Who: Everyone going to cheer Caleb up!
What: Operation Cheery Caleb!
When: Feb 10th, Friday Night
Where: Bowling Alley / Movies
Rating: SFW (minor cursing?)

The plan was simple really, distract Caleb from the impending holiday and, the dance that would follow. What better way than with a night out on the town with the boys? Movies, Pizza with bowling and, if he was lucky, his friends would go easy on him at the arcade games.

Caleb was pleased when Blake opted out of mentioning his previous statement. Instead he focused on his friend's pizza choice, the forced smile on his lips softening into a genuine one as his blush faded. "Proud of you," he said, nudging Blake in the shoulder, "I think I'll have the same. It sounds epic."

Once Caleb had also paid for his food, he turned back to Blake, "So, how is it that you're from New York - one of the best places in the country to get pizza - and you don't have anything more adventurous than pepperoni?"

"Uhhh...well," Blake began, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly and, thinking back to the time he was nine and nearly choked on a double meat lovers supreme pizza slice. He'd been extra hungry that day, knowing his parents would take him and his siblings out for pizza into the city and, knowing this had skipped breakfast in anticipation. Of course, being nine hadn't the jaw power or control over his pizza eating form just yet and well...one very blue Blake later he'd sworn off pizza with excessive toppings. At first it had been all pizza but being a nine year old New Yorker, he simply couldn't stay away from the savory dish. "That's a long story...."

"Short version?" Blake added, his hand coming up, index and middle fingers together rubbing against his thumb and face taking on a very dramatic look for a moment. His cheeks already beginning to turn pink as he voiced his best impersonation of 'The God Father'. "I disrespected the pizza and it made me an offer I couldn't refuse."

Unable to stop the roll of his eyes, Caleb chuckled and pat the other boy on the shoulder. "You're ridiculous," he said plainly, nodding politely to the cashier before steering Blake away a little, "How could you possibly disrespect a pizza?" Flashing Blake a grin, he continued, "You didn't wake up with a horse head in your bed for such disrespect, right?"

"Maybe a little." Blake confirmed, not seeing how comfortable he'd become around his friend to act in such a way and, as Caleb steered him from the cashier continued his story trying not to laugh all the while. "It's your classic case really. Hungry nine year old choking to death after ordering too many toppings on his pizza. Swear I didn't mean to but I couldn't pick and well...in New York, when you say everything, you get just that, everything."

The news wasn't funny. Blake almost choking on a pizza was rather serious actually. So why was Caleb laughing? As soon as his friend had disclosed his reasons, the younger boy had scoffed and unsuccessfully attempted to smother his chuckles before bursting into full-blown laughter. "Sorry," he gasped, trying his best to calm down, "It's not funny but..." It totally was.

"Riiight," Blake began, trying to hide his own grin with a mock pout and, after watching his friend recover shook his head. It was funny, he'd laughed at the story when his parents had brought it up months before when he had returned home for the winter break. "It's cool," Blake began, waving his hand for Caleb to continue. "Go on, get it all out of your system. Don't want you spraying me with bits of your pizza if you start up while we eat."

Caleb said no more until the pair of them had moved to sit down. Joining their friends, he slipped into his seat and continued to speak to Blake, immersed in their conversation. "I promise not to spit pizza on you," he said, holding his three middle fingers up in a salute, "I swear it, bro." He was pleased that Blake also seemed to find it funny. It would have been really awkward had his friend got offended.

"You need to ease yourself back into it," Caleb then said, pausing for a moment as he reclined in his seat, "Today, pepperoni. Tomorrow, Hawaiian. Who knows after that. The possibilities are endless!"

Blake shook his head with a chuckle as Caleb continued, his attention previously turned towards their other friends a second and, turning it back to the other boy gave a small grin. Tilting his head to one side, Blake spoke with an air of amusement in his voice. Was his dislike of so many toppings really that amusing? "What are you? A volunteering pizza trauma recovery coach?"

That statement only caused Caleb to being laughing again. "Maybe," he said through chuckles, "But it makes sense, right?" At the moment, he wasn't entirely sure anything was making sense. Unsure as to where the case of the giggles had come from, he quickly decided that it was a good thing. He had been mopey for days now. A night out with the guys was doing the job, and he felt infinitely happier at the moment. In fact, he hadn't thought of Raf at all since entering the restaurant. That had to be a good sign.

"What ever you say, Cay. Whatever you say." Leaning back with his arms crossed in amusement, Blake shook his head unable to stop a silly grin from curving his lips and, watching his friend then felt like their plan to distract him from thoughts of Raf had succeeded. Even if it meant daring more toppings on his pizza. It was nice, getting away from the school and all of the thoughts that went along with attending Dalton and, while it had been planned for Caleb, Blake almost felt that it was a nice escape for all of them.
