Who: Eoin and Aaron (and I guess anyone else passing by?)
What: Eoin comes home
Where: Dalton gates The school office
When: February 16th, lunchtime
Rating: SFW, at least for now (You never know with the Irish)

The sleep had helped, at least a little. The timezones, he knew from experience, would be kicking him in the arse for a while yet. Worse than that, though, was facing coming back at all. It wasn't even the reactions he worried about, or the fact that if this was going to work out, he'd have to work just as hard out of school as in it.

No, it was the fact that he'd had to come back. That, despite him telling himself it was for Rose's sake, or Aaron's, or Gabe's, or anyone else's, he knew it was for his sake more than any of theirs. Dalton was home to him now, as much as Skibbereen or Dublin; maybe more.

How many homes could a guy have, and still feel like he fitted into any of them?

Sighing, he readjusted his grip on his suitcase, and stopped outside the gates, looking up at the school. He hadn't told anyone he was coming back, and with Rose in hospital he guessed he could just slip back into their room without anyone noticing, once he'd sorted out the paperwork and all the administrative stuff. Small steps. He might not be as tired as he'd been yesterday, but he still wasn't sure he wanted to deal with reactions to his return just yet.

"I've been a wild rover for many's the year..." he sang quietly, under his breath, and hefted his suitcase, starting the last few feet back onto Dalton grounds. "...And I've spent all my money on whiskey and beer. But now I'm returning, with gold in great store, and I swear I shall play the wild rover no more..."

Aaron was in the office. He'd just, one half hour past, received the call: he was cast as Paul in the local theatre's production of A Chorus Line. So now, of course, he needed to explain to the office that there'd be classes he'd have to leave early some days for rehearsal.

He was standing at the front desk, back to the door and rehearsal schedule in his hand, when the door opened behind him, and he heard the humming.

His spine straightened. There was no one else it could be - the first lilt betrayed Eoin, really. Aaron turned slowly, perhaps slightly disbelieving his ears.

"...No way."

Eoin put his suitcase down by the door, running his hand back through his hair, and offered a crooked, wry smile. "Nope. It's your imagination. You just miss me so much you're hallucinating. Should probably lay off the drugs." He waved a hand dismissively. "Go on, Treacy, go about your business as if you aren't seeing enormous ginger illusions. People might start thinking you're weird otherwise, and that would never do."

For all his flippancy, he couldn't help finding his chest a little tight. He hadn't realised how much he missed Aaron until now, standing in front of him and trying incredibly hard to look chilled. It was stupid, but it was true; out of all the Dalton kids, he'd probably missed Aaron most, and that was saying something.

Aaron smiled in an even bloom that was slowed by the tightness that had settled in his chest, too. "...You complete arse, Costigan, why in hell did you come back? Don't you have uni to be working up to?" he asked, hands shoved into his pockets with a casual ease he didn't feel.

He'd missed Eoin, too. But, as another sassy ginger once said, he wasn't going to be the one to hug first.

"Yeah, yeah, heard it all already. Let's not have a repeat of Rose's sulky face, okay? I don't have a return ticket, so it's not like I can just saunter back to Ireland. Anyway, I couldn't keep away from you nutjobs, just look what happened when I turned my back on Rose for five minutes." He chuckled, wryly, and opened his arms. "You going to give your Uncle Eoin a hug, or do I have to come over there and lift your feet off the ground myself?"

Aaron was still for a full few seconds before his impish grin spread across his face.

He had to go on his tiptoes to bearhug Eoin properly, but that was nothing new. He was almost laughing as he did so. "When did you get here?!"

"Yesterday afternoon." Eoin squeezed him tight, grinning properly now. "Spent last night in a cheap hotel 'cause I was fucking exhausted and didn't figure I was up for the inevitable party upon my return. Speaking of, you'd better be planning a fucking amazing party for me in your head right now."
