Republican "questionnaire" received

LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]heartlikeawheel)

I admit I don't normally start topics in this community, but I read it every day, and I always enjoy what all of you have to say. Occasionally I comment, but mostly I just enjoy reading. But this is really bugging me...

Above all else, I am a defender of the Constitution and of the civil liberties that Americans are seeing disappear every day.

Yesterday in the mail I received something called "Ask America -- 2006 Nationwide Policy Survey". It said that I was "chosen", in addition to 1000 other people in my town, to participate. It's clearly a propaganda piece from the RNC. The funny thing is, although I have voted in every major election, I have never voted in a primary, which means I have never "declared" a party, yet this questionnaire not only asked me 58 questions of what I thought about Bush and his policies (with a heavy slant in favor of him and them), but they also asked for me for MONEY to "help stop the liberal Democrats' obstructionism and keep Republicans in Congress this election day".

Like, WTF?

Whatever made them think I was a neocon, I'd like to know? Or are they just "phishing" here in a desperate attempt to hoodwink people to their side? A couple of the questions were clearly religious in nature, such as "do I favor a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage". The answer of course was NO, circled 800 times, and a comment that the government should keep their stinking noses OUT of people's personal lives.

I finished the questionnaire and gave them quite an earful. I bet when they receive it, they'll instruct the CIA to start a file on me as an "enemy combatant", aka "dissenter". If they don't have a file on me already, that is. Bastards.

I'm curious--did anyone else receive this questionnaire?
