shove her off his lap? Any rational person would say no, however Conor wasn't being rational at the moment. Instead his eyes were glued on that hand and the old saying was true.. if looks could kill. That was one dead hand.

There were words on the tip of his tongue, none of which would come across good on his part but they were all stilled by the way she was running her hands all over Cameron. "For the lov-" His glass hit the table a bit too hard, sloshing some of the whiskey over the edge. Conor's lips thinned as he did his best to contain the urge to end this situation now in entirely inappropriate ways. "The whore routine doesn't suit you, now stop." Okay so maybe he hadn't been able to contain it all. Whoops.

Long before he'd even entered the bar, Cameron had resigned himself to the fact that he would likely feel some sort of physical pain during this encounter. He even chuckled to himself on the drive over as he'd thought of that quote from a movie he couldn't recall where the guy stated, "Pain don't hurt." It was true in a way. Of course, pain actually did hurt, but it was somewhat controllable by sheer force of will and the use of a few good brain cells. Mind over...well, yeah. That whole deal. So while he should have been fairly concerned with his physical well being, he was actually more concerned with finishing his drink before the shit hit the fan. It didn't really seem as thought that was going to work out for him though.

"Wh...uh...," he stuttered when she asked if he'd been working out. Of course he had. He always did and she knew that, right? Most people knew that what with the bulky muscle and all. Oh...oh, okay, this was...what did Conor just call it? Yeah, the slut routine. Although, Cam was pretty sure that was the wrong thing to say on Conor's part.

Cam focused his attention on the man across the table from him. Conor was coming close to reaching his limits. Maybe he already had but at least he was still seated. For now. And even though Cameron watched him closely for any sign that he was about to attack, Cameron would do little else than move defensively. It wasn't as if he'd do anything to purposely cause his boss harm. It was dishonorable. Cam was very aware of how he was perceived but he was not without any honor whatsoever.

"Well fuck me," he muttered, bringing his glass to his lips and practically inhaling his drink.

The best part about this whole thing was that Riley could feel just how irritated Conor was getting and that made everything worth it. She didn't even have to look at him to know that he was getting pissy mainly because she could tell that Cam was feeling uncomfortable and this was Cam they were talking about so it wasn't because she was in his lap but probably because the vein in Conor's forehead was about to burst.

Of course all of her fun was completely ruined the second Conor opened his mouth, which was entirely stupid on his part. The hands she had on Cameron's shoulders stilled and her spine straightened as she took at deep breath. Looking down at Cam, she smirked and then slid out of his lap. "Maybe later," she said in a sultry voice before glancing over at Conor and leaning in to kiss Cam's cheek...and then ear which she of course had to bite just a little.

Straightening up, she turned toward Conor and placed one hand on her hip. "If you ever call me a whore again, I'll make sure that you won't ever have to worry about having children. Are we clear?" Giving him the "don't even fuck with me" face, she reached down, picked up his glass of whiskey and poured it into his lap. "Don't let the door hit you boys on the wait out," she grumbled as she slammed the glass back down and then stormed off toward the back.
