Homecoming Dance At McNeil HS (Round Rock, TX) Canceled

"Students had been warned for several years not to be dancing inappropriately," Round Rock Independent School District spokesperson Joylynn Occhiuzzi said.

Now administrators are taking action.

"The type of dancing kids are taking part in is sexually explicit dancing that cannot be tolerated in any high school activity," Occhiuzzi said.

I've always sort of known Round Rock was a pretty conservative town, but given the traditional Baptist attitudes toward dancing and the increase in confirmed dominionist activity in the area around Austin, this really raises my suspicions about the RRISD school board. The decision itself is probably not high profile news, but I still have to wonder why the school thinks they might be "liable" for having a homecoming dance ..
