I was discussing the confrontational saber rattling between Bush and Ahmadinejad a couple of days ago with my friend from Iran, and I'm not sure if she or I came up with this idea, but between us we both came up with a notion of getting ordinary people from both countries talking directly to each other, pen-pal style, and establishing friendships by correspondence, then having that common community persuade both leaders to get with the program. I have it on reliable authority that Americans as ordinary people are still quite popular with ordinary Iranians, posturing by the government and the ayatollahs notwithstanding.

And that idea could be used with a lot of other countries besides Iran .. :D
