Who: Tabitha and OPEN What: Eggs and bunnies all in a row When: Yesterday-ish Where: Pack farm
Easter was here.
Tabitha hadn't been raised to celebrate it; none of the natural borns she knew had been. But Rich had been bitten and not born, and so she had learned to partake in human holidays and traditions while they were together. Now the little ones were accustomed to it, and she liked the excitement she could see in the children whenever holidays were approaching.
It actually seemed appealingly pagan to her, celebrating fertility and the end of winter, but spring was her favorite time of the year anyway and Tabitha's brood never needed an excuse for a good party.
Which would be why she had taken over her brother's kitchen. She had done much of the baking in hers, but the table was bigger at the farmhouse and holidays were meant to be spent with extended family anyway. This meant that as usual there were packmembers from across the state gathered around a fresh kill roasting in the backyard around a fire and plates piled high with food, as much to celebrate being together as the holiday, though dozens of colored eggs now lay in their styrofoam cartons on the table while the dozen pups Tabitha had organized into hunting for them now played outside in the sprawling yard.
Tabitha watched them out the window for a long minute, smiling to herself at their antics. Then she turned back to the kitchen, gathering another tray of treats to carry out to the party.
