Fred wanted to scream. She wanted him to see she wasn't asking him to leave. Yet, Fred didn't say a word. Instead, she just listened to him as he talked. Fred would wait for him to finish before she said another word. It was only fair for him to be able to state his side.
And then he had to say it. He wanted her as his wife.
"Are you only asking because you want me to stay?" Fred asked. She wanted a honest answer. The last thing she wanted was for him to promise her something only because he needed her to stay.
While she was waiting for the answer, Fred stood from the couch and went to where they kept Brahms food. No reason for him to suffer because they were having a disagreement. After filling his bowl, she sat it down and then turned her attention back to Rupert.
"And I never asked you to leave," she quietly said.
