LJ-SEC: (ORIGINALLY POSTED BY swisscelt)
I was aimlessly surfing the Web, and came across the website of Lilley [sic] of the Valley Virginia. I took one look at the exhortations to exalt Jesus, the cliched and well-edited biblical passages, and graphics to put a fluffy teenage Wiccan bunny to shame, and came to the conclusion that this is a radical Christian site. Then I saw a link to their 9-11 Memorial, and steeled myself as I followed the link, hoping to get some more material to use for this community.
Folks, I could not have been more wrong. While still a rather bad display of grammar and overdone HTML, not to mention a few Christian sectarian references, the site was... well, perhaps "beautiful" is too strong a term. It had an inner beauty in the way that a lifelong rural Midwesterner, middle-aged and of average comeliness, has an inner beauty. It reached out, as best a site by "Bible-believing Christians" can, to Americans of every stripe. Reading it, I became rather ashamed at doubting their aims.
I suppose the moral of this story is to be careful not to judge, even those whom we believe are judging us.
