Harris still couldn't believe that Scotty had done something as stupid as confess to a crime he'd had no part in. But that was a lie, wasn't it? Harris
could believe it, and he should have anticipated it. And now the younger boy had spent a night in holding, and if Harris hadn't already been determined to get Scotty out of this, than he would have been now. As such, he'd come in with [x] to post Scotty's bail, but had stayed behind to confess. It didn't matter. In just under a month, he'd be turning eighteen anyway, and once school had ended, well... Well, at least this way he'd have a roof over his head. Even if it meant not graduating.
Because when it came down to graduating and Scotty's well-being, Harris would always put the latter first. He knew his decision would cause trouble. Knew the police had already checked his alibi with Gabe and now risked putting the other boy in danger of facing accusations of lying, or of aiding and abetting, but none of that mattered, not really. What mattered was convincing them of what was inherently true: that Scotty had nothing to do with the fire, and had only confessed in an attempt to protect Harris. The blond debated long and hard for a while, wondering whether or not to call his social worker, his PO, or his usual lawyer, but, in the end, it was Sebastian's cellphone number that he found himself dialing.
