Morris Cerullo

LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY [info]multiclassgeek)

On the Underground the other day, I saw a poster advertising Mission To London, a healing/evangelism rally led by a man named Morris Cerullo.

I recall attending one of these events, about 15 years ago; Based on what I remembered, my Dominionist-Sense began tingling.

Hard info on Mr Cerullo seems slightly scarce, certainly, my initial investigations have failed to turn up any credible resources (even his Main-Wiki entry is a stub): However, he may have links to the Assemblies of God, and he certainly seems to embody the very essense of Televangelism (right down to the usual sucession of fraud cases). Perusal of his website confirms that, yes, his doctrinal statement is one of those Bible > God > Jesus.

However, although his ministry finds itself subject to the usual skepticism about healings, I don't recall his position being necessarily Dominionist - 'just' (term used with sarcasm) an American Evangelical. Additionally, some of the affiliated churches are ones I know quite well, and are not the sort of churches that would get involved with anyone who was pushing Hardcore Dominionism.

Additionally, further browsing reveals some odd clashes on the "Guest Speakers" front: Benny Hinn (known Dominionist) is being billed alongside RT Kendall (well-regarded theologian, of the Evangelical/Pentcostal school, but not Dominionist)

Anybody have anything to add?
