Who: Gar, Sam (Shamsiel), and Arkady What: Sam needs a job at the carnival When: Tuesday night (backdated) Where: Arkady's trailer Status: Ongoing
Gar and Sam had traded off using the trailer's bathroom to try and clean up, but given the beatings they'd handed each other, that was pretty much going to be a lost cause. But the food helped more than anything else, making Sam feel more like himself. Gar was leading the way now, but they were still walking step in step and side by side as if they'd been joined together from shoulder to knee.
Their boots were dual rumbles of thunder rolling on the asphalt, and their shadows were near-identical spears of blackness that hid their approach until Gar halted them.
Gar stopped at another long trailer, and took in a deep breath before he leaned forward and knocked on the door, loud enough to be heard throughout it, but not TOO loud as to sound urgent or aggressive in nature. He looked over at Sam, and smiled wide at him, then back to the door. "Arkady. It's Gar. Nothing's wrong.... much." he said under his breath with a smirk, then continued on, "I have someone here I would like you to meet please, if you have the time." he said, then folded his hands in front of himself and rocked back and forth on his feet while he waited for Arkady to hopefully answer, and in a pleasant mood.
Arkady was sitting in his trailer, waiting. He had heard the commotion on the midway but had refused to go get involved. He knew the circumstances of Gar's sanctuary here, knew that another one of the Heavenly Host might come to collect the stoic grigori any time and it might be the kind of situation that he didn't want to find himself in the center of. But when Gar knocked and spoke, Arkady lifted his head, pushed his dreadlocks out of his eyes. Jesus. "Come in," he said quietly, his voice resonant enough to carry to the ears of the angels.
Though Sam hadn't expected overjoyed excitement, given their earlier brawl, he had been hoping for a voice that sounded less inclined to attempt to wipe the pavement with his ass. Because that's what the vampire's voice sounded like to Sam, but then he had to remind himself, he hadn't heard voices other than his own in quite some time. It was going to take some time to get used to it again.
Steeling himself for anything, he pushed open the door as soon as he'd heard the okay, and climbed up the stairs first. Like Gar's trailer, it was longer than it was wide, and three large individuals made it feel--to Sam, at least--like it was the size of a shoebox and he shifted nervously.
Gar followed Sam in, and when he stopped just inside of the doorway, not allowing him to step farther in, "Move angel." He said then gave Sam a shove between the shoulder blades strong enough to move him forward, but not enough to send him careening in to Arkady. "Arkady, I'd like you to meet Shamsiel. But like me, he doesn't go by that anymore." he said and used Sam's real name only to show Sam that he trusted Arkady implicitly with this dangerous, and precious information. "He's found himself on our grounds seeking amusement, and he found instead, me." he said and grinned at Arkady. "I sort of mistook him for an assassin, and we got into it. I'm afraid there was some collateral damage." he said and then rubbed at the back of his head in a showing of regret.
"...how much damage?" Arkady asked, looking over at the two of them and arching his brow the tiniest bit. He kept his expression neutral as he studied the pair of big hulking angels, their exotic features. "..is it going to draw more attention to us, having two of you in the same facility?" he inquired honestly, tipping his head to the side and his dark gaze roving over Sam critically.
"It shouldn't," Sam answered honestly. "In all this time, neither one of us has ever been found; to my knowledge, the Host hasn't found a single one of the two hundred, not since we were cast down and escaped." He hadn't missed the fact that Ramiel trusted Arkady, and so he would not pull his punches. "I hope that no one is looking, but should they look, they will not expect to find the both of us together. Your people will be safe."
Then Sam gave a wry grin, his cracked lip pulling open as his mouth twisted. "Of course we will clean up after ourselves, so that no trace of our blood remains on the ground should we go at it again."
Gar let Sam speak, then nodded in agreement. "We .... I trashed one of the prize tents, most of the stuffed animals inside. You can deduct the costs from my pay." he said with out hesitation. "If it's alright, Sam can bunk with me. I'm certain he is going to be a good influence on me..." he said and shot a glance over at Sam, and let the smallest of smirks appear on his face, then looked back toward Arkady. "I can't explain what it would mean to have him here. He's my comrade, my fellow Grigori, my brother." he said proudly. "If he were to be turned away... I would have to go with him. Our ties run that deep." he said simply, and wasn't trying to press Arkady's hand, but spoke the truth. He was willing to give up what he had built here, to go on the run with one of his own.
"The two of you in one trailer," Arkady mused, the tiniest shake of his head. "Why do I feel that this will end up giving me the worst headache of any act in this carnival?" But his smile was wry and he looked at the two of them, focusing more on Gar for a moment. The grigori had never asked much of him, had done his best to remain respectful of the vampire's authority here even though by all counts an angel was a more supreme and powerful being than Arkady could ever be with his mere vampiric existence. "What will you do here at the carnival? To earn your keep?" he asked Sam.
Sam was ready for that one based just on his walk around the midway today. "You need more mobile security. Not that what you've got isn't more than adequate, given the kind of being that inhabits this place," he said quickly, not wanting to really offend. "But for the safety of your customers, you could do with a big, hulking giant staring them down if one's had a few too many at the beer tent or decides that he should've won the prize and didn't."
