Blaine managed to last until AP U.S. History, tapping his pencil on his desk and looking over at the empty desk beside him. No Ben to joke about Mr. Holden with. No Ben
anywhere. He pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed before raising his hand.
"Mr. Holden? I'm not feeling that well. May I be excused?"
Of course Mr. Holden excused him. Blaine was his pet, after all, his favorite senior. Blaine gathered his bag and slipped out the door.
He sent Connie a simple email (I think it's just the stress and everything. I'm going to lie down for the rest of the day, so I won't be in class. No need to check in on me, though. I'll send you another email when I get up) and grabbed a t-shirt and hoody. He told the guard at the gate that he was picking up some supplies for a teacher, Mr. Holden, Warbler stuff, you know how it is, and got waved through, and then he turned his car toward Columbus. He stopped briefly at McDonald's to swap his shirts in the bathroom but otherwise took no breaks until he was parked outside Ben's grandparents' house. This was the only place outside of Dalton that Ben would run to when he was upset. And that was Ben's car. Blaine took a deep breath and climbed out of his own SUV, shoving his hands into his pockets as he made his way to the door to knock.
