At five am, Gabriel couldn't stand it anymore. He eased himself away from Scottie and got out of bed, unable to sleep. A shower didn't help, nor did getting dressed. Gabriel bundled himself up in his cold-weather clothes and headed out to find some solitude. He couldn't go to the tree he had claimed as his own, as that was one place Scotty would look for him, so he went instead to the track. Maybe he'd shed his coat and go for a run... or maybe he'd just sit and think. When had things gotten so out of control?
