We have a weiner, guys. (Update on the Planned Parenthood Aurora situation)

LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]amethyst_hunter)

Per this post that I made some time ago about the Planned Parenthood clinic set to open in Aurora Illinois, I've been watching the situation snowball into an uglyfest, and this is only the beginning. Remember Operation Save America/Operation Rescue? The terrorizing bunch that is CONFIRMED as having used violence against women's clinics in the past? THEY'RE HOOKING UP WITH PLAL/PLAN, which is the predominantly driving force behind the anti-choice attack on the Aurora PP.

AURORA, Ill., Aug. 20 /Christian Newswire/ -- Operation Rescue announces that it is joining forces with Joe Scheidler and the Pro-Life Action League, to urge pro-lifers from around the nation to help prevent an "abortion fortress" from opening in the Chicago suburb of Aurora...

The capper on that page is this revolting little blurb at the bottom:

Operation Rescue is one of the leading pro-life Christian activist organizations in the nation. Operation Rescue recently made headlines when it bought and closed an abortion clinic in Wichita, Kansas and has become the voice of the pro-life activist movement in America. Its activities are on the cutting edge of the abortion issue, taking direct action to restore legal personhood to the pre-born and stop abortion in obedience to biblical mandates. (emphasis mine)

Yeah. We have a VERY serious problem here, all right. (I've even made a separate blog detailing news updates about it as they come) It just makes me sick to think that these attack dogs have suckered so many people into thinking that PP does more harm than good.

Latest word is that they'll be holding an anti-choice rally at the site today, where, in Eric Scheidler's words, they'll circle the site 7 times (wtf, is there some kind of significance associated with that number?) while doing their chant-and-singing thing. (A judge had previously ordered a temporary restraining order as per the city's request to determine where exactly they'd allow the anti-choice bunch to set up shop; lawsuits are currently flying on both sides as 1) PP sues the city for instigating a delay in the clinic's scheduled opening, Sept. 18th, which it now looks like won't happen due to the ongoing review process by an outside lawyer to determine that everybody signed and dotted their T's like they should've, and 2) PLAN intends to sue PP and spokesman Steve Trombley for Trombley's recent full-page ad stating the case for PP in Aurora (which will be refuted by an anti-choice ad appearing in this Sunday's forthcoming local newspapers, allegedly signed by clergy that oppose PP), including the associations with Operation Rescue.)
