It's up to Republican Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell to decide whether a challenge to the voter registration of his Democratic opponent for Ohio governor will move forward.

To clarify why this is important:

Ken Blackwell is running for governor of Ohio.

Ken Blackwell was Ohio's secretary of state during the 2004 presidential election and played a very similar role to the one Katherine Harris played during the 2000 presidential election. (In both cases, officials in charge of certifying election results were also key Bush campaign managers, and in both cases, highly controversial results strongly suggested conflicts of interest.)

Ken Blackwell has numerous documented dominionist connections, as well as the dubious distinction of being very familiar to both [info]dark_christian and Black Box Voting. Ohio is somewhat infamous for the pre-2004 promise by Diebold's CEO to deliver Ohio's votes to the GOP.

Ken Blackwell's opponent in the gubernatorial race is polling about 5 points ahead.

And now apparently someone has made the "startling discovery" that said opponent files his tax returns from a different address from the one he uses on his voter registration. And the motion to dismiss the challenge split along party lines and tied .. and the subsequent vote to postpone action on the challenge also split along party lines and tied.

And guess what? Blackwell is the one who is supposed to break the tie ..

Any bets on how this goes down?

[EDIT: Update from the discussion on BBV: Sharp eyes need to get sharper. This story is about residency and IF Strickland can vote, guess his wife too, NOT if Strickland will be taken off the ballot in Ohio. ]
