Who: Drake & Arkady
What: Look what the cat dragged in... an old acquaintance makes a reappearance
When: Forward Dated a few days to September 17 when the Carnivale is in Portland OR
Where: the Ringleader's trailer
There was nothing epic or even dramatic about the man walking past the entertainment tents and towards the living quarters, other than him being tall, and obviously well built. He kept his head down, the dark hood of his coat leaving only his brow and the tip of his nose outside of shadows. Only those with an enhanced sense of smell or who could otherwise sense the presence of those other than human would have detected that he was no ordinary man. It amazed him how easily he remembered the general layout of the Carnivale after all these years. Funny how he could remember a certain trailer was blue that had been painted green fifty years ago, but he couldn't recall one word of any conversation he'd had just yesterday.
Security had been none too happy to see him wandering around, of course, but it seemed to suffice that he said he was aiming to join the Carnivale to have them point him in the direction Arkady had last been seen. So the old vampire was still running the show. Interesting. This could be good or bad, depending on the mood the Ringleader was in today. Drake had made no friends the last time he had been among the carnies here. Other than maybe Arkady himself, he had pretty much made it a point to burn all his bridges. But then that was all he knew how to do back then. Fifty years might not have taught him any kindness nor returned any of whatever humanity he might once have had, but at least they'd taught him some restraint.
Drake felt more of a stranger than he had the first time he had done this same thing. He knocked on a trailer door and took a few steps back before calling out the name. "Arkady!" Drake then pushed his hood back from his face and braced himself for whatever reception he might get. The dragon man could only hope his greeting wouldn't involve a couple of brand new holes and a dose of high impact lead poisoning.
