Strictly anonymous typewritten owl to Daily Prophet, Quibbler, Witch Weekly
Who are you to say I'm not human?

I'm a pretty normal person, I think. I live alone. I don't have any pets. I
visit my family sometimes for dinner. I spend most of my days working trying to
earn enough money to pay for my flat. I love sherbert ice cream, dogs and
brightly coloured ribbons.

Oh, and two and a half years ago I was bitten.

The thing is, most of the time if I feel different it's because other people
are reminding me that I am. They're saying non-humans shouldn't be allowed
this that or the other, that they can't hold down jobs, they shouldn't be
allowed near children, they can't live in this flat or that building until I
start wondering what's left. I mean, do people actually want all the werewolves
in Britain to be living in the Forbidden Forest, starving and desperate? Because
that seems a little counter productive to me.

A werewolf is only a wolf one day a month, for a third of the day. That's
about two percent of the time. The rest of the month you couldn't tell them
from Joe. When they're human they don't want to eat you, they don't eye your
children and wonder how many meals they'd last. Sometimes we get a bit
restless and want to go running near the full moon. Sometimes we like our
steak a little more rare than we used to. But we still look in the mirror and
see ourselves as human, just like you do. Just like everyone does.

If you want to stop werewolf attacks, make Wolfsbane easier to afford and
more widely available. I get it when I can, but that's only every second
month or so. If you want to make werewolves into productive members of
society, let them hold down jobs and have somewhere to live. Make them
happy with their lives. Trust me: we just want to be like anyone else.

We just need you to let us.
